Audi is gearing up to unveil the next generation of its A7 lineup, with a high-performance RS 7 variant in development by the Audi Sport division. For the first time, the RS 7 will be offered in an Avant wagon body style, as prototypes have been spotted testing ahead of a late 2025 or early 2026 debut.
The new RS 7 marks a significant shift in Audi's approach to performance. While past models utilized a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, the next-generation RS 7 is reportedly transitioning to a plug-in hybrid V-6 setup. According to Car Magazine, the hybrid system will deliver approximately 725 horsepower, with a more powerful RS 7 Performance model in development, projected to achieve an output nearing 800 hp. The electrified powertrain will include a temporary 50-horsepower boost, enhancing its performance capabilities.
This V6 hybrid system will also power the forthcoming RS 5, producing around 600 horsepower. While the combustion engine component remains consistent across both models, the electric motor will differentiate the performance levels of each. The hybrid powertrain aligns with Audi's plan to phase out gas engines in favor of electrification as part of its broader commitment to sustainability.
The move away from the V8 creates a direct link to Audi's Formula 1 program. The V-6 hybrid system mirrors the power unit Audi is developing for its factory F1 team, which is set to debut in 2026. This timing aligns closely with the launch of the next-gen RS 7, symbolizing Audi's synergy between motorsport innovation and road car development.

The Evolution of the Chevy Corvette: America's Sports Car Turns Supercar

Read the full story on Modern Car Collector In a new feature video from Modern Car Collector (MCC), viewers are invited to take a thrilling ride through time in "The Evolution of the Chevrolet Corvette: From Classic to Supercar", a visual chronicle of how America's beloved sports car became a global performance powerhouse. The Corvette's story began in 1953 as a sleek concept car revealed at the GM Motorama in New York. With just 300 hand-built units, the original C1 set the tone for a bold new chapter in American automotive history. But it was visionaries like Harley Earl, GM's legendary design chief, and Zora Arkus-Duntov, often called the "Father of the Corvette," who pushed the car beyond its show-car roots and into true performance territory. The MCC video walks viewers through all eight generations of Corvette evolution—from the split-window C2 Sting Ray and the brute-force C3 big blocks, to the high-tech innovations of the C4 and the return to racing form with the C5 Z06. As each generation progressed, so too did Corvette's capabilities, culminating in today's C8 platform, the first production Corvette with a mid-engine layout. Highlights include the C8 ZR1, a supercharged beast expected to push 850 horsepower, and the Corvette E-Ray, which fuses electrification with all-wheel drive for the first time in the model's history. This engaging MCC production doesn't just focus on horsepower—it celebrates the cultural significance of the Corvette, its place in racing lore, and its unmatched ability to adapt and evolve without losing its American soul. Whether you're a lifelong Corvette enthusiast or a newcomer to the legend, "The Evolution of the Chevrolet Corvette: From Classic to Supercar" is a must-watch journey through 70 years of performance, innovation, and iconic design. Popular tire company makes harsh cost-cutting decision amid declines

Popular tire company makes harsh cost-cutting decision amid declines originally appeared on TheStreet. When thinking about Formula 1, the world's most prestigious motor racing competition, only a few tire brands come to mind. This is because the motorsport uses a single tire supplier to ensure an even playing field for all teams, and the selected manufacturer must be exceptionally reliable and capable of meeting the sport's demanding performance standards. This popular tire company rose to stardom as Formula 1's tire supplier from 1997 to 2010, providing tires for top teams like Ferrari for many years. 💵💰 💵💰 Ultimately, the company chose to end its long-standing partnership with Formula 1 in 2010 to refocus its resources and prioritize its business, as the returns on investment no longer met even the world's largest tire and rubber company is not immune to today's economic challenges or devastating shutdowns to make ends meet. The multinational tire and rubber company Bridgestone Corp. has faced various business challenges over the last few months, including a decline in tire demand in the North American market, partly due to increased imports of low-priced tires. These bumps in the road have only grown due to U.S. tariff implementations and the uncertain economy. To mitigate the effects of these challenges, the company developed a Mid-Term Business Plan that would be enacted from 2024 to 2026. This multi-year strategy consisted of significant cost reductions and various restructurings to strengthen the company in the first quarter of fiscal 2025, once positive numbers have now flipped, total revenues declined by 1% compared to last year, and the Americas went down 3%. The company predicts more negative revenues for the rest of 2025, predicting a 2% decline compared to the year prior. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corp. () , filed a WARN notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) on May 30 to inform the state that it will be permanently closing its Bridgestone facility in La Vergne, Tenn., on July 31, impacting 658 hourly and staffed workers. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, requires companies to give employees 60 days' notice before planned closures or mass layoffs. This filing comes months after the company made the initial announcement of the closure in January, but no filing had yet been made. More Retail News:"This decision is part of the company's strategic initiatives to optimize its business footprint, strengthen its competitiveness and enhance the quality of the company's U.S. operations," stated the company in the initial announcement. The closure reduces costs in strategic areas, allowing Bridgestone Americas to operate more efficiently and focus on value creation, which is the second part of its Mid-Term Business Plan that will take place from 2024 to 2025. Since the day the WARN notice was filed, Bridgestone Corp.'s stock has declined by over 6% as of June 4.
