Cobb County DA discusses changes to cases, programs
The Cobb County district attorney is discussing the changes she is making as the county's top prosecutor.

In the first 100 days as the first African American woman elected as Cobb County District Attorney, Sonya Allen has hit the ground running.
'We've restructured the pre-trial diversion program. We've had more community involvement,' Allen told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell.
When it comes to how cases are being handled, some old cases are being reviewed.
'We have chief deputies assist DA's that are looking at cases with their units. They are not just waiting for their units to process cases. They are looking through the units and looking at the cases and trying to evaluate what cases may need to come forward sooner and quicker,' Allen said. 'If it's something that needs to come back at grand jury then that's what we'll do if it's.'

Allen recently launched something new, a leadership academy. Prosecutors will attend monthly training.
There is even more on the horizon.
'We have a lot of retirees in Cobb that have retired and they want to provide their services looking at our cold cases. We've identified a number of cold cases to get started on,' Allen said.

WATCH: Firefighters put out garage fire; almost $150K in damage done
Firefighters quickly put out a well-involved garage fire in Huber Heights on Wednesday. Woman and family members kill her husband in self-defense at Buckhead apartment complex, police say
Atlanta police are investigating a fight between a husband and wife that turned deadly in Buckhead. At about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Cortland Peachtree Battle apartment complex at 2420 Peachtree Road in Atlanta to reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found a man dead in a hallway. Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Andrew Smith said a man in his mid-30s entered the apartment building, approached the apartment of his wife, also in her mid-30s, and fired two shots. Smith said the man and woman were in the process of getting a divorce. Police aren't sure at this time how he was able to enter the building and have not revealed how the woman and her family members killed the man. Investigators are collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. It is unclear if charges will be filed. Police urge anyone with information about this shooting to call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous. 26-year-old man dead after motorcycle hits tree in Warren County
A 26-year-old man has died following a motorcycle crash in Warren County on Wednesday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] State troopers from the Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) responded at 8:23 p.m. to reports of a crash on North Waynesville Road, north of Hollingsworth Road in Turtle Creek Township. The 26-year-old man who died has been identified as Mathew Schmitz of Fairfield Township, according to an OSHP spokesperson.
