A slick new three-level pub with panoramic rooftop views opens near Southern Cross Station
Whether you're a Docklands lover or hater, there's no denying it: this end of the CBD gets a lot of foot traffic due to throngs of Southern Cross Station commuters, footy fans headed to Marvel Stadium and the suited and booted corporate folks. So it's only fitting that the city's newest after-work spot should land right in the middle of all the action.
Contemporary three-storey pub Quarterhouse – set in the Melbourne Quarter precinct, hence the name – promises to be a touch more stylish than your average sports bar on this end of the CBD (Think DJ sets! Rooftop views! Wagyu skewers!). But not too fancy to alienate those simply seeking a fuss-free drink in a comfy, welcoming space.
With its plentiful booths, banquettes and umbrella-shaded street-side tables, the ground floor is your new home for frosty pints and approachable grub like burgers, parmas and fries. Huddle in with the crowd and catch a game on the four-metre-wide LED screen, or if you've popped in on a Sunday arvo, treat yourself to a proper hangover-curing roast (it's $35 and includes all the trimmings, plus bottomless gravy).
It's the top level where things get a little sophisticated, thanks to a stylish rooftop bar with an open-air wrap-around terrace playing host to long lunches, acoustic artists and DJs on weekends. This part of the pub opens out onto the brand new Sky Park, suspended above Collins Street, and tides its guests over all week long with tasty wood-fired pizzas, share-style snacks and larger gastropub-inspired dishes like pan-fried barramundi and crumbed pork rib eye.
Wedged in between the ground floor and rooftop, the first level is designed to be a flexible and convenient functions and events space. In total, the entire multi-level venue has capacity for up to 1,400 patrons.
'Quarterhouse is exactly what this part of the CBD has been missing,' comments venue manager Luke Bottoms.
' It's everything Melburnians love about a pub; casual and with something for everyone, whilst also offering something unique with our rooftop bar overlooking the Sky Park.'
Whether you're looking for a quick pre-drink before your fave team plays at Marvel or you're hungry for a bit of rooftop atmosphere, Quarterhouse is new, nice-looking and well worth a visit.
Visit the website for more information. Quarterhouse is now open at 693 Collins St, Docklands, from 11.30am to late daily.

Netflix fans only have days to watch ‘inspiring' Florence Pugh film
One of Florence Pugh's earliest and best movies is only on Netflix until the end of the month Netflix subscribers have just a couple of weeks to stream one of Florence Pugh's heartwarming breakout films before it's removed. This could be your last chance to watch it at no extra cost if you're already subscribed, so make sure you don't miss out. Currently starring in the hit Marvel blockbuster Thunderbolts*, Pugh's success has skyrocketed in recent years thanks to roles in Oppenheimer, Midsommar and Little Women. However, before starring in major Hollywood hits, she began her career with a number of smaller yet equally impressive indie films, such as Lady Macbeth and the horror film Malevolent. Released in the same year as Midsommar, the underappreciated comedy-drama Fighting with My Family is currently on Netflix, but you've only got until Monday, 23rd June to watch it. Directed by The Office legend Stephen Merchant and based on the inspiring story of Norwich-born wrestler Saraya Bevis, aka Paige, this inspiring drama follows her rise to success in the WWE from humble beginnings. As Paige's career goes from strength to strength, her brother Zak Zodiac (played by Jack Lowden) struggles with her new celebrity status. While Fighting with My Family isn't quite as well-known as some of Pugh's more recent hits, it's developed a passionate cult following and is well worth a watch before it leaves Netflix. In addition to Pugh and Lowden, iconic British stars Lena Headey and Nick Frost star as Paige's parents, while US A-listers Vince Vaughn and Dwayne Johnson also make appearances. Fans have been raving about the film since its release in 2019, with one five-star Google review admitting: 'Honestly obsessed with this film. 'Watched it about 10 times! So good to see a film about the youngest ever divas champion. The siblings in this film bring me to tears.' I thought the story of Paige journey was told exceptionally well - laughs and moments where you want to reach in the screen and hug some of the characters. 'I found myself literally screaming and cheering Paige at some points in the film. Truly a great movie and story! So proud of that woman!' Movie buffs have also been championing the film on Letterboxd, with one reviewer penning: 'It will make you laugh until you cry, cry until you have no tears left, and it will make you want to hug your loved ones and never let go. 'Also can't write this review without mentioning that Florence Pugh shines like the sun in everything she dips her toes in, she is so incredible and I could watch her do anything for any length of time. I'm in such awe when I watch her.' And a final fan called it 'extremely heartwarming, inspiring, funny and just all around fantastic!!!!' Make sure you add Fighting With My Family to the top of your watchlist before it leaves streaming in just a couple of weeks. Fighting With My Family is available on Netflix until Monday, 23rd June.

