Elite DB Brody Jennings on Miami official: 'I had the time of my life'
Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin High School athlete Brody Jennings spent last weekend at Miami for his official visit under tragic circumstances. His father, Bradley, passed away just before the trip was to begin for the family. The group would follow through and see Coral Gables once more as the Hurricane staff worked to make the weekend as uplifting as possible. Advertisement "My dad passed a few days ago, so I couldn't really think," Jennings told local media. "I came on the visit and had the time of my life. I came here to have fun. It was about football, but more about family and football at the same time. He (Mario Cristobal) is not just a football guy, he's a family guy -- all the coaches are family guys. Father figures. "My dad wanted me to be strong. He liked Miami a lot. He liked the school a lot and I like it a lot. We wanted to still see everything." Jennings has considerable connections to the area and Miami program itself, with two siblings attending UM, including his sister currently on the track team. The bigger picture with the people and the place all came together for a memorable time on campus. Advertisement "It's been great," he said. "I don't know if any other schools are topping this official visit. Not even in just seeing everything, but the coaches. Coach Cristobal is a great coach. Coach (Will) Harris ad Coach (Zac) Etheridge -- great coaches, and the whole staff was great. "I've been here multiple times to see what the program is about is something serious. It's like that for real. It's a great program to play in with great people to be around. My family is from Miami. They've been down before and they enjoyed the visit, too. They enjoy the school and they're Miami Hurricanes fans already, so it would be great playing around the hometown of my parents." He remains on board with the Big Ten power, but all involved know this recruitment has more layers to be determined. Advertisement "It's gonna come down to the wire," he said. "That's not gonna stop Miami from recruiting me. Miami is coming really hard, Michigan is still coming hard. Miami wants me really bad. "Miami is a great school. Academics, private school. I could be successful with the school and life after football. There is a lot to offer." Florida is set to host Jennings this weekend. Georgia and Michigan get the next two weekends of official visits later this month. The four-star recruit says Sherrone Moore and company are keeping an open mind as visits continue to go down. "They know great players will visit other schools," Jennings said. "They know how hard I worked to get here, so they support me even though other schools will be on me." Marcus Benjamin contributed to this report.

Nick Jonas 'to play KISS frontman Paul Stanley in biopic'
Nick Jonas has reportedly been lined up to play KISS frontman Paul Stanley in a new biopic. The pop star/actor is believed to have been tapped to portray the band's frontman in 'Shout It Out Loud', which will be directed by McG and will chart the rock band's rise to fame. The Hollywood Reporter reports Jonas is in "final talks" to take on the role of Stanley, while movie bosses are still looking for an actor to play the singer's bassist bandmate Gene Simmons. The group is helping to develop the project while Stanley and Simmons are among the producers along with McG. reports Jonas plans to take on singing duties in the film and needs time to train his voice to be able to emulate Stanley's signature vocals. Longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee previously revealed the movie would focus on the band's first four years together after forming in the 1970s. Speaking to Talking Metal in 2021, he explained: "[The script is] completely done … And the script is about the first four years of KISS. Basically, it's before they were famous - it was up to Cadillac High [KISS' famous gig in a high school gym in Cadillac, Michigan in 1975] , that kind of thing ... "And I think it's a very interesting look at the formation of KISS, the mindset of how that came about, the social pressure that everybody was in in the '60s and '70s that brought something like KISS to the forefront, that it could actually happen. So it's a very interesting, and I think it's a well-written movie." Stanley has also previously spoken about the movie, telling broadcaster Kylie Olsson in 2021: "[The movie is] definitely happening. And that's gonna be really interesting. The script was really good. And we really waited until we felt comfortable." He added of actors who could play him in the film: "I will tell you this: for casting to be accurate in terms of age, we are looking at actors in their early 20s. "Honestly, I don't know a whole lot of actors in their early 20s. When people get asked these kinds of questions, they'll say, 'Oh, Brad Pitt,' or this one or that one. "Well, those guys are in their 50s or 60s, so you're talking about another generation of actors. And I'm the first to say I'm not up on a lot of them. "But as the casting process goes on, I'll certainly be there and watching. It'll be interesting to see how someone else- be it the casting people or the director - how they view who I am and who they see doing that. I think I'll learn a lot about their perception of me by who they cast."

Michigan native Mike Posner headlines Ann Arbor's Sonic Lunch season opener
Crowds of people filled Ann Arbor's Liberty Plaza on Thursday for the return of Sonic Lunch. The Bank of Ann Arbor sponsors the free concert series, which is now in its 18th season. Despite the rainy conditions, fans drove over to see headliner Mike Posner. "We drove like two and a half hours," said fan Micheal Williams. "We drove an hour at like 9 a.m.," said fan Morgan Cherry. "(I'm) probably one of Mike Posner's biggest fans." The series offers free concerts every Thursday from June through August, and this year's lineup is one of its biggest yet. "We have Phillip Phillips. We have The Accidentals, May Erlewine, Laith Al-Saadi," said organizer Matthew Altruda. A Detroit native, Posner said he grew up attending Michigan football games with his father, who attended the University of Michigan. He said it always feels good to come home for a show. "It's always good to play in Michigan in general and in Ann Arbor especially, love it here," said Posner. "I've been playing here for a long time." DJ and reality TV star Brody Jenner is currently on tour with Posner. "Mike's going on a big festival tour and we're playing some big, big shows, and he needed a DJ," said Jenner. "Our agent asked if I wanted to do it, and I was like, 'Yes, absolutely.' I've always been a fan of Mike, and he's one of my favorite artists, so it's a dream come true."
