'PSG Deserved To Win This': Inzaghi Dismayed By Inter's Performance In UCL Final
As a result of their 5-0 collpase in the UCL final against PSG, Simone Inzaghi's Inter have now ended their season without trophies.
Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi expressed his dismay after his team suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Paris St Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday. This loss marked PSG's first Champions League title, achieved with the largest winning margin in the competition's history.
Inter, three-time European champions, ended a challenging season without any trophies, having been unsuccessful in three major competitions.
'It absolutely didn't feel like my Inter out there – and the players are the first to know it," said Inzaghi. His team had previously reached the final with an exciting 7-6 aggregate victory over Barcelona.
The defeat was particularly hard for Inzaghi, as it came two years after Inter's narrow loss to Manchester City in the 2023 final in Istanbul.
'I think PSG deserved to win," Inzaghi said in a brief press conference. Inter's last European title was under Jose Mourinho in 2010.
'There is great disappointment and bitterness because the boys had a great run this season, and it's hard to end with no titles. As a coach, I'm still proud. We're not satisfied with tonight's game. We approached it badly… We didn't play the final in the best way, but I thanked the boys."

PSG dominated the match, with teenager Desire Doue delivering an outstanding performance, scoring twice and setting up Achraf Hakimi's opener. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu also scored.
Inzaghi admitted that Inter struggled to match PSG's intensity.
'We were more tired than PSG, who clinched the French title several weeks ago while we were fighting for the Serie A until the final weekend," Inzaghi said. 'We didn't play well technically, they got there first… We knew they were stronger than us, we knew we had to be better, but we fully deserved the defeat."
Inter now needs to regroup for the Club World Cup in the United States in June. However, Inzaghi acknowledged that the pain of losing the Champions League final would linger, and he did not comment on whether he would still be with the club for the tournament.
'Heavy defeats and finals leave their mark. We must all start again together," he said. 'I won't answer that question (about the Club World Cup). I came out of politeness and respect for you, this defeat hurts too much. You come out stronger from defeats, we've been through this before and the following year we lost the Scudetto. I spoke to the lads and we need to hold our heads high, knowing that we came up against a stronger team who deserved to win."

Tennis-Djokovic hits French Open ton, Bublik stuns Draper for last-eight spot
PARIS -Three-times champion Novak Djokovic reached a century of wins at the French Open on Monday by making the quarter-finals in straight sets against Cameron Norrie while fellow seeds Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula crashed out to unfancied opponents. The sixth-seeded Serbian beat Briton Norrie 6-2 6-3 6-2 to edge closer to a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. Djokovic became the second man to win 100 matches at the Paris Grand Slam after retired 14-times champion Rafael Nadal , to set up a last-eight clash against Alexander Zverev. "It's a number which is very good and nice, but a 101st win is even better," Djokovic told the crowd in French. "It's not finished for me here the tournament and I feel very good and good to make history here. I hope there will be another win here in two days." His German opponent in the last eight spent even less time on the court, third seed Zverev punching his ticket when Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor retired midway through the second set with an abdominal injury.
