Climate-proof and rugged, while capturing stereo sound in all its finest detail:
The MKH 8018 is a condenser microphone quite unlike the standard
Dubai, April 7, 2025 – Sennheiser has launched a new, compact stereo shotgun microphone today, the MKH 8018 for broadcasting and filming applications. The high-class short gun mic completes the company's MKH 8000 range of RF condenser microphones, which excel in the field due to their climate-proof ruggedness and natural sound capture with virtually no off-axis coloration. Providing flexibility to the audio engineer, the compact and lightweight MKH 8018 features three switchable stereo modes: MS stereo, wide XY stereo and narrow XY stereo. The MS mode allows the engineer to adjust the spatial imaging steplessly on the mixing desk, while the XY modes are premixed in the MKH 8018, with settings fine-tuned in many tests. The microphone will be on display at NAB, at the Sennheiser Group's booth N1428.
The MKH 8018 RF condenser microphone is a compact stereo shotgun mic with three switchable stereo modes (MS, XY-wide and XY-narrow)
'The MKH 8018 is a high-class shotgun model that rounds off our MKH portfolio at the top end,' says Kai Lange, senior product manager for the MKH series. 'It has extremely low self-noise and truly excellent sound, very clear and pure due to the mic's great off-axis rejection. Moisture resistance, minimal non-linar distortion, and a balanced audio signal at the transformerless, fully floating output are further benefits of the RF condenser technology, which Sennheiser has been perfecting for more than 60 years.'
Lightweight, non-modular, and with a tailored frequency response
To make the MKH 8018 as easy to handle as possible, the Sennheiser engineers have given it an aluminium housing to have less weight on a camera or boom pole. Also, the microphone is – unlike most of the other mics in the 8000 series – non-modular with a fixed XLR-5M output and integrated -10 dB pad against overdriving, filters for tailoring the frequency response, and an additional switchable -3 dB low-cut filter at 70 Hz.
The MKH 8018 has been tailored to broadcasting and filming applications
As the MKH 8018 has been designed for broadcasting and filming applications, the usual extremely wide frequency response of the MKH mics has been limited to 40 – 20,000 Hz. This avoids any overloading of the mixing console with unhearable distortion below 40 Hz and above 20 kHz, where ultrasonic camera lens measurement systems are active.
Matrix inside
The MKH 8018 impresses with its homogeneous sound image, and can output MS stereo for further processing in the studio or on a mixer, or – via an internal matrix – XY stereo in a wide or narrow mode without the need for an external mixer. In XY-w, the mic emphasizes the side signal to a greater extent, thus capturing more ambience. In XY-n, the focus is more on the mid signal, giving the sound engineer more directionality.
The MKH 8018 is delivered complete with an MZQ 100 microphone clip, MZW 8018 foam windshield and a threaded plastic transport tube. The MZR 8000 camera adapter (pictured below on the right) wraps around the microphone body and ensures a secure fit with other mic clips and on cameras.

