AP: Supply medicines to hospitals instead of spending on Yoga: CPI
Kakinada, June 11 (UNI) CPI state executive member Thatipaka Madhu today lashed out at the Andhra Pradesh government for "starving the rural hospitals of medicines" and instead spending funds on Yoga. At a press conference at Samalkot near here on Wednesday, Madhu said they were not against Yoga and celebration of world Yoga day, but were opposed to forcing employees of all departments, especially women workers of all municipalities, Dwcra women and Anganwadi workers to come on to the roads early in the morning for doing yoga in the name of Yogandhra from May 21 to June 21. The employees have been subjected to mental tension and hardships, he added. The CPI leader further alleged that many hospitals in rural areas were not having even medical kits and also medicines. Instead of improving the condition of hospitals, spending on yoga "for pleasing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi" is highly improper and nothing but misuse of funds, he added. Pointing out that educational institutions are reopening from tomorrow, he said, till now the funds for `Thalliki Vandanam' scheme were not released. The fee reimbursement was not done and with the management refusing permission for the students to appear for the exams, parents were facing a lot of hardships, he added. CPI district secretary K Bodakonda, joint secretary Thokala Prasad, district executive members Kesavarapu Appalaraju, Samithi members P Ramakrishna, senior leader Katta Satyanarayana were among those attended.
