Qatar Emir accorded royal welcome in Oman
Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik warmly received Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, upon his arrival in the Sultanate of Oman on a two-day state visit.
As Sheikh Tamim's aircraft entered Omani airspace, it was ceremonially escorted by a squadron of military aircraft from the Royal Air Force of Oman until it landed at the Royal Private Airport. His Majesty the Sultan personally led the welcoming delegation, reflecting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
Upon arrival, the Emir and His Majesty walked through a guard of honour formed by the Royal Guard of Oman before proceeding to the reception hall for a brief interlude.
Following this, a grand motorcade carried the two leaders from the airport to Al Alam Palace. As they passed through Muscat Gate, they were greeted by a spectacular display of Omani tradition, with the Royal Camel Corps lining both sides of the road in a gesture of honour and respect.
A formal and popular reception was held to mark the Emir's arrival, reinforcing the significance of this state visit in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Oman and Qatar.
This visit is expected to further bolster cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, underscoring their shared commitment to regional stability and prosperity.

Oman, Uzbekistan ink deals to expand air links, trade
Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Oman and Uzbekistan have signed agreements to expand air transport rights and strengthen logistical cooperation, aiming to boost trade and investment ties between the two countries. The accords were reached during the fifth session of the Omani-Uzbek Joint Committee held in Tashkent on Friday. Both sides agreed to increase operating rights for airlines, support the re-export of Uzbek products through Omani ports, and enhance cooperation in scientific research and innovation. Both sides emphasised stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors. During his visit, H E Yousef met Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technology of Uzbekistan, and discussed investment opportunities and trade challenges with Uzbek businessmen. He also attended roundtable meetings where investors from both countries reviewed available projects. Omar al Harthy, Senior Investment Analyst at the ministry, delivered a presentation on 'Invest in Oman', highlighting incentives for foreign investors. The Omani delegation held further meetings with representatives of the electronic payment technology, textiles and e-commerce sectors. H E Yousef also met Bakhtiar Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, to review existing bilateral agreements and discuss updating them in line with current priorities. The delegation visited the International Exhibition Centre, meeting companies in innovation and industrial technology and viewing new projects by Uzbek institutions.

The delegation visited facilities operated by AKFA Group, a leading Uzbek company involved in industrial manufacturing and education. Meetings were also held with representatives of Uzbek companies specialising in electronic payment systems, e-commerce, and textiles. Adding further significance to the visit, Minister Al Yousef attended the inauguration of the Tashkent branch of the Golden Integration Oil and Gas Company. Omani Mountain Destination project moves to design phase
MUSCAT: Plans for the establishment of a landmark mountain destination in Al Jabal Al Akhdar—one of Oman's highest summits—have advanced to the design stage. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has invited qualified international consultancy firms to bid for the master planning and detailed engineering design of the estimated RO 1.2 billion mega development. Known as the Al Jabal Al Aali project, or the Omani Mountain Destination, the development is envisioned as a mixed-use residential, hospitality, and wellness district spanning an 11.8 km² site atop Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliya Governorate. Part of a prestigious portfolio of sustainable cities promoted by the Ministry, Al Jabal Al Aali will feature more than 2,500 homes, 2,000 hotel rooms, a health and wellness hub, as well as biodiversity and sports facilities. Situated at an elevation of 2,400 metres above sea level, the destination promises cooler climes and breathtaking natural surroundings—rugged mountains, deep ravines, terraced farms, and endemic juniper trees. In addition to the overall master plan, the selected consultant will be responsible for the comprehensive infrastructure design, including planning, architecture, engineering, and tender preparation and award for major infrastructure and building components. A key highlight of the development is the Western Wellness Village, an integrated health and ecotourism cluster featuring approximately 500 residential and hotel units backed by RO 200 million in investments. Spanning 630,000 m², the village will underscore the project's appeal as a premier wellness destination. Designed to harmonize with the natural terrain, the new district will include paved walkways, open squares, green spaces, and water features. Mobility solutions will be enhanced by a proposed cable car system, while an extreme sports facility will cater to thrill-seekers with options such as mountain biking, bungee jumping, and rock climbing. Upon full buildout across multiple phases, Al Jabal Al Aali is expected to host a population of around 10,000 residents. The project forms part of Oman's broader urban development vision, which aims to attract billions of Omani rials in investment over the next decade across a suite of integrated tourism and residential projects. Alongside the flagship Sultan Haitham City in Al Khoud (Muscat Governorate), the portfolio includes Al Thuraya City in Bausher, a growing array of integrated neighbourhoods under the 'Souroh' brand, and other smart, sustainable urban developments.
