Usman Has A ‘Simple Path' To DDP
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight king Kamaru Usman finally returns to action after a lengthy layoff against surging contender Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta this weekend (Sat., June 14, 2025) inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
'The Nigerian Nightmare' is all about the idea of big 'blockbuster' fights these days.

Recently, he revealed that he sees a potential fight with Islam Makhachev, who is now moving up to the Welterweight division, as a massive superfight and something he's looking forward to.
But at UFC Atlanta's media day, the 38-year-old unveiled a bolder vision: a second title and a historic Africa showdown with Middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis.
And the route to get there is easy in his eyes.
'My path there is pretty simple,' Usman told reporters. 'I'll just lay out the map here. I'll finish Buckley this weekend and then wait for the winner of, I believe, Islam and JDM, which is going to be an incredible fight. It's such a great thing now having Islam come up into the division. Who wouldn't buy a ticket to that? Former pound-for-pound and current pound-for-pound. I love Islam. Islam is a great fighter. I think that's something that we'd both remember forever.'

'Win [against Islam] and then go ahead and probably vacate, go up,' Usman continued. 'Myself vs. Dricus Du Plessis, if he is the champion, or Khamzat Chimaev, too, if Dricus is no longer the champion, we do that. If Dricus is the champion, we do that in the first card in Africa. That's another blockbuster. These are back-to-back blockbuster fights you tell your grandkids about. Who wouldn't watch those?'
Usman's blockbuster blueprint is electrifying, but a ferocious Buckley stands in his way this Saturday. With knockout power and a hunger to topple a legend, Buckley aims to shatter 'The Nigerian Nightmare's' comeback.

Philadelphia-area families celebrate Father's Day with the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park
While some families celebrated Father's Day over brunch or backyard barbecues, others gathered at Citizens Bank Park for the Philadelphia Phillies game. For Buck DeSantis of Conshohocken, it's become a yearly ritual. "It's America's old pastime," DeSantis said, standing alongside his father, Richie, and his 8-year-old son, Chase. The DeSantis family has marked Father's Day at the Phillies game every year since 2019, when Chase was just starting to form memories of the ballpark. Now, the entire family joins in. This year, Buck's daughter Layla tagged along. She described her dad as "kind, nice and always there when I need him." Across the tailgates, sons and daughters of all ages reflected on what makes their dads special. Emily Augugliaro, who came with her extended family, said her husband shares a lot of traits with her own father. "Just always present … even if they're not home all day long," she said. "Making the time that they're home count." Many dads shared what parenting had taught them — and one quality stood out. "Patience," said Ramon Turner. "Patience, for sure," said Sal Colosi. Tyler Galbreth, from Lancaster County, celebrated Father's Day with friends, grilling in the Citizens Bank parking lot. "We're all dads sent away by our wives ... to appreciate the fatherhood that we provided," Galbreth said. "I can't say that fatherhood is any more of an amazing honor than it is, so what better way to spend it with great men in battle in the fatherhood that it is." The Phillies defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 11-4, Sunday afternoon to complete a three-game sweep.

Angels announce Christian Moore's debut in MLB
The tenth former Vol from the Tony Vitello era is headed to Major League Baseball. The Angels called up second baseman Christian Moore from Triple-A Salt Lake City on Thursday. He will make his MLB debut at Baltimore on Friday. Advertisement He played 23 games with the Bees after beginning the season with Double-A Rocket City, posting a .279 batting average with 57 hits, 31 runs, 32 RBIs, five home runs and 31 walks between both stops. Moore becomes the tenth Vol from the Vitello era to reach MLB, joining Garrett Crochet, Chase Silseth, Ben Joyce, Andre Lipcius, Trey Lipscomb, Jordan Beck , Seth Halvorsen and Blade Tidwell. Moore began his Tennessee career in 2022, primarily as a designated hitter. He had a .305 batting average, while totaling 36 hits, 30 runs, 36 RBIs, 10 home runs and 27 walks. He moved to second base in 2023. Moore recorded a .304 batting average, while totaling 65 hits, 66 runs, 50 RBIs, 17 home runs and 50 walks. Advertisement He was Tennessee's leadoff hitter during the Vols' 2024 national championship season.