Marvel fans beg for Ryan Gosling to lead Black Panther 3 after white version of superhero revealed
Marvel fans wasted no time putting Ryan Gosling at the top of their dream cast list for Black Panther 3 after the latest comic storyline introduced a white version of the iconic superhero. The premiere issue of Marvel Knights: The World to Come, which dropped Wednesday, introduces a new character named Ketema—the son of T'Challa, prince of Wakanda and the original Black Panther. In a dramatic twist, Ketema grows to resent his father and eventually challenges him for the throne. After defeating T'Challa in battle, Ketema removes his mask—revealing blond hair, blue eyes, and distinctly Caucasian features. The role of T'Challa was famously portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman in the first two Black Panther films. Now, with Black Panther 3 reportedly in development and the character's legacy evolving in the comics, fans have taken to social media to suggest Gosling—best known as Barbie's Ken—as a potential successor. To complete the meme, Ryan Gosling as Ketema for the next Black Panther film in MCU. He needs to be cast to complete the circle of memes. PLEASE Marvel and Disney I want this. — Anya Faye (@Rikoveno) June 4, 2025 'Please say Ryan Gosling is going to be the Black Panther!' one fan posted alongside a photo of Ryan as Ken, while another begged, 'PLEASE Marvel and Disney I want this.' And one concluded, 'The "maybe Ryan Gosling should be Black Panther" fans have won.' One chimed in, 'I guess that Ryan Gosling is the new Black Panther and people are pissed that it's being whitewashed and are threatening to boycott Avengers: Doomsday.' While there has been no official word on Gosling joining the Black Panther cast, fans have speculated for years about the Canadian heartthrob finally entering the MCU. When asked about rumors of playing a Marvel superhero in a 2022 MTV News interview, Gosling joked, 'I was waiting for the Captain Canada call.' The actor later told MTV News' Josh Horowitz that he is interested in playing Ghost Rider. It's a character he's long been familiar with, since his longtime partner, Eva Mendes, starred in Ghost Rider back in 2007. Meanwhile, when the Black Panther news dropped Wednesday, social media instantly went into meltdown mode. 'Please say Ryan Gosling is going to be the Black Panther!' one fan posted alongside a photo of Ryan as Ken, while another begged, 'PLEASE Marvel and Disney I want this' 'They looked at this and thought it was a good idea?' one user fumed. Another quipped, 'Life is a horror movie in 2025.' Boseman's Black Panther was celebrated for honoring African culture and representation. Now, some fans are questioning whether the latest storyline undermines that legacy. 'Black Panther having a white son would be ridiculous,' one person posted, while another raged, 'Black Panther is WHITE! Marvel actually did the unthinkable and it's INSANE!' Some even speculated about which actor might play the character in a future film. 'I guess he looks a little like Ryan Gosling,' one fan wrote. What if Ryan Gosling is coming into Marvel to play the Black Panther after all? In a new comic, the all new Black Panther is white dude. — meme bastard 🍕 (@mask_bastard) June 4, 2025 Another added, 'What if Ryan Gosling is coming into Marvel to play the Black Panther after all?' Meanwhile, others online were quick to clarify that the writer behind the new comic is Black. 'Lol stop letting these non-Black people touch Black Panther. They do silly stuff like this,'' one critic commented—prompting another to respond: 'The writer is Black.' Indeed, Christopher Priest—who co-created Marvel Knights: The World To Come alongside Joe Quesada, Richard Isanove, and Richard Starkings—is widely recognized as the first Black writer-editor in mainstream comics. He previously served as editor of Spider-Man in the mid-1980s and later penned major titles at DC, including Green Lantern. Still, one disgruntled fan claimed: 'If there would be any writer who would try to give the Black Panther mantle to a white person, of course it would be Christopher Priest—the man who made it his job to shove white characters into Wakanda's mythos lol.' The Marvel Knights: The World To Come issue kicks off with T'Challa's death, but the real twist comes as the story rewinds to reveal how he got there, according to After the death of his wife Storm, T'Challa attempts to preserve his legacy by fathering a child with Lynne, one of his earliest love interests in the comics. That child, a son named Ketema—whose name means 'fortified encampment'—grows up to challenge his father for the throne of Wakanda. Wearing the full Black Panther suit, Ketema defeats T'Challa in combat but spares his life. Then comes the jaw-dropping reveal: he removes his mask to show that he is, in fact, white. The big question lingering for fans is how T'Challa could possibly have a white son. Some readers are now speculating that Monica Lynne might not be the boy's mother after all, per the outlet. Instead, attention has turned to Nicole Adams—a character who seems to appear on the cover of Issue #3—as a more likely candidate. Although Nicole was believed to have died back in 2000, long-time comic fans know that death is rarely permanent in the Marvel universe. Regardless of how the lineage shakes out, one thing has stunned readers across the board: the Black Panther mantle now appears to belong to someone who presents as white.

