Delhi Metro dedicates wall to Param Vir Chakra heroes at Moti Bagh station
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has dedicated an entire platform wall at Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh Metro Station on the Pink Line to honour the recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration awarded for exceptional bravery in the presence of the enemy. Of the 21 PVC awardees, 14 were honoured posthumously.
The wall has been transformed into a visual gallery featuring lifelike portraits of these brave soldiers, each accompanied by a brief description of their heroic acts. The artwork was created by a team of skilled artists to capture their courage and sacrifice. In a statement, DMRC said, 'This installation is not just a tribute, but a reminder of the values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism. It invites commuters to pause and reflect on the lives of these national heroes.'
DMRC has also honoured military legends by naming stations such as Major Mohit Sharma Rajendra Nagar and Brigadier Hoshiar Singh. Additionally, a permanent exhibition titled 'Veerta Aur Vikas' at Rajouri Garden Station.

Fire in technical room hits Pink Line services for 5 hrs
New Delhi: Delhi Metro's Pink Line (Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar) service was slowed down for nearly five hours on Monday after smoke was detected in a technical room in the Trilok Puri-Sanjay Lake metro station. A fire that was detected had damaged the signalling and automatic fare collection (AFC) systems. "Train services on line-7 (Pink Line) are being regulated on a small stretch since 11.20am on Monday due to smoke being detected in one of the technical rooms at Trilok Puri-Sanjay Lake metro station. This has caused disturbance to the signalling and AFC system at this station due to which trains are being regulated," Anuj Dayal, principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC, said. He later said that normal service was restored around 4.25pm. Atul Garg, director of Delhi Fire Services, said that a fire broke out in the UPS panel in the UPS S&T Room at Trilokpuri station. Four fire tenders were dispatched to extinguish the fire. The situation was brought under control, and by 1.10pm, the smoke had cleared. No casualties were reported. During this period, the trains approaching Trilokpuri-Sanjay Lake station ran at a slower speed of 25 kmph as signalling was unavailable. "Train services on the rest of the line was normal.... Centralised announcements were made at frequent intervals in stations and inside trains. Fire service personnel cleared the smoke, and efforts were made to restore the signalling and AFC," Dayal said. In May last year, a minor fire broke out in a metro train on the blue line. However, DMRC stated there were no safety concerns, and service was normal. It was a case of pantograph flashing, which was regulated, and the same train safely continued its journey.

Delhi metro pink line delayed due to fire incident

Delhi Metro Achieves Tunnelling Breakthrough On Golden Line Corridor, Check Details
Last Updated: According to a DMRC statement, the tunnel connects Maa Anandmayee Marg to Tughlakabad Railway Colony on the Tughlakabad–Aerocity corridor. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has achieved a major construction milestone with a successful tunnelling breakthrough at Tughlakabad Railway Colony station on the upcoming Golden Line, part of Phase IV of the metro expansion. According to a DMRC statement, the tunnel connects Maa Anandmayee Marg to Tughlakabad Railway Colony on the Tughlakabad–Aerocity corridor. The breakthrough was achieved by a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) after completing a 792-metre stretch in presence of Delhi Health and Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, DMRC Managing Director Dr Vikas Kumar, and other senior officials, it said. The corporation said TBMs are designed to bore through various soil and rock layers while minimizing disruption to the surface. They are especially effective in urban settings and have been extensively used in previous metro phases. DMRC said the tunnel, located at an average depth of 18 metres, is one of two parallel tunnels being built for up and down movement on the corridor. The breakthrough on the second tunnel is expected by July 2025. A total of 566 tunnel rings, each with an inner diameter of 5.8 metres, were installed using the Earth Pressure Balancing Method (EPBM), the statement said. The precast concrete segments used in the tunnel lining were manufactured at a mechanised casting yard in Mundka and steam-cured for early strength. DMRC said ground movement was carefully monitored during the tunnelling to avoid any surface settlement under existing structures. Under Phase IV, 40.1 km of underground metro lines are being constructed, with the Tughlakabad–Aerocity corridor accounting for 19.3 km of that stretch, it added. The latest development marks another step forward in the ongoing expansion of the Delhi Metro network, aiming to enhance connectivity and ease urban transportation challenges in the national capital, it said.
