Is GTA 6 connected to old games? Evidence that points towards the connection to GTA's existing lore

Rockstar finally dropped the
GTA 6 trailer
, and the internet lost its mind. While everyone's talking about the insane graphics and
Lucia
, the first female protagonist in the series, some eagle-eyed fans are asking a bigger question: Is
GTA 6
connected to previous games? Short answer? It looks like it. Long answer? There are tons of hidden details that suggest GTA 6 isn't just a new game—it's part of GTA's massive, chaotic, and legendary universe.
GTA 6 VICE CITY IS BACK... But NO PC Release - Koroto Reacts to Grand Theft Auto VI
1. Vice City Is Back
GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional Florida-inspired state, with Vice City at its heart. OG fans know Vice City was the setting of GTA: Vice City (2002), meaning Rockstar is bringing back one of the most iconic locations in gaming. But is it just a nostalgia play, or is there more?
The city's skyline has been modernized, but it still has the same vibe as the 80s version.
The Malibu Club, Ocean Drive, and Little Haiti are back, hinting at a deeper connection.
Could we see returning characters or references to Tommy Vercetti?
2. The GTA 5 Connection
GTA 5 left players with a connected universe, thanks to the massive multiplayer world of GTA Online. And it seems GTA 6 is expanding on that.
The LC24 News Channel (from GTA 5) appears in the GTA 6 trailer, confirming that media and events exist in the same timeline.
Fans spotted a tamed gator in one clip—possibly a reference to Trevor's infamous pet in GTA Online.
The trailer's social media influencer vibes feel like an evolution of GTA 5's modern, satirical take on today's world.
GTA 6 BRANDS NEW AND RETURNING! Everything We Know!
3. Familiar Brands & Locations
Eagle-eyed fans have spotted familiar in-game brands in GTA 6's trailer—Sprunk, eCola, Cluckin' Bell, and even LifeInvader. These fictional companies have been part of the GTA universe for years, linking GTA 6 to the past games.
Also, Ocean View Hotel, a classic spot from GTA: Vice City, appears in the trailer, reinforcing the idea that this is the same world—just years later.
Rockstar isn't throwing away its rich lore—it's expanding it. While GTA 6 won't be a direct sequel to older games, it's clear that Vice City exists in the same world as GTA 4 and 5. The Easter eggs, returning locations, and familiar brands all point to one thing—this is the next chapter in the GTA saga, not a fresh start.

5 enterable buildings GTA 6 must have (that GTA 5 didn't)
(Image via Rockstar Games) GTA 6 is shaping up to be the most ambitious open-world game ever. From Vice City's neon glow to Leonida's swamps, everything feels more alive and more explorable. But one thing that could truly set it apart? More enterable buildings. GTA 5 had a massive map, but most buildings were just pretty props. GTA 6 has a chance to fix that. Here are five buildings we need to enter in GTA 6, because GTA 5 didn't let us. 1. Courthouse Lucia wears an ankle monitor in early scenes. Clearly, she's been through the system. But we never get to see that system up close. GTA 6 could finally give us enterable courthouses where you witness trials, manipulate outcomes, or... break someone out mid-hearing. Rockstar loves satire, and a corrupt, bureaucratic courthouse is ripe for it. GTA 6 Needs Food & Restaurants... GTA 5 Has None #gta6 2. Fast Food Joints Remember Cluckin' Bell? Or Up-n-Atom Burger? In GTA 5, you could see them everywhere, but never step inside. The last GTA game that actually let you visit fast food joints was GTA San Andreas. GTA 6 needs to change that. Imagine walking in, ordering food, starting fights, or even running a racket from the backroom. With Rockstar's detailed interiors and roleplay-friendly systems, these places could be more than background, they could be missions waiting to happen. 3. Hospitals In GTA 5, hospitals were mostly respawn points. GTA 6 could turn them into active gameplay zones for rescue missions, organ trafficking plots, or even missions where you pretend to be a patient. Dark? Sure. But classic GTA material. 4. Police Station Interiors (Fully Functional) We've seen glimpses of raids and corrupt cops in Trailer 2. So why not let us enter the police station, not just during missions, but anytime? Think interrogations, evidence tampering, jail breaks, or just eavesdropping on dirty deals. Adds depth to the 'cat-and-mouse' vibe between cops and our leads. Will the Vice City North Point Mall Return in GTA 6 #gta6 5. Shopping Malls Vice City = Miami vibes. And what screams 'Florida' louder than over-the-top malls? GTA 6 could use these spaces for everything from drug drops to TikTok-influencer chaos. Plus, imagine chases through escalators, food courts, and neon-lit corridors. Malls are built for mayhem. GTA 6 already feels like a world you can live in. But if Rockstar really wants to push immersion, enterable buildings are the key. Not just for exploration, but for storytelling. These six buildings could unlock new gameplay, richer missions, and the kind of chaos that only GTA can deliver.

UK woman swoons over India's garbage truck jingle
Credit: X/@sociallywanderful India's music scene is known for producing some absolute bangers — from Bollywood hits to indie chart-toppers. But for one British woman, the song that stole her heart wasn't playing in a nightclub or movie — it was blaring from a garbage truck. Deanna Leigh, a 23-year-old travel vlogger from the UK, recently went viral after posting a hilarious and wholesome video about falling in love with India's municipal waste collection jingle. The tune? The familiar 'Swachh Bharat ka irada, irada kar liya humne…' — instantly recognizable across the country as the anthem of cleanliness drives and, more commonly, the soundtrack to your local trash van. 'I kept hearing it in Jodhpur and thought it was just a really catchy morning song people liked,' Deanna admitted in her video, laughing at her mistake. 'I had no idea it was announcing garbage pickup!' In the clip, a garbage truck can be seen rolling down the street as the upbeat jingle plays, while Deanna listens in, clearly amused and unexpectedly impressed. In her caption, she wrote: 'My new favourite song in India! At one point, this was all I would hear in the mornings. I had no clue what it meant… but damn, what a banger!' She first heard the tune while traveling through Rajasthan and Agra, where different versions are commonly played by municipal vans. 'Each city has its own tune, but this one was my favourite,' she added. And now? She's seriously considering bringing the concept home. 'Can we use this back in the UK? I think it might make bin days 10 times better,' she joked. Deanna's reaction has struck a chord with Indian netizens, who are both entertained and oddly proud. One user commented, 'Honestly, it's a banger.' A second user wrote, 'This song was a nightmare and an alarm for me for 7 straight years.' However a third user noted that his personal favourite is another OG song. He wrote, 'Nobody can beat the OG song though: 'Kude wala aaya ghr se khachra nikaal.'
