Transport logistic 2025 kicks off in Munich with focus on AI, digitalization
MUNICH, Germany, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Transport logistic 2025, an international exhibition for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management, kicked off Monday in the southern German city of Munich.
The event, which is held every two years in Munich, has attracted around 2,670 exhibitors from more than 70 countries and regions this year, with the organizer expecting some 80,000 professional visitors.
"Transport logistic makes visible what often remains invisible in everyday life: Logistics is far more than trucks on the highway, it is the basis for the economy to function," said Stefan Rummel, chief executive officer of Messe Muenchen.
Running through June 5, the four-day event places an emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), digitalization, and cybersecurity, which are key topics shaping the future of the global logistics industry.
Germany's Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder said at the opening ceremony that digitalization is a decisive lever for modern logistics. "Digital applications make processes more efficient, more intelligent and therefore easier," he said. He particularly emphasized the role of AI, saying that "It can help with planning optimal delivery routes, fleet management and predictive vehicle maintenance."
Over 100 Chinese companies, including China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, China Railway Container Transport Corp., Ltd., and CRRC Corporation Limited, participated in this year's exhibition, showcasing their latest products, services, and innovations to the global audience.
"At this year's exhibition, we showcased key achievements and ongoing efforts to build a world-class shipping technology company," Chen Bin, vice president of COSCO Shipping Europe, told Xinhua.
"The highlights of COSCO at this year's fair include our efforts to advance the development of an integrated transport network across Europe and reaffirm our commitment to expanding global service capabilities. We also presented achievements in green and low-carbon technologies, smart shipping solutions, and innovations in digital supply chain management," he said.

FRANKFURT: A jump in electric car sales helped give a slight boost to Germany's troubled auto market last month, official data showed Wednesday, although Elon Musk's Tesla fared poorly again. A total of 239,297 new vehicles were registered in May in Europe's top car market, 1.2 percent more than the same month last year, the KBA federal transport authority said. The number of electric vehicles (EVs) registered jumped 45 percent, as the segment continues a tentative recovery following a downturn last year triggered by the removal of government subsidies. Registrations of BYD cars jumped more than 800 percent from a year earlier, to nearly 1,860 vehicles, although the Chinese EV giant is just beginning to make inroads in Germany. EY analyst Constantin Gall said many EV manufacturers had 'significantly reduced the price difference between combustion engines and comparable electric vehicles, and are also offering very attractive financing or leasing conditions for electric cars'. The German auto market has performed weakly in recent years, and is still about 28 percent below pre-pandemic levels, according to EY. 'The market is moving sideways and not advancing -- neither in Germany nor in Europe,' said Gall.

Ringgit eases marginally against greenback after stronger US economic data
KUALA LUMPUR — The ringgit eased against the greenback at the close on Wednesday after the United States posted stronger economic data. At 6 pm, the local note edged lower to 4.2435/2490 versus the US dollar from Tuesday's close of 4.2425/2485. Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd's chief economist, Dr. Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid, said stronger-than-expected US job openings in April lifted optimism about the American economy's resilience and helped lift the dollar. US job openings rose 191,000 to 7.391 million by the last day of April, beating a forecast of 7.10 million vacancies. '(Another) data point will be released in the United States (later tonight). The US Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Index for the services sector is expected to rise to 52 points in May from 51.6 points in April based on consensus estimates. Having said that, the US Dollar Index (DXY) continues to hover below 100 points. Currently, the DXY index is lingering around 99.145 points, down 0.08 per cent from the previous close,' he told Bernama. SPI Asset Management managing partner Stephen Innes said traders were increasing interest in US assets, easing short term pressure on the dollar as expectations for interest rates shifted slightly. 'Meanwhile, there are quiet signs from Shanghai, via the US Chamber of Commerce president, that China may be starting to relax restrictions on rare earth exports. This has led markets to hope that a call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping could lead to a small breakthrough, or at least a longer pause in the current trade tensions,' he said. At the close, the ringgit traded mostly higher against a basket of major currencies. It rose against the Japanese yen to 2.9444/9486 from Tuesday's close of 2.9695/9739, gained vis-à-vis the euro to 4.8300/8362 from 4.8415/8484, but depreciated against the British pound to 5.7427/7502 from 5.7337/7418 previously. The local note also traded mostly higher against its ASEAN peers. It appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 3.2906/2951 from 3.2967/3016 on Tuesday, advanced versus the Thai baht to 12.9679/9911 from 13.0334/0603 and edged higher vis-a-vis the Philippine peso to 7.60/7.62 from 7.61/7.63. #SHOWBIZ: AIM24 returns with new categories and greater rewards
KUALA LUMPUR: The 24th edition of Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) is back this Sept 13 at the Arena Of Stars in Resorts World Genting. AIM 24 was announced by the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia's (RIM) chairman Rosmin Hashim at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club here today, and it will be broadcast live at 9pm from Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). Rosmin said that the nation's premiere music awards show, which has upheld artistic merit and industry standards since 1993, continues to evolve in tandem with the country's rich and diverse music scene, and will be introducing three new award categories. They are the Best Unity Song that recognises musical works that promote Bangsa Malaysia, the Best Traditional Song which honours compositions rooted in traditional music, and the Best Collaboration By A Local Artiste And Foreign Artiste/Composer which shines a spotlight on Malaysian artistes who go global. Rosmin said that in a significant boost to the industry, the Communications Ministry will be awarding RM700,000 to 11 award winners. "These funds are part of My Creative Ventures' (MyCV) Creative Content Fund to support the production, promotion and distribution of creative content of high commercial and artistic value," he said. RTM television programme division director Reza Sariman Othman said: "We are pleased to work with RIM and serve as the official broadcaster of Malaysia's premiere music awards show. "We strongly believe in the power of music as a cultural force and a unifying element in society." The nominations for awards are for songs in Malay, English, Chinese and Indian, released from July 1, 2022 to Dec 31, 2024. The submission of nominations ends at 5pm on July 4. There are 31 award categories in three segments namely the main categories, the pre-award categories, and the Sri Wirama Award for lifetime achievement in music. The main categories are Best New Artiste, Best Male Vocalist, Best Female Vocalist, Best Group, Best Band, Best Duo/Collaboration, Best Music Video, Best Original Soundtrack, Best Rock Song, Best Pop Song, Best Hip-Hop Song, Best Electronic/Dance Song, Best English Song, Best Chinese Song, Best Indian Song, Best Malay Song By A Foreign Artiste, Best Collaboration By A Local Artiste And A Foreign Artiste/Composer, Best Nasyid Song, Best Ethnic Song, Best Unity Song, Best Traditional Song, Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year. The pre-award categories are Best Album Cover, Best Engineered Song, Best Engineered Album, Best Musical Arrangement In A Song, Most Streamed Song, Most Watched Music Video On YouTube and Most Viewed Song On TikTok. The final five nominees for each category will be announced in August.
