Israeli soldiers admit committing crimes against starving Palestinians in Gaza
Al-Quds - Saba
The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz, citing Israeli army officers and soldiers, revealed on Friday shocking practices against Palestinian civilians near aid distribution centers in the Gaza Strip.
The interviews concluded that Israeli army commanders ordered troops to fire on Palestinian crowds, even when it was clear they posed no threat.
In a report published by the newspaper, the soldiers confirmed that "the shooting of Gaza residents near humanitarian aid distribution centers was deliberate, even though they posed no threat." They added that the army "fired everything imaginable, from heavy machine guns, mortar shells, and hand grenades" at the aid seekers.
The soldiers indicated that "the army did not witness any gunfire from the opposing side during the aid distribution operations," stressing that the military establishment now views these centers as a means of gaining "legitimacy to continue fighting," and that they are "happy" with this.
One enemy soldier explained that "Gaza no longer concerns anyone. It has become a place with its own laws. Even killings no longer require the issuance of statements about the occurrence of 'unfortunate incidents.'" He added that "the army treats the hungry crowds as if they were a hostile force launching an attack."
