Another Actor, Krishna, Detained By Chennai Police In Cocaine Case
Chennai:
In a dramatic escalation of the high-profile cocaine case that has rocked Tamil Nadu's film industry, the Chennai police has detained actor Krishna for questioning. This follows the recent arrest of actor Srikanth and film producer Prasad, who is also a former AIADMK functionary.
Krishna is currently being interrogated at the Nungambakkam Police Station. While officials have not disclosed his exact role in the alleged drug ring, a senior police officer told NDTV, "It's an ongoing investigation. We have nothing to share now. We shall update after an interrogation."
According to investigators, Prasad is accused of supplying cocaine to friends within the film industry, including Srikanth, and of hosting lavish drug-fueled parties.
Krishna hails from a well-known film family. His father is a film producer, and his elder brother, Vishnu Varadhan, is a prominent director. Krishna himself has appeared in several notable films such as Anjali, Iruvar, and Thalapathy. However, it was his lead role in Kazhugu that earned him critical acclaim and the moniker "Kazhugu Krishna."
The case has unearthed a deeper web of criminal activity. Police allege that Prasad was also involved in a job racket and cases of blackmail, while his associate Ajay Vandiyar is being investigated for intimidation, forgery, and land grabbing.
So far, 22 individuals - including a few police personnel - have been arrested in connection with the case. Authorities now plan to seek police custody of both Srikanth and Prasad in a bid to unravel the full extent of the drug network.

Tamil actor Krishna detained in drug case
The Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday detained actor Krishna in Kerala following the arrest of Tamil actor Srikanth for allegedly buying and consuming cocaine. Investigation also found that Prasad was able to use the help of those in the police department to track locations and receive call records to extort money from individuals (HT Archive) It all began on May 22, when two groups clashed outside a nightclub in Chennai. The Nungambakkam police in the city arrested eight intoxicated people which included a former AIADMK IT wing functionary, Prasad. From his bank transactions, a search in house revealed that he has cheated several individuals promising them jobs in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, Greater Chennai Corporation, Metrowater, police said. He did so with the connivance of some in the police department. 'A chief constable of the Madurai Municipal Armed Police Force, Senthil has been arrested for being in contact with the accused,' a police officer said. 'Three cases have been filed against Prasad and his accomplices for the job scam and we have been receiving several complaints on this issue.' Investigation also found that Prasad was able to use the help of those in the police department to track locations and receive call records to extort money from individuals. 'Another case has been registered on this issue and two sub-inspectors have been questioned,' the official quoted above said. On the issue of narcotics, police say that Prasad bought cocaine from a Bengaluru-based man named Pradeep with the help of a Ghana national named John for the past three years. 'During this investigation, 11 grams of cocaine and evidence of money laundering was seized,' said a statement from the Nungambakkam police. It was through this investigation that police found actor Srikanth, who was popular in Tamil and Telugu cinema in the early 2000s, to have also been allegedly buying and using cocaine through Prasad. Police arrested Srikanth on June 23. 'There are few who are absconding and will be tracked and arrested soon,' the Nungambakkam police said. A summons was issued to Tamil actor Krishna. 'A special task force was formed to track him in Kerala,' a police officer said. Through this drug trafficking case, Chennai police are also cracking down a land grabbing network. Prasad's friend Ajay Vandayar and his alleged accomplices Nagendra Sethupathi, Chandrasekar alias Senthil, and Sivasankaran have been arrested for allegedly threatening landowners who live abroad and forging documents to illegally acquire land. 'A total of 22 people have been arrested on charges of land grabbing and five have been detained under the Goondas Act' a second officer said. Police are also probing an organization AJ Trust & Enterprises linked to Vandayar.

Jasbir Jassi supports Diljit Dosanjh amid 'Sardaar Ji 3' amid controversy, calls it 'double standards'
Pakistani actress Hania Aamir appearance in the trailer of Diljit Dosanjh 's 'Sardaar Ji 3' sparked quite the controversy. Due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and Operation Sindoor on May 7, the makers decided not to release the film in India. After Diljit announced the film's release date as June 27, major film bodies like the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) responded by announcing a ban on Diljit Dosanjh in India. Jasbir Jassi Supports Diljit Dosanjh Now, Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi has lent his support to Diljit Dosanjh during the current controversy. Speaking to NDTV, he said he respects people's feelings about standing by the country. However, he also pointed out the double standards, saying that Indian films often feature songs by foreign singers, but no one seems to have a problem with that. Jasbir Jassi Calls Out 'Double Standards' Amid the ongoing 'Sardaar Ji 3' and Hania Aamir controversy, Punjabi singer Jassi said that the harsh criticism against Diljit Dosanjh reflects 'double standards' in the industry. He said to NDTV, "I'm seeing how Diljit Dosanjh and his film are facing protests on social media because that film also stars a Pakistani artiste. I respect people's sentiments that we should love our country and that we should stand by our country. But, why these double standards? If you don't want any Pakistani artists singing, acting or working in any Indian film, you want to ban them. But 80% of the songs of our industry have been stolen, be it their tunes or words or the entire songs. There are so many songs in our films that have been sung by the artists of that country. I don't want to take names because the list is too long. So, why these double standards?" "Either get rid of all those songs from YouTube, Spotify and other digital platforms. But not like this, you take just one artist and start protesting against them. It's like someone came to your house with something to eat and then you start calling them the enemy but you keep eating the things or sweets they brought along with them. If you want to ban (Pakistani artists), ban them completely. Get all that content available in the world lifted. .. why are you banning films of one artist at a time?, he further stated. FWICE to Ban Diljit Dosanjh After a strong online backlash over a Pakistani actress featuring in the upcoming regional film, Diljit Dosanjh has faced severe criticism. FWICE President BN Tiwari told NDTV that the federation has decided to issue a directive banning Diljit and the film's producers in India. BN Tiwari revealed to NDTV, "There will be complete non co-operation. If the film is released anywhere, we will issue a directive of non co-operation. We will ensure that Diljit Dosanjh won't get work (films or concerts) in any part of India." "If he doesn't withdraw the release of the film, he won't get work in India." FWICE and AICWA Ban Diljit Dosanjh from Working in India Along with FWICE, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has also decided to ban Diljit from working in the Indian film industry. Ashok Pandit reacted to the news and opened up in an exclusive interview in NDTV, "This is sheer arrogance. You think it doesn't matter to you (Diljit Dosanjh). This is arrogance. And it's important to break this arrogance. It's important to break this arrogance. By living in this country, by earning in this country, by using this country, the emotions of the people here... Look, you have a huge responsibility. Because you have lakhs of followers. You have so many followers that your responsibility increases." Jasbir Jassi Says Targeting One Pakistani Artist Is Unfair As the backlash over Hania Aamir acting with Diljit in 'Sardaar Ji 3' continues, singer and actor Jasbir Jassi shared his view. He said it's unfair to blame just one Pakistani artist when '80% of the songs in Indian films' are copied, and no one talks about that. Bobby Deol Meets Diljit Dosanjh: Punjabi Power Goes Viral
