NWS confirms three tornadoes south of St. Louis metro from Monday's storms
MISSOURI – The National Weather Service has confirmed at least three tornadoes just south of the St. Louis metropolitan from Monday's severe storms.
One tornado was an EF-1 that rolled through northern Iron County and southern Washington County in Missouri, traveling 2.7 miles.
Another tornado was an EF-1 that rolled through the southwest corner of St. Francois County in Missouri, traveling 4.2 miles.
The third tornado was an EF-1 that rolled through Randolph County in Illinois, traveling roughly half a mile.

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-1 tornado tracks peak speeds anywhere from 86 to 110 mph.
No injuries were reported from any of these tornadoes, but one farm building was destroyed and debris damage was notable in Randolph County, based on preliminary NWS reports.
The National Weather Service says it is also reviewing potential tornado tracks in northern Ste. Genevieve County, northeastern Washington County and Jefferson County from Monday's storms.
Monday's storms were briefly tornado-warned in St. Louis and Jefferson counties, though neither one has a tornado designation from the National Weather Service at this time and damage appears to be limited.

Tornado-warned storms hit Jefferson, St. Francois and Washington counties
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – A tornado-warned storm system rolled through parts of Jefferson, St. Francois, Washington counties around 7 p.m. Saturday. The warning came without a tornado watch formally issued by the National Weather Service. FOX 2 radar indications suggest a tornado may have struck southwest of De Soto, Missouri. Mosquito population set to spike after weeks of rain
After record months with heavy rainfall, mosquito counts are, thankfully, running lower than normal for this time of the year. The continuous waves of wet weather limited adult mosquito activity by disrupting their flight and feeding patterns. Sadly, this will not last long. Standing water left behind by recent storms will provide ideal conditions for mosquito eggs to hatch. Mosquitoes require this standing water to lay eggs. Granted, a female can lay roughly 200-300 eggs every three days, additional water sources will lead to a rapid increase in the mosquito population. The Missouri Department of Conservation recommends reducing the mosquito population, which starts with reducing as much standing water as possible. Examples of what you can do to manage mosquitoes include: Emptying outdoor buckets, flower pots, tires, toys, and birdbaths at least every 3-4 days Cleaning out gutters and downspouts to prevent clogs that may lead to additional pooling Using approved insect repellents when outdoors In short, our mosquito season has been delayed but not derailed.
