Dalton School Hong Kong (DSHK), Little Dalton, and miniDalton proudly presented their most ambitious Little Basel to date – the annual arts festival celebrating creativity across the Dalton community. Launching for the first time on the school's new campus, the 2025 edition featured a groundbreaking installation by world-renowned artist Huang Yulong, who made a special appearance to personally engage students and visitors with his visionary work.
For the first time, his 'UPWARD – Huang Yulong' sculptures — a series of towering, hoodie-clad figures symbolizing inclusivity, optimism, and youth culture — were displayed on school grounds. Curated from his acclaimed solo exhibition at the HK Observation Wheel & AIA Vitality Park during the recent Art Month that drew over 17,000 visitors and were featured on the front page of the South China Morning Post, it continued to captivate Little Basel fair-goers throughout the day of family fun.
A Celebration of Art, Youth, and Innovation
Huang Yulong's work resonates deeply with students, embodying the spirit of hip-hop, street identity, and contemporary youth culture. 'My sculptures are like familiar faces — people you might recognize from your neighborhood,' said Huang. 'UPWARD is about creating a sense of belonging, as much as bringing hope and positivity as one looks upwards to the future, to the unknown.'

"Street art is a celebration of personal expression," Huang observed. "No two paths are alike. Just as every artist develops a distinct creative voice, Dalton cultivates each student's unique potential. Seeing my work resonate in an educational setting is deeply rewarding — it creates a dialogue with young minds in a space that values authentic self-discovery as much as I do."
Peggy Yeoh, DSHK's Founding Director and Co-Chair, affirmed this alignment: "We challenge conventional education models because, like Huang's art, true learning must honor each individual's journey. At Dalton, we don't teach students WHAT to think - we help them learn HOW to think."

Third behind Romantic Warrior in last year's Yasuda Kinen, Soul Rush has posted two wins, two seconds and a third from his past five races and looks like he is improving with age. The seven-year-old son of Rulership will be ridden by Suguru Hamanaka. The 36-year-old jockey breezed the horse over 1,200m on May 29 in a time of 1 minute 21.5 seconds with a final 200m of 10.5 seconds. On June 4, under a trainer's assistant, Soul Rush worked solo up the Ritto hill course over 800m, switching gears to extend powerfully over the final 200m. His overall time over the slightly heavy going was 52.3 seconds with a final 200m of 11.8 seconds. 'He was pretty much ready last week,' trainer Yasutoshi Ikee said. Ex-girlfriend who blackmailed K-pop idol with sex video gets suspended sentence
The former girlfriend of a 26-year-old South Korean pop star has been given a one-year suspended sentence for threatening to release a sex video of them together in a bid to end his career. The Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced the woman to one year in prison, suspended for two years, for her threats to the K-pop singer, who is still active in the scene. She was sentenced under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (coercion using video recordings) and for property damage, according to legal platform LawTalk News on Wednesday. The woman was also ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence counselling and barred from working at institutions involving children, teenagers and people with disabilities for four years. The woman had escalated threats to the singer and also damaged his phone during an argument. As the relationship started deteriorating, the woman began blackmailing her boyfriend with sex videos filmed during their time together. Her first threat was on December 10, 2021, when she created a social media account using the singer's image and texted him the link along with a portion of a sex video involving the two, saying: 'Quit being an idol. The only path left for you is the military.'
