Sunday and Monday will be NEXT Weather Alert days as strong-to-severe storms are expected to develop each afternoon.
These storms may contain gusty winds and small hail and have the potential to produce brief, minor flooding in and around the heavier downpours.
As temperatures warm up at the surface, storms will develop rapidly over the interior early Sunday and Monday afternoon. They will drift back east across the metro areas, so watch the western sky for any developing storm that may threaten your area.

Stay alert for severe thunderstorm warnings, which mean a storm with strong winds and-or hail is about to impact your area. Prepare to take shelter immediately, should you find yourself in a warned area.
The severe drought and lack of rainfall will allow the ground to handle heavy rain; however, brief heavy downpours may lead to minor street flooding that will not last long.
The potential for tornadoes remains low but not zero. As the sea breeze moves inland and storms interact with each other, a brief tornado is possible. The highest threats with these storms over the next two days will be strong winds and hail.

South Florida in for a warm, hazy weekend
The weekend is shaping up to hazy and warm with a low chance of rain. NEXT Weather meteorologist Shane Hinton said Saharan dust continues to linger in South Florida and will also do so over Saturday and Sunday. This will help to keep storm chances on the low end with a 10% inland storm chance Friday and a 20-30% chance for the weekend. Saharan dust will help keep the chance of rain low. NEXT Weather Afternoon highs will be seasonable, in the upper 80s to lower 90s, but temperatures will feel like the mid to upper 90s due to the humidity. For boaters, there are no alerts for the Atlantic waters and the Florida Keys. However, there is a moderate rip current risk for swimmers. By the beginning of next week, the dust will clear. That will allow for the chance of rain to climb beginning mid-week. While there is still uncertainty around just how high the rain chances go, the current forecast calls for a 40-60% chance from Monday through Thursday. Afternoon highs will still remain in the upper 80s.

South Florida gets break from wet weather, heat and humidity return
After days of downpours, South Florida is finally enjoying a break from the wet weather. Thursday will be mainly dry with only a 10% chance of rain. Saharan dust is bringing drier air and lowering the chance of rain, it's also leading to some hazy conditions. The air quality will be lower due to the dust and anyone with respiratory conditions should try and limit their time outside. "Feels like" temps in the afternoon approach triple digits. NEXT Weather The rain has moved out and now the heat and humidity are back. It was a warm start to Thursday with temperatures in the low to mid 80s. Afternoon highs will rise to the upper 80s with filtered sunshine. It will feel like the upper 90s and the 100s when the humidity is factored in. There is a high risk of rip currents along the Atlantic beaches. Small craft should exercise caution over the Atlantic waters, however, there are no alerts or advisories for boaters in the Florida Keys. Chance of rain slowly increases over weekend and early next week. NEXT Weather On Friday, spotty showers will be possible but the chance of rain remains low. Highs will rise to around 90 degrees and it will feel like the upper 90s and 100s. The weekend will be a scorcher with highs soaring to the low 90s and heat indices in the triple-digits. Spotty afternoon storms will be possible. The chance of rain rises early to middle of next week with more showers and storms expected due to more moisture around.
