Pay tribute to fallen soldiers this Memorial Day in the Panhandle
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Memorial Day is a holiday to honor and remember U.S. military personnel who have served and sacrificed for our country.
The Panhandle will host a variety of free events open to the public on Monday, May 26.
In partnership with the Bay County Board of County Commissioners and the Bay County Veterans Council, Bay County Veterans Services will hold its annual ceremony and wreath laying at the Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetery, 2403 Harrison Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
To honor U.S. service members who died while serving in the military, speakers from local military bases and veterans' organizations are scheduled to participate.

The Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce will celebrate at the Veterans Memorial Plaza and Three Soldiers Statue on 230 Market Street from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Former Senior Executive Service Member, Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada) Veteran, and Purple Heart recipient Dr. Gordon Sumner is the guest speaker.

The City of Freeport Hall Front Lawn will honor the men and women who gave their lives in service in a Memorial Day service from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. The program will highlight a presentation of colors, national anthem, and Guest Speaker Mike Storey, and laying of the wreath.
All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets as seating is limited.

Gulf Cemetery will host the annual Memorial Ceremony on Memorial Day at 10 a.m. in Santa Rosa Beach. The 150 veterans in the cemetery will be honored in the service. The speaker for the 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony will be Colonel Ed Hubbard. A limited number of folding chairs will be provided, visitors are encouraged to bring seating.

Come out to honor and celebrate at the HarborWalk Village on Memorial Day. There will be a concert on the main stage from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. featuring Flash Flood Duo. Silent Disco on the Captain's Deck from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., followed by fireworks and a fire spinning finale at 9 p.m.

Bring your friends and family to enjoy a day out in a picturesque beach town full of shopping, entertainment, and dining. Rosemary Beach will kick off the holiday with a Memorial Day Concert with Music by Rubik's Groove. Rubik's Groove is the premier 'Outside of the Box' 80s, 90s, and 00s Tribute Band!
The event is free and open to the public starting at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.

The Veterans Memorial Plaza's annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at 5191 Willing Street in Milton. Veterans Memorial Foundation member Daniel Powers will open the ceremony featuring a wreath presentation by veterans organizations, The National Anthem by the Milton High School Choir and more.

The trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs continued in New York City on Tuesday, May 27, with testimony from his former assistant Capricorn Clark, who worked for him from 2004 to 2012. Diddy, 55, is on trial for sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution and racketeering conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all of the allegations against him. Clark testified on Tuesday that she began her career with Diddy as his personal assistant before coming back to work as his then-girlfriend Cassie's creative director from 2016 to 2018. She claimed that her former boss threatened to kill her while she worked for him — and threatened to kill Kid Cudi, who started dating Cassie, 38, while she was on a break from Diddy. Clark alleged that 'a very upset' Diddy showed up at her door in December 2011 with a gun in his hand, wearing pants that were split open at the crotch. 'Why didn't you tell me?' Clark recalled Diddy asking, referring to the fact that Cudi, 41, had been dating Cassie. Cassie's Ex-Boyfriend Kid Cudi Claims Diddy Broke Into His House in 2011: 'I Wanted to Fight Him' Diddy then allegedly told Clark to get dressed and said, 'We're gonna go kill this n****.' Clark told the jury that she'd 'never seen anything like this before,' adding that Diddy had never come to her house before and she'd never seen him with a weapon. 'The way he was acting, I just felt like anything could happen,' she noted. Clark then rode with Diddy and a security staffer to Cudi's home in the Hollywood Hills. She said she stayed in the car while Diddy and the security guard allegedly broke into the residence, although Cudi was not there at the time. While in the car, she called Cassie (who was with Cudi) to tell her what was happening and said Diddy had brought her to the house 'to kill him.' After getting Clark's call, Cudi went to the house and a brief car chase ensued. Clark testified that Diddy then asked her to call Cassie and to tell her that 'he has me and that he wasn't going to let me go until he comes to get her.' Diddy allegedly then told Clark to convince Cudi and Cassie not to call the police because if they did he would 'kill all y'all motherf***ers.' Cassie Recalls Diddy's Alleged Threat to Blow Up Then-Boyfriend Kid Cudi's Car: 'He Was Going to Hurt' Us Cudi testified last week that Diddy allegedly broke into his home in December 2011 after discovering that Cassie was dating him. The following month, Diddy allegedly blew up Cudi's Porsche with a Molotov cocktail. Over the Memorial Day weekend, Diddy's legal team asked Judge Arun Subramanian to strike a portion of Cudi's testimony, claiming that the 'Day 'n' Nite' rapper's allegations about the 2012 car explosion were 'mere speculation' and posed 'significant dangers of unfair prejudice.' Diddy's team said a 'witness generally cannot testify that in his opinion, a declarant was lying when making a statement,' referring to Cudi's claims on the stand last week that Diddy 'was lying' when he denied involvement in the explosion of his Porsche vehicle during a meeting in Los Angeles. In addition to telling her own side of the Cudi story, Clark testified on Tuesday that Diddy threatened her early in her employment because she hadn't disclosed that she previously worked for his rival Suge Knight. Clark alleged that in 2004 Diddy and a bodyguard known as Uncle Paulie brought her to Central Park, where Diddy told her 'if anything happened [with Suge] he would have to kill me.' She alleged that Uncle Paulie searched her house and claimed she was given a lie detector test by another man who told her if she failed that she would be thrown into the East River. 'I was petrified,' she recalled. Clark claimed that she underwent five days of lie detector tests related to the alleged theft. After those five days, she was told to return to work, where Diddy allegedly never mentioned the incident or the status of the jewelry. When asked why she didn't quit at that point, she said she felt that leaving would make it look like she was guilty of something she didn't do. ‘Ballerina' Box Office Projections Drop Ahead Of ‘Lilo & Stitch' Showdown
Ana de Armas in "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina." Lilo & Stitch is projected to top Ana de Armas' John Wick spinoff movie Ballerina in its opening weekend at the domestic box office after early forecasts suggested a different outcome for the action crime thriller. Rated R, Ballerina — formally titled From the World of John Wick: Ballerina — stars Ana de Armas as a vengeful ballerina and trained assassin in a tale that runs parallel to some of the events in the 2019 blockbuster John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Keanu Reeves and other John Wick franchise stars including Ian McShane, Angelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick appear in Ballerina in supporting roles. Lilo & Stitch, of course, dominated the box office over the recent four-day Memorial Day weekend holiday by earning $182.6 million from 4,410 North American theaters. The live-action remake of the 2002 Disney animated classic has earned $284.2 domestically and $334.4 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $618.6 million to date. In its projections for the June 6-8 box office on Wednesday, Variety is forecasting that Lilo & Stitch will earn somewhere between $30 million to $35 million in North American theaters this weekend, while Ballerina will run a close second with a take of $28 million to $30 million from 3,400 theaters domestically. Distributed by John Wick franchise studio Lionsgate, Ballerina, directed by Len Wiseman, had a production budget of $90 million before prints and advertising costs, Variety reported. Variety's projections are soft in comparison to early forecasts from the likes of Deadline and Box Office Pro. On May 15, Deadline projected that Ballerina would open in the vicinity of $35 million to $40 million in the film's opening frame, while Box Office Pro on May 16 projected a $35 million to $45 million opening for Ballerina in its weekend box office debut. On Wednesday, Box Office Pro's opening weekend projections for Ballerina dropped to a $32 million to $40 million opening frame. Writer-director Wes Anderson's latest offbeat comedy The Phoenician Scheme is expanding to a wider release this weekend following a limited release in theaters on May 30. The Phoenician Scheme, which held its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, opened in six theaters domestically and earned just over $603,000 in its debut. The film is also already playing in international markets, where it has earned $7.3 million to date. Variety projects that The Phoenician Scheme — which will open wide on Friday in 1,500 North American venues — will debut somewhere in the single digits but did not peg a specific number.

NNY Racing Recap: Can-Am returns from Memorial Day break
LAFARGEVILLE, N.Y. (WWTI) – Racing roared back over the weekend after the Memorial Day holiday across the north country. Theresa native Lance Willix picked up the victory over Watertown native Billy Dunn in the 25-lap 358-modified feature. Tyler Meeks, Derek Webb and Remington Hamm rounded out the top five. Mike Fowler collected the win in the 20-lap Sportsman division feature. Frank Sibley, Ryan Shanahan, Tyler Stevenson and Josh Reome finished out the top five. Jon Liberty (602 crate sprints), Michael Greenfield (thundercar) and Eymarah Bowman (limited sportsman) were also winners on Friday, May 31. Can-Am will be back in action on Friday, June 6 with the Pit Crew Showdown. Pits open at 4 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. and racing beginning at 7 p.m. Evans Mills Raceway Park Rain continued to be a problem as Saturday's May 31 program was postponed. The Zeigler 67 race was pushed back until this weekend. June 6: Relay For Life at Evans Mills This weekend's scheduled card will be legends night with the pits opening at 3 p.m. Saturday.