Sennheiser introduces Profile Wireless 1-channel mic and releases 32-bit float firmware update - Middle East Business News and Information

New system caters to solo creators, while keeping users' options for upgrading open Dubai, 16 May 2025 – Sennheiser today announced a one-channel version of its Profile Wireless 2.4 GHz all-in-one microphone solution. The streamlined single-mic system comes in a compact bag and includes a second USB charging cable instead of the charging bar of the two-channel version launched in late 2024. Designed to be lightweight and ultra-portable, the one-channel version covers typical usage scenarios of solo creators, while allowing for later expansion of the system by including the same two-channel receiver as the Profile Wireless 2-channel system. Also, a 32-bit float firmware update for all Profile Wireless systems is available for download on the Sennheiser website from today. The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic system includes a clip-on mic with mini windshield and magnetic mount, a two-channel receiver, two USB cables, USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable and a shoe mount adapter Streamlined one-channel version 'Following the huge success of the Profile Wireless 2-channel system, we're now catering to the solo creator, who does not require the full two-channel package but would rather like to save on weight and cost and still have Sennheiser audio quality,' says Hendrik Millauer, Product Manager Broadcast & Film at Sennheiser. 'Profile Wireless 1-channel is also ideal for the casual user looking for a wireless mic to hook up to their laptop, for example.' Profile Wireless 1-channel is also an ideal solution for users looking for a wireless mic for their laptop Just like the two-channel version, the solo system is quick and easy to set up – no app required. It can be used on cameras, with smartphones and computers, and can be combined with an external lavalier microphone or even used to create a wireless boom. The mic has an operating time of up to seven hours, and 16 GB of memory for up to 30 hours of internal recording. Profile Wireless can also be used to create a wireless boom, here in combination with an MKE 400 mini-shotgun mic The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic system comes in a rugged pouch that includes the clip-on microphone with mini windshield and magnetic mount, a two-channel receiver, two USB cables, USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable and a shoe mount adapter. As all Profile Wirelesss components can also be bought separately, nothing stands in the way of expanding the system to two channels at a later point in time. 32-bit float update for Profile Wireless 'With the latest Profile Wireless firmware update, we're addressing user requests for a 32-bit float functionality,' says Millauer. 'This will allow creators to record with extremely high dynamic range, and help them to recover clipped audio.' For 32-bit float recording, Profile Wireless combines the audio signals of the two A/D converters inside the Profile Wireless mics to create a single 32-bit float audio stream. Creators who prefer 24-bit recording due to its lower memory requirement still have the option to deactivate 32-bit float recording and turn on the Safety Channel Mode. This will output a -6dB version of the audio in addition to the original sound level and thus help protect against clipping. To update their Profile Wireless system to firmware version V4.1.0, creators are asked to visit . Under Downloads, they will find various firmware updates for Mac and PC, with a smart tool guiding them through the update process for the receiver and transmitter(s). Please note that the first batches of the Profile Wireless 1-channel mic also need to be updated to firmware version V4.1.0. Millauer concludes, 'With the addition of the one-channel system and 32-bit float recording, Profile Wireless becomes the most versatile tool for creators who value excellent sound and see it as a key differentiator for quality content.' The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic is available from today and retails at EUR 199 (MSRP), USD 199 (MAP), or GBP 169 (MSRP). Sennheiser Brings Spectera, the world's first wideband, bidirectional, digital wireless ecosystem, to CABSAT 2025

In association with long-standing partner Venuetech. Dubai, 29 April 2025 – At CABSAT 2025, Sennheiser Middle East in association with Venuetech will introduce and demonstrate Spectera, the world's first bidirectional wideband solution. Using the ground-breaking WMAS (Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems) technology, Spectera greatly reduces wireless system complexity, while at the same time considerably increasing capability, enabling time-saving workflows and offering full remote control and monitoring, including permanent spectrum sensing. Attendees of the show will have the opportunity to view and participate in demos of the groundbreaking system at Sennheiser stand in CABSAT 2025 H1-G15, Sheikh Saeed Halls 1. About Spectera Spectera features bidirectional bodypacks that manage both digital IEM/IFB and mic/line signals at the same time. The solution is remarkably resistant to RF fading and allows for flexible use of the wideband RF channel, for example for digital IEMs with a latency down to a spectacular 0.7 milliseconds. 