U.S. Action In Iran-Israel Conflict Worsens Situation, Undermines Stability
KUCHING, June 22 (Bernama) -- Interference by major powers such as the United States in the Iran-Israel conflict will only worsen the situation and undermine regional stability as well as the global economy, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.
He said the United States' involvement in the conflict could escalate tensions and have a direct impact on key global trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
'Now, with the involvement of external powers, including the United States, the situation will only become more volatile. If the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, it will pose a major problem to the global economy,' he told reporters after a session with the Sarawak Keadilan Leadership Council here.

PM extends aid to struggling single mother, student
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has presented a contribution to Melah Idris, a single mother living in poverty and suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. The contribution was handed over by the Prime Minister's political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, when he visited the 63-year-old mother of eight at her home in Kampung Padang, Kuantan. "On behalf of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, I am presenting a small contribution and will look into the most appropriate form of assistance for her, not only in terms of financial aid but also in ensuring a safer place for her to live," he said in a Facebook post shared by the prime minister today. In the same post, Ahmad Farhan expressed hope that no citizen would be left to suffer in silence without receiving proper assistance. In Bachok, Kelantan, PKR central leadership council member Prof Dr Maszlee Malik extended aid from the prime minister to Muhammad Syimir Amar AlMuktar, 18, an underprivileged student from Kampung Pengkalan Chengal, Perupok. He visited the student on Anwar's behalf under the Ziarah Kasih Madani initiative. Maszlee said Muhammad Syimir, who scored 8As in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, was facing financial difficulties in continuing his studies at Politeknik Arau, Perlis. "We were informed that he comes from a struggling family, raised by a single mother. "When the prime minister learned of his situation, he immediately wanted to help by providing a laptop. "This government is committed to ensuring no student is left behind due to financial hardship. Anwar calls on Sarawak PKR to strengthen party's grassroots
KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the Sarawak leadership line-up to continue strengthening the party's grassroots following the recent party elections in May. The Prime Minister said PKR's grassroots strength must be embraced, reminding those who won in the election not to be arrogant but instead to work together with all parties, including those who lost. "Each of us has our own role and strength to continue serving the people. Anwar urges restraint after US attack on Iran's nuclear sites
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the US's involvement in the Iran-Israel conflict is only worsening the situation. PETALING JAYA : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has raised concerns over the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel after US forces struck three of the republic's nuclear sites. Anwar stressed that for genuine resolution, pressure must be placed on Israel to stop its provocative and violent actions against other nations. 'When they launch attacks and kill the people of Iran, there will inevitably be retaliation. Our position is one of fairness. 'In Gaza, the killings continue and it includes women and children. Now Israel is attacking Iran, which has decided to fight back. The involvement of outside powers, including the US, is only worsening the situation,' he told reporters after an event in Kuching today. Anwar, who also serves as finance minister, warned that a closure of the Strait of Hormuz would have dire consequences on the global economy. 'To me, what matters most are human lives and justice. 'The question is, if Iran is not allowed to respond, why allow Israel to (continue) acting in such a manner?' he said. Earlier today, AFP reported US president Donald Trump as saying that 'Tehran's nuclear programme had been obliterated' after US forces struck three Iranian nuclear sites – Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow – in a 'very successful attack'. After days of deliberation and long before his self-imposed two-week deadline, Trump's decision to join Israel's military campaign against Iran represents a major escalation of the conflict. In a speech that lasted just over three minutes, Trump said Iran's future held 'either peace or tragedy', and that there were many other targets that could be hit by the US military. Yemen's Houthis had said they will target US vessels and battleships in the Red Sea if the Trump administration gets involved and continued to support the Israeli attack on Iran, according to a statement published on a Houthi spokesman's official Telegram account. Shell Plc CEO Wael Sawan and Petronas group CEO Tengku Muhammad Taufik Aziz have in the past week warned of rude shocks to global trade and oil prices following the escalating conflict around the Strait of Hormuz, a major transit route. In a separate statement, opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin said Perikatan Nasional strongly condemned the acts of aggression carried out by both Israel and the US against Iran.
