Govt institution to be named after Maharishi Kashyap: Haryana CM
Haryana chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said a government institution in the state will be named in honour of Maharishi Kashyap and also announced ₹21 lakh each for the expansion of Kashyap Rajput Dharamshalas located at the pilgrimage sites of Kurukshetra and Kapal Mochan in Yamunanagar.
Saini was addressing a gathering at the state-level celebration of Maharishi Kashyap Jayanti, organised under the 'Sant-Mahapurush Vichar Samman and Prasar Yojana' in Kurukshetra's Ladwa.
He also declared that a plot will be allotted for the construction of a Kashyap Rajput Dharamshala in Ladwa, Kurukshetra or Indri, subject to a feasibility assessment.
CM Saini said that all other demands of the community would be referred to the relevant departments.
While paying tribute to Maharishi Kashyap, Saini said that the community has a rich and glorious history dating back to ancient times. 'During the Ramayana era, it produced powerful rulers such as King Nishad, who offered shelter to Lord Rama during exile. The community also made significant contributions to India's freedom movement,' he added.
Saini said that his government is fully committed to spread the messages and teachings of great spiritual and historical figures through the Sant-Mahapurusha Samman Vichar Prasar Yojana and in order to realise their vision of equality and social justice, the present government is implementing a range of welfare schemes aimed at uplifting the most underprivileged sections of society.
Highlighting the initiatives being undertaken for the welfare of poor and backward classes, the chief minister said that over the past ten and a half years, the state government has consistently worked to empower the poorest families, guided by the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas.
Indri MLA and programme organiser Ramkumar Kashyap highlighted the history of the Kashyap community.
Haryana social justice and empowerment minister Krishan Kumar Bedi, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, former minister Subhash Sudha and other dignitaries and community representatives were present.

'Chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers earlier this evening,' PM Modi posted on X. Sources said that a presentation on Operation Sindoor was made at the meeting. They said all the ministries presented their key achievements, which are expected to be highlighted during the first anniversary celebrations of the PM Modi government in its third term. The sources said PM Modi is learnt to have talked of the performance of the Indian-made defence systems during Operation Sindoor and the government's thrust on indigenisation. They said PM Modi laid thrust on hard work to realise the targets set by the government. India launched Operation Sindoor as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists. Sisodia slams BJP over demolition of slums
New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi, accusing it of targeting slum dwellers and betraying its pre-election promises. Addressing a press briefing, Sisodia alleged that since coming to power, the BJP-led administration has prioritized the demolition of slum settlements rather than fulfilling its commitment to provide housing. 'The BJP had promised to offer homes where the slums exist, but that promise has turned out to be an empty slogan,' he said. Referring to the recent demolition of the Madrasi Camp in the Jangpura Assembly constituency, Sisodia said hundreds of families, including labourers, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers, and daily wage earners—who contribute to the functioning of the capital—have been rendered homeless. 'The very people who power the city with their hard work are being displaced with bulldozers,' he stated. Sisodia questioned the silence and absence of elected representatives during these demolitions. 'Where are the MLAs now? The people are not getting any answers. Even the basic facilities of water and electricity are being taken away, along with the roofs over their heads,' he said. 'Is this what is meant by 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'?' According to Sisodia, the slum dwellers shared with him their deep anguish. Many of them, he noted, have lived in these settlements for over five decades. 'Even the alternative housing provided is far from their original locations, disrupting lives and livelihoods,' he added. He also highlighted the plight of vulnerable groups. 'There are elderly people, children, and women who are the sole breadwinners in their families. Many earn a living through domestic work like cleaning and mopping. They cannot afford rent, nor do they have anywhere else to go.'