'We are thrilled to see years of technological development and spectrum policy work turn into a digital wireless ecosystem that will solve many of the issues that users of wireless multichannel systems are faced with today,' say Mig Cardamone, Sales Director of Sennheiser Middle East . 'Our wideband solution will be ideal for large productions, whether in the touring, broadcasting, or theatre fields, or in any other area that requires multichannel audio setups. Spectera satisfies our customers' chief desires and needs regarding ease of use, operational reliability and flexibility. It offers less hardware, drastically reduced frequency coordination, redundancy, and the flexibility of an ecosystem that grows with your needs.' Powered by WMAS – The wideband approach Bidirectional digital wideband transmission addresses many of the typical challenges that users, operators and owners of wireless audio systems experience today. These challenges include overly complex frequency coordination and complicated rack cabling for high channel counts, and the large footprint that a multichannel wireless system still has – in the warehouse, on tour and backstage, both for space and the amount of time required for load-in, load-out and setup. Large backstage racks with IEM transmitters and microphone receivers can be replaced with a single smart Base Station The technology developed is a proprietary variant of OFDM-TDMA, specifically tailored to reliable multichannel, bidirectional, low-latency communication. Instead of many individual 200 kHz narrowband RF carrier frequencies, Spectera uses a single wideband RF channel for audio transmission – bidirectional transmission of audio and control data, to be more exact. In Sennheiser's approach, the wideband RF channel is a TV channel of 6 or 8 MHz, depending on local regulations. The WMAS system organises its audio links within this channel. Every audio link, be it a mic or an IEM, is assigned specific time slots for transmitting its audio information – for the first time, it is possible to have IEMs and mics in the very same TV channel instead of two channels separated by a guard band. Thanks to the fact that all audio links use the full width of the RF channel when it's 'their turn', RF fading is greatly reduced. It corresponds to 40-fold diversity for an 8 MHz RF channel and 30-fold diversity for a 6 MHz TV channel. Also, the spectral density is low, which makes it easier to reuse frequencies, for example on a larger festival ground, between neighbouring theatres, or in a broadcasting complex. Greatly reduced system complexity One of the most stunning innovations in the Spectera ecosystem is certainly the Base Station, which, in a single rack unit with up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs, replaces a rack-full of wireless mic receivers and IEM transmitters. An entire production could be accommodated in a single wideband RF channel (6 or 8 MHz). The lower footprint continues to the bodypacks, which handle mic/line and IEM/IFB requirements simultaneously. 'Having just one pack is not only a great asset for performers,' says Ryan Burr, Head of Technical Sales & Application Engineering, Sennheiser Middle East 'it also makes the work of the sound engineer easier, who has just one type of pack and can, if required, quickly add an IEM to a mic. Warehousing also becomes less complex, with just one Base Station and two frequency variants – UHF and 1G4 – for bodypacks and antennas.' The future of wireless pro audio is here – and it's bidirectional Spectera represents a total shift in control and monitoring: It doesn't just offer a back channel, but continuous two-way communication throughout, for truly complete remote control. Via the permanent control data stream, audio settings can be adjusted, IEM and mic levels adapted, RF health and battery status monitored, and much more. AES 256 encryption (AES 256 CTR Mode with >10kYears expiry) for both audio and control data ensures the necessary data privacy. Also, all units help in continuously sensing the spectrum, meaning they scan for potential interference from other RF sources. With Spectera, it is possible for the first time to see 'behind' the RF channel that is actually being used and detect interference. Excellent audio quality Spectera delivers signature Sennheiser digital audio quality for mics, instruments and IEMs, employing different application-optimised audio codecs, which are all internally processed with 32-bit-float precision. Eleven Audio Link Modes allow for selectable control of audio quality, latency, channel count, and operating range for each and every audio link, flexibly throughout a production. The operator can always use the RF channel to the maximum, either by giving fewer audio links a high quality or by allowing more links and reducing the quality accordingly. 'Spectera is a game-changer for the pro audio industry, and we're proud to bring it to the region in partnership with Sennheiser at CABSAT 2025,' says Alice Macaluso, Brand Manager of Sennheiser at Venuetech . 'It's unmatched ability to combine high performance, compact design, and complete bidirectional signal and control opens up an entirely new chapter in wireless audio. This launch reflects Venuetech's ongoing commitment to delivering cutting-edge innovation to our clients across broadcast, live production, and installation sectors.' Additional product information and pictures can be downloaded from here . Experience Spectera Live during CABSAT at Sennheiser Booth H1-G15, Sheikh Saeed Halls in association with Venuetech.