Major mobile network is giving customers FREE access to Disney+ – check your account now before it's gone
DISNEY+ fans can now bag three months of the streaming service completely free – but the deal won't be around for long. The offer is being handed out by Vodafone to eligible customers across the UK via the VeryMe Rewards app. 2 It runs from 5 June 2025 until 8 June 2025, so you've only got a short window to grab it. To claim it, open the My Vodafone app on your smartphone, head to the VeryMe Rewards section, and tap on the Disney+ banner if it's available to you. Hit 'Claim' and follow the steps to activate your free 3-month subscription to Disney+ Standard with Ads. The offer is open to new and returning Disney+ subscribers aged 18 or over. There's no catch – you'll get full access to Disney+ content with ads, and you can cancel at any time. If you don't cancel after three months, you'll be charged £4.99 per month starting automatically. The Disney+ Standard with Ads plan includes everything from classic Disney favourites to Marvel blockbusters and exclusive original series. You can stream on up to two devices at once in Full HD quality. Featured on the platform is The Stolen Girl, a gripping mystery about the kidnapping of nine-year-old Lucia following a sleepover at her friend's house. Other titles available include Flintoff, the raw documentary on the sporting icon, Good American Family, a chilling true-life adoption tale, and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Also on offer is Dying for Sex, a heartbreakingly funny FX series that's been getting rave reviews. All are included in the standard plan, so you won't miss out on any content. Only one subscription can be claimed per user, and you'll need to check your VeryMe Rewards to see if you qualify. If you're already paying for Disney+, you'll need to cancel and wait until your billing period ends before you can resubscribe and use the offer – if eligible. This comes just as Disney+ prepares to raise its prices. From 24 March, the Premium annual plan went from £79.90 to £109.90, and monthly Premium jumped from £7.99 to £10.99. The cheaper ad-supported tier now costs £4.99 a month – the same as Vodafone's offer once the trial ends. But Vodafone isn't the only way to watch without paying. Selected Samsung phones, tablets and laptops come with either six or twelve months of Disney+ Standard. The perk applies to devices bought recently and some older models too. Check your eligibility on Samsung's Boost page. Join or upgrade to Uber One's annual subscription, and you may receive an email offering 12 months of Disney+ Standard. It's worth checking your inbox or app notifications if you're a subscriber. If you bank with Lloyds and have a Club Lloyds account, you can choose a Disney+ subscription as your free yearly lifestyle benefit. It's easy to activate through your online banking or app. With rising streaming costs, these hidden perks could save you more than £100 a year. If you're already paying for Disney+, it might be time to cancel, check your subscriptions, and claim a free one through your network, bank or tech provider. SUBSCRIPTION TRICK – SAVE HUNDREDS! Once you've checked your subscription renewals, try the swap trick too... Here's a clever method from The Sun's tech editor Sean Keach: Look, streaming bills are a nightmare. Especially when it comes to TV. There are loads of services – all packed with top telly – that demand your cash. So consider rotating them instead. Cancel all of them but, say, Disney+, then watch that for a month. Now bin it, and move on to Netflix, and enjoy that content library. Then scrap that, and swap to Amazon's Prime Video for the third month. Once you're done (or you've added a fourth service to your mix), start over from the beginning. It means you get to watch all of the top TV shows and movies on these services without paying for a full 12 months for each. You'll save hundreds over a year. Picture Credit: Sean Keach 2
