The New York Knicks made an impressive run to the Eastern Conference Finals run during the 2024-25 NBA season. Unfortunately, they ran into a red-hot Indiana Pacers team who were able to eliminate them in six games.
Following the series loss, there were questions about whether or not the Knicks could consider firing head coach Tom Thibodeau. Despite the speculation, that was not a move the team was expected to make after such a successful season.
Thibodeau was indeed relieved of his head coaching duties on June 3.

So far, the Knicks have requested a lot of interviews with current head coaches across the league. They have been denied for those interviews.
It has been reported that the Dallas Mavericks denied a request to interview Jason Kidd, the Minnesota Timberwolves said no to Chris Finch, the Houston Rockets did the same with Ime Udoka, the Atlanta Hawks rejected a Quin Snyder interview, and the Chicago Bulls also shut down the idea of Billy Donovan.
To this point in the team's search, New York has swung and missed on every candidate it has the most interest in.
Now, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst has spoken out with some harsh criticism for the Knicks' decision to fire Thibodeau and their approach to finding a new head coach.
"It doesn't make sense to poach coaches that are on teams that have just had highly successful seasons and are in the middle of long-term contracts," Windhorst said. "So I think that they have failed in their strategy here of how they have approached this decision."

There are plenty of other candidates New York could turn to who aren't currently the head coach of another team.
Among those names are Johnnie Bryant, Michael Malone, Taylor Jenkins, Jay Wright, Dan Hurley, and Jeff Van Gundy. Frank Vogel could be another name to watch.
Outside of those names, there are other candidates. It seems very unlikely that other teams around the NBA are going to let their head coaches walk to join the Knicks. They may not get any of their top choices.

Are teams really interested in trading for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown?
Are teams really interested in trading for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown? Are teams really interested in trading for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown? The Georgia native is one of the top 20 or so players in the NBA, so there should be no reason that they would not want to have him on their roster, save for the cap concerns created by the second apron of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement (CBA). But they also have to think there is at least a chance they might be able to pry him away from the Celtics to let their interest in Brown slip to the league's news breakers, and we have recently heard from ESPN's Shams Charania that there is indeed interest in trading for the Cal alum. The folks behind the "WEEI Boston's Sports Original" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "WEEI Afternoons" show to talk it over recently. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.

Tyrese Haliburton's 4-word message to Pascal Siakam after epic Game 1 vs. Thunder
The post Tyrese Haliburton's 4-word message to Pascal Siakam after epic Game 1 vs. Thunder appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Indiana Pacers drew first blood in their triumphant return to the NBA Finals, securing a dramatic 111–110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The victory marked Indiana's first Finals triumph since Game 5 of their 2000 series against the Los Angeles Lakers. Although they trailed the entire game, the Pacers pulled off the unthinkable. They erased a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit and stole the win in the final second. Advertisement Tyrese Haliburton buried a clutch 21-foot jumper with just 0.3 seconds left, crushing Oklahoma City's hopes and sending Pacers fans into a frenzy. Meanwhile, for Thunder fans, it was a gut-wrenching collapse after watching their team dominate for most of the night. Haliburton struggled for much of the game but delivered when it mattered most. He finished with 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting. After the buzzer, an elated Haliburton had a message for Eastern Conference Finals MVP Pascal Siakam: 'Let's get greedy, man.' He added, 'We've got so much to work on,' acknowledging the team's imperfections. In response, Siakam agreed, saying, 'We didn't even play well.' Siakam led Indiana with 19 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, he paced a balanced attack that saw key contributions off the bench. Obi Toppin erupted for 17 points, including five three-pointers. Myles Turner added 15 and anchored the interior defense. Despite committing 25 turnovers, the Pacers outshot the Thunder at 47.6% and won the rebounding battle 56–43. Advertisement On the Thunder's side, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put on a show. He scored a game-high 38 points on 14-of-30 shooting. Furthermore, Lu Dort chipped in 15 points and helped establish an early defensive tone. Oklahoma City was disciplined with the ball, committing just seven turnovers. However, cold stretches and missed opportunities late proved costly. Even though they led nearly wire to wire, the Thunder couldn't close it out. Now, the Pacers hold a 1–0 series lead and carry all the momentum heading into Game 2. Even with the Finals just underway, Haliburton and Siakam have already made their presence felt under the brightest lights. If they continue to elevate their play, Indiana's storybook return could end with more than just a single statement win. Ultimately, Game 1 wasn't just a comeback, it was a warning: Haliburton and Siakam are here to take over. Richard Jefferson casually roasts Kendrick Perkins with Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton quip
The post Richard Jefferson casually roasts Kendrick Perkins with Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton quip appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Indiana Pacers just didn't bring enough to the table in Game 2 after suffering a 123-107 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Point guard Tyrese Haliburton struggled a bit as well, as he only scored five points going into the fourth quarter of the contest. While discussing Haliburton's postgame comments, Richard Jefferson took the opportunity to casually roast Kendrick Perkins on Sunday night. Advertisement Jefferson was praising Haliburton for admitting that he needs to score more often early on in the game. The former NBA forward turned analyst claimed that the Pacers' point guard scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter was 'empty calories.' He then made a side comment, stating that Kendrick Perkins 'knows about those.' Perkins couldn't do anything but laugh at the joke. 'I love it that Tyrese said 'I've gotta get myself going earlier in the game. I've gotta get feet in the paint.' And you saw that in the fourth quarter. He had five [points] going into the fourth. And then he gets those 12 points, but the game's out of reach. It's a 20-point game. Those are empty calories. Perk knows about those.' Richard Jefferson and Kendrick Perkins have become a comedic duo for ESPN in recent years. They often take jabs at one another, with Jefferson making fun of Perkins' weight, and Perkins making fun of Jefferson for being bald. Advertisement Whenever they can roast each other, they will. And Jefferson very smartly used Tyrese Haliburton's performance in the Pacers-Thunder Game 2 matchup to poke fun at his co-star. Jokes aside, Jefferson made a good point, though. Considering how well Haliburton has played, the Pacers' star point guard has to get going much sooner than the fourth quarter. Especially against this Thunder team that ended the regular season with the best record in the NBA at 68-14. Game 3 is set to tip off on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. EST. This will be the first contest of the series taking place in Indiana. The Pacers have a chance to stun Oklahoma City and take a 2-1 lead with the next two games being in Indiana.
