Volvo is looking to boost its reputation for safety with the release of a new 'multi-adaptive safety belt' that uses real-time data from the vehicle's sensors to better protect the person wearing it.
Seatbelt technology hasn't changed much since Volvo patented one of the first modern three-point safety belts in the early 1960s. But cars have changed significantly, adding sensors, cameras, and high-powered computers to power advanced driver assist features and anti-crash technology.
Now, Volvo wants to put those gadgets to work for seatbelts. Modern safety belts use load limiters to control how much force the safety belt applies on the human body during a crash. Volvo says its new safety belt expands the load-limiting profiles from three to 11 and increases the possible number of settings, enabling it to tailor its performance to specific situations and individuals.

As such, Volvo can use sensor data to customize seatbelts based on a person's height, weight, body shape, and seating position. A larger occupant, for example, would receive a higher belt load setting to help reduce the risk of a head injury in a crash, while a smaller person in a milder crash would receive a lower belt load setting to reduce the risk of rib fractures.
During a crash, Volvo says its vehicles' safety systems will share sensor data — such as direction, speed, and passenger posture — with multi-adaptive seatbelts to determine how much force to apply to the occupant's body. And using over-the-air software updates, Volvo promises that the seatbelts can improve over time.
Volvo has previously deviated from traditional practices to introduce new technologies meant to underscore its commitment to safety. The company limits the top speed on all of its vehicles to 112 mph — notably below the 155 mph established by a 'gentleman's agreement' between Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW to reduce the number of fatalities on the Autobahn.

12 Revivals of Classic Automotive Nameplates That Fell Flat
Pontiac simply couldn't stop cracking open the history books when naming cheap and disappointing cars at the end of the '80s. Not content with stirring up trouble with the Tempest, it also reinstated the LeMans badge on a vehicle that deserved it even less. The LeMans was originally a trim level on the Tempest when it made its debut in 1961, but it graduated to its own model by 1964. Like the Tempest, it was an intermediate car, a mid-sizer with some zip if you ordered it with the right engine under the hood. More important, it was also the launch pad for the famed GTO, where it started as a LeMans trim level before it, too, became its own name plate. The 1988 version? Rather than honor Le Mans as a racing circuit, or LeMans as the father of the GTO, it went about as far in the opposite direction as possible, rebadging a Korean subcompact called the Daewoo Cielo, which was itself a copy of a copy of the Opel Kadett. Not exactly a compelling branch in what had once been a respectable family tree, and a car that did more to turn people off the Pontiac brand than perhaps any other vehicle in its showroom.

3 Steps To Use ChatGPT To Build A Business That Outpays Your 9-5
Did you know that you could completely replace your salary with simple ChatGPT systems? The majority of today's solopreneurs appear to be effortlessly successful because they've dedicated themselves to figuring out how to work smarter in a way where time works for them, and not the other way around. They understand the power of leveraging technology, and now that the AI revolution is in full swing, they're capitalizing on it to grow, reduce unnecessary excess time, and double their income. One of the most positive effects that AI has had on the workforce is that it's actually lowered the barriers to entry for many aspiring freelancers and entrepreneurs. You can now create digital products, build entire business plan outlines, draft marketing emails, and even develop a robust content strategy and research your industry and competitors within a fraction of the time traditional methods would have taken. In this article, you'll learn, in just a few minutes, the simple steps you can take to replace your salary using generative AI tools like ChatGPT: All businesses boil down to two core ingredients: a problem that desperately needs solving, and a tangible, direct solution. If you're a first-time solopreneur, your job is to identify a niche and a problem for a highly specific audience that only you can fill because you have the relevant skills and expertise. At the same time, there needs to be strong enough demand for it. It's even easier when it's a problem that people are already paying to get fixed, like social media marketing, SEO, or web app design. ChatGPT can be a great tool for researching and conceptualizing ideas that are floating about in your head, and actually making sense of them and helping you go from idea mode to a tangible plan of action, especially if you lack business know-how. When prompting the tool, present your ideas, and ask it to speak to you as if it were a business coach. For some inspiration, when I use ChatGPT (or other tools like Perplexity) as a freelance professional, I typically use it for to help me with research tasks such as: Note I said help. Don't let AI do all the building for you. You will never cross your salary threshold and increase your income if your business is simply an AI clone. In fact, that's the fastest way to lose credibility and client trust. You need to be genuine and authentic, so the best way to combine this with AI efficiency is to use GenAI tools like ChatGPT to simplify critical aspects of your work that require repetition, attention to detail, or are brain-intensive and time-consuming. You can also find other tools similar to ChatGPT that complement your work and industry, for the tasks you need streamlining the most, such as or SurferSEO. When I launched multiple income streams for my business, what enabled me to scale rapidly was being able to lean on ChatGPT for suggestions, ideation, brainstorming, a second pair of eyes, and outlining and initial drafts for content. Additionally, I'm by no means a designer, so I even used it to help me develop branding materials and the brand identity for my business. I was very specific with my prompts, because I understand that the output is only as good as what I put in. Giving it sufficient context is important so you have higher chances of improved results This not only saved me hours and days, but it also proved invaluable because adopting this approach saved me money. To get started, I didn't need to hire someone to do these things for me; I was able to get more done, in less time, and with the minimal expense of my ChatGPT Pro subscription, without needing to outsource to anyone. Often we erect barriers like, 'I don't have a co-founder.' 'I don't know how to build XYZ.' 'I'm not an expert in XYZ field.' But with tools like ChatGPT, you can perfect your skills and learn and build anything. This provides you with enough momentum to eventually scale further and completely replace and even exceed the income from your 9-5 job, like I did when I was laid off two years ago.

