Tributes paid to ‘wonderful' Irishman after tragic car crash in Australia
James Kelly, from Co. Armagh, has been described 'a bright and cherished young man' following his sudden passing.
A community in Armagh has been left shaken following the death of a young man in an accident abroad.
James Kelly, from Armagh City, died as a result of an accident in Australia on May 17.
A funeral notice described James as the beloved son of Catherine and Jim, a cherished brother to Natalie, and a dearly loved grandson of Tommy, the late Marie Hagan, and the late Art and Mary Kelly.
Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Council, Sarah Duffy, said the 'devastating news has shaken our community.'
She said: 'I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of James Kelly, a young man from Armagh City, who lost his life while in Australia.

Tributes have poured in on social media following news of his death.
In a statement a spokesperson for Cuchulainn Hurling Club in Armagh said: 'It is with immense sadness that the Committee and Members of Cuchulainn Hurling Club have learned of the sudden passing of James Kelly in Australia, son of our esteemed Vice Chair and Club stalwart Jimmy, and we wish to tender our deepest sympathies to him, his wife Catherine, daughter Natalie, and the entire Kelly and Hagan family circle. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers at this incredibly difficult time.'
A spokesperson for Armagh Harps GFC added: 'Sincere condolences to the Kelly family, Cuchulainn Hurling Club and James' many friends following his sudden passing.'
Others also took to social media to offer condolences.
A spokesperson for Mount St Catherine's Primary School in Armagh said they were 'very sorry to hear this sad news' adding that James was a 'wonderful young man'.
A former teacher said: 'My goodness. I taught James for two years. A wee gentlemen. Too young. Very hard to comprehend.'
Another mourner on social media posted. 'Heartbreaking news, rest in peace James. Such a lovely lad deepest condolences to Cathy, Jim and Natalie.'

Charm and war telegrams under the thatch at €275k Glantane cottage
YOU'D half expect a rabbit in a waistcoat to greet you at The Thatch in Glantane, such is its whimsy and charm. In fact, it was bought by a real-life couple two years ago. One of their first tasks was to have the thatch re-done. They were able to source a thatcher with relative ease, as thatched homes remain a feature of the Blackwater Valley area. It took more than a week to do, and the result is masterful: Folk art and practical magic rolled into one. When the couple bought the house in 2023, it had been renovated by previous owners 20 years earlier but was vacant for a considerable time. The interior has a medieval feel, although the house is not much more than 100 years old. It's known locally as Finnegan's Cottage and selling agent Johanna Murphy, of Johanna Murphy & Sons, says it was a meeting place for units of the Lombardstown Volunteers in the lead-in to the War of Independence, with Liam Lynch a frequent visitor. 'When the house was refurbished, they found Volunteer telegrams hidden in the thatch,' the owners say. The current owners did quite a bit of 'freshening up' and site clearance. 'All the utilities are in place and in good order,' they say. New owners will still have a good bit of work to do but there are grants of up to €50,000 for a vacant property. There's also a thatching grant and insurance is in place. Previous owners extended the cottage and added a patio. Ms Murphy says if new owners wanted to extend further, there's a good example nearby of a modern extension added to a thatched cottage 'which complements it and brings it into the 21st century'. Glantane, near Mallow, is about a 30-minute drive from Cork City. The 119 sq m home is on the market with a €275,000 guide price. VERDICT: Could be quirky Airbnb or starter home. It deserves committed owners. It has fairytale charm, but PVC windows and doors need to go.

TRIBUTES are being paid to a young boy who died after he developed a sudden heart condition on a bouncy castle earlier this week. Antony Perissato de Aguiar, from Laois, died unexpectedly and peacefully at the Crumlin Hospital in Advertisement His parents have said they are 'devastated' following the death of their 'little man'. They said on "We are devastated to announce that our little man Antony Perissato de Aguiar, age 7, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at the Crumlin Hospital on the 4th June with his loving parents. "Antony was healthy and full of joy playing in a bouncy castle in a beautiful day when he suffered from a sudden heart condition." The young boy's funeral service will take place this afternoon.
