Lebanese Army assists returning residents amid Israeli violations in South Lebanon
The Lebanese Army announced in a statement that it continues to accompany returning residents to southern border towns and stands by them in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression.
Acting in line with its national duty, the army remains steadfast despite Israel's persistent attacks targeting both civilians and military personnel, which have resulted in a significant number of casualties. The Israeli army has refused to comply with the ceasefire agreement and withdraw from Lebanese territory.
Meanwhile, Lebanese forces are advancing their operations by entering and deploying across several southern towns, ensuring a stable security environment for the returning residents. The army has called on citizens to adhere to the guidance of military units to guarantee their safety and facilitate a smooth return process.
The Lebanese military reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring the evolving situation in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the mechanism committee overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Amid security risks, south Lebanon's farmers face uncertainty as agriculture ministry pushes to revive farming

Half of the Marjayoun plain—about 17 million square meters—is off-limits due to the ongoing threat of Israeli military patrols, the latest of which residents documented on Friday. This marks the third consecutive season that southern farmers have faced uncertainty and fear. In response, the Ministry of Agriculture launched an initiative to revive the sector by securing safety guarantees for farmers who wish to return to their land. Under the plan, interested farmers must file a request with their local municipality, including their name, phone number, land registration area, and type of agricultural activity. These requests will be forwarded to the ministry, which will coordinate with the Lebanese army and UNIFIL to obtain safety assurances for the farmers. The ministry aims to secure ongoing access, requiring farmers to specify the number of planned visits based on the crop type and growing season. Agricultural losses in front-line villages—from Kfarchouba to Naqoura—have exceeded 80% due to wildfires and bulldozing operations. The Agriculture Ministry attempted to offset some of these losses by planting olive trees with support from international organizations. Beyond crop damage, livestock losses have been devastating—even in second-line villages. Many farms have been destroyed, and numerous herders were forced to sell their animals at a loss to survive. While this initiative is a first step toward recovery, results are far from guaranteed as long as Israel continues to dictate the fate of Lebanon's southern border communities through force, intimidation, and violence.

Watch: The President in Baghdad
President Joseph Aoun arrived at Baghdad International Airport at 10 am on Sunday, where he was received by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, his office director Ihsan Al Awadi, the head of the Iraqi National Security Service Abdel Karim Al Basri, along with several senior Iraqi officials, the Lebanese ambassador to Iraq Ali Habhab, the chargé d'affaires Nada Majoul, and embassy staff. The President and the Iraqi Prime Minister proceeded to the platform where the Lebanese and Iraqi national anthems were played, followed by an honor guard review. President Aoun then greeted members of the Iraqi delegation, while Prime Minister Sudani greeted members of the Lebanese delegation. From the airport, President Aoun made the following statement: 'I am pleased to accept the invitation of my brother, His Excellency the President of the brotherly Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid, whom I previously met in Cairo on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit held in the Egyptian capital. This visit is also an opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, reflecting the depth of the historic brotherly relations that bind Lebanon and Iraq and embody our shared commitment to enhancing cooperation and coordination in various fields. This visit is an opportunity to thank the Iraqi leadership and the brotherly Iraqi people for their continuous support to Lebanon and for the valuable assistance they have provided to the Lebanese people, especially during the recent war witnessed by Lebanon. We also highly appreciate the shipments of Iraqi oil, which have provided vital support to Lebanon in its difficult circumstances, expressing the sincere spirit of Arab brotherhood and its noble meanings. Lebanese army raids drug manufacturing sites, arrests suspects
As part of ongoing efforts to combat drug manufacturing and trafficking, a unit of the Lebanese army, supported by an intelligence patrol, raided Captagon pill factories in the Harf al-Samaqa area of Hermel near the Lebanon-Syria border. The army seized raw materials used to produce the pills and demolished the manufacturing sites. In parallel with security operations, army units backed by intelligence patrols conducted raids on the homes of wanted individuals, making several arrests. Investigations into the suspects are underway under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