Celebrity-Turned-Racer Frankie Muniz To Race in Le Mans Support Event
Frankie Muniz will take part in a Mustang Challenge support race during this year's 24 Hours of Le ... More Mans weekend. Ford Motor Company's performance arm Ford Racing recently announced that former actor and current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racer Frankie Muniz will take part in a Mustang Challenge invitational race during this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend. As a support race, it's a chance for Ford to garner attention from both attendees and viewers from all over the world. The cars are prepped for competition with proper safety and circuit-ready equipment, those still heavily based on the production Ford Mustang Dark Horse. North American racing fans know the spec from the International Motor Sport Association's Mustang Challenge, a supporting sprint series that takes part in six of the organization's races this year—Muniz has taken part in a few of its races since it came to be last year. As reported by Sportscar 365, Muniz will be joined by pro-drifter and automotive personality Chelsea Denofa, as well as FoMoCo CEO Jim Farley. Farley's been no stranger to race paddocks over the past couple of years. The rest of the field is expected to be announced sometime soon, as the legendary event at France's Circuit de la Sarthe kicks off next week on June 11th. The particular class they'll be battling it out in is 'Dark Horse Stars,' designed for one-off racers, with eligibility defined on a Ford website detailing the manufacturer's efforts during the weekend. The Mustang Dark Horse R, the official race car of Mustang Challenge. Interestingly, eligibility appears to be pretty open. There's no quote on cost (I can only imagine it's quite a piece of change), but various motorsports sanctioning bodies' licenses are accepted, including those issued by the Sports Car Club of America—a historically club-level, non-professional organization—and the National Hot Rod Association. The latter doesn't deal in door-to-door circuit racing, so it's possible that this is to draw racers from a wide mix of disciplines, along with their followings. While originally making a name for himself as the lead in Fox's hit family comedy of the 2000s, Malcolm in the Middle, Muniz has had a deep involvement in the automotive and racing industries for quite some time. For a time he owned one of the Volkswagen Jetta movie cars from The Fast and the Furious, and has quite a resume in circuit racing. Fun fact: this won't be his first invitational race in a celebrity class, as he took part in Toyota's famous Pro/Celebrity Race at the Long Beach Grand Prix four times between 2004 and 2011, with a top spot on the podium in 2005. Additionally, he's raced in the ARCA Menards Series and formula car-based ChampCar Atlantic Series. Muniz has experienced a string of bad luck recently this year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, so here's to hoping he sees some success in France. It'll also be great to see who else takes part in Mustang Challenge Le Mans-style, as well as hear the mighty roar of the cars' 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engines echo off of the circuit's historic tarmac.
