The minister shared the information about his review meeting of the TTDF on his social media account.
"TTDF is our flagship fund to support R&D and innovation in telecom technologies. Since launch, Rs 499.6 Cr approved for 120 projects in 5G, 6G, chipsets & quantum tech," Pemmasani said on social media platform X.
Launched on October 1, 2022 and implemented by Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), TTDF supports cutting-edge research in areas such as 6G, quantum communication, secure chipsets, and intelligent rural connectivity.
Since inception, the scheme has received over 1,340 proposals, with 120 R&D projects approved and Rs 499.6 crore sanctioned, of which Rs 187 crore has already been disbursed.

DoT sources, who were aware of the developments at the meeting, shared that the minister emphasised the need for measurable outcomes from public investments in R&D and suggested a series of reforms to strengthen TTDF's implementation framework.
"He highlighted that projects supported under TTDF should be closely aligned with real-world objectives, backed by clear monitoring mechanisms. To expedite decision-making, he suggested that the structure of evaluation committees may be streamlined and timelines clearly defined," a source said.
He also encouraged greater involvement of reputed private equity professionals and domain experts to enrich the assessment process and improve sectoral relevance, the source added.
The review came shortly after the TTDF Symposium 2025, held at IIT Madras Research Park from June 19-21, where 112 funded projects were evaluated across 12 technology verticals by over 40 expert mentors.
Recognising the importance of sustained oversight, Pemmasani is learnt to have proposed monthly reviews of TTDF's progress at his level to enable timely feedback and course correction.
"In a bid to boost participation from emerging enterprises, he suggested simplifying the scheme guidelines to reduce entry barriers for startups and MSMEs. Structural streamlining of existing committees and feedback mechanisms were also recommended to ensure improved execution and support," an official source said.

One of the most notable acquisitions is the Nagastra 1R loitering munition. The Army has placed an order worth Rs 158 crore with Solar Industries to procure 450 units. These munitions are already deployed in select sectors and have proven effective. Capable of eliminating infiltrators and destroying enemy infrastructure along the Line of Control, the new batch is expected to be delivered within a year. Another key addition is the hybrid mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) – a fixed-wing VTOL system that can take off and land vertically. It has been tested thoroughly by two high-level technical committees to ensure that no components are of Chinese origin. These UAVs have been field-tested during recent military exercises and are now approved for frontline use. Behind these decisions is a larger plan. The Army is drawing up contracts worth tens of thousands of crores. In the coming weeks, purchases totalling Rs 44,000 crore are on the table. These include long-range strike weapons, smart jammers, advanced radars and an arsenal of ammunition built for sustained warfare. The Army's focus remains sharp on 'long-range vectors' – systems capable of hitting deep inside enemy territory without needing boots on the ground. The need for stronger air defences is also high on the list. After 'Operation Sindoor', where Pakistani drones posed a serious threat, the Army wants to deploy low-altitude radars and anti-drone systems in more locations. These tools were critical during that operation and are now seen as a core component of India's future defence architecture. A new security doctrine is quietly taking shape. It favours homegrown innovation, battlefield autonomy and 24x7 readiness. The Army is also ensuring that modernisation does not get entangled in red tape. Instead of waiting years for approvals, it is now signing faster contracts with domestic vendors. This is no ordinary procurement push. It is a recalibration of India's military approach in a world where regional conflicts can spill across borders within hours. Govt board to help traders in city, raise investment
New Delhi: Delhi govt will form the Delhi Traders' Welfare Board, a platform dedicated to making the city more trader-friendly, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Wednesday. The formation of the board was one of the key promises made by BJP in its manifesto before the Assembly polls. "Under this, govt aims to revitalise trade and industry in the city. The board will play a crucial role in promoting the interests of traders and contributing to the city's economic growth," Gupta said. It will focus on policy formation, regulatory challenges, welfare of traders, boosting employment and investment, she added. The board will provide legal aid, organise events and create an IT portal to facilitate communication between the govt and traders, Gupta said. "The board aims to simplify regulatory framework, streamline processes to ease regulatory challenges for traders, provide welfare schemes, and ensure their well-being and support... It will also foster an environment that promotes employment and investment opportunities," the CM said. The board will also act as a bridge between govt and the trading community, conveying their suggestions and concerns directly to policymakers. Gupta added, "Traders and industry stakeholders in Delhi have long faced issues such as lack of an effective grievance platform, exclusion from policy-making, regulatory complexity, and insufficient social security." "The approval of the formation of the board by Delhi govt is a historic and welcome decision for traders. CM urges Centre to roll back fare hike; passengers flag concerns
Chennai: Calling Indian Railways "an integral part" of daily life for the poor and middle class, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday urged the Union govt not to hike passenger fares or reduce general class coaches. "The Indian Railway isn't just a service – it's family," Stalin said in a post on X. "To increase the number of AC coaches, don't cut down general class coaches. Don't raise fares." He added that the hike, set to take effect from July, already dampened public mood and would worsen the burden on households already struggling with rising prices and fuel costs.
