New Delhi: Diu has become the first district in India to meet its entire power demand with solar energy, achieving 11.88 MW capacity, an official statement said on Thursday.

, with its entire daytime electricity demand being met through solar energy.
Joshi visited Diu on Thursday to review its remarkable progress in solar energy adoption and assess the implementation of the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
The minister chaired a high-level meeting at Diu, with senior officials of the UT administration to review the status of solar energy generation, its current supply framework, and future expansion prospects.
The minister remarked that the capital investments made over the past decade in renewable energy infrastructure in Diu have already been recovered through the supply and sale of solar power.
He called for even faster and more effective implementation of the
PM-Surya Ghar Yojana
to maximise its benefits for the residents of the Union Territory and achieve total household saturation.

The theft took place between Koba Circle and Juna Koba stations, which fall on Motera to Gandhinagar route, said the FIR. When a Metro train came to a sudden halt at around 3 am between these two stations, Joshi was called to the spot to look into the issue as the train was not getting electric supply. During inspection, Joshi learnt someone had stolen 700 metres of power cables worth Rs 17.85 lakh after cutting and detaching them from the brackets, it said. This was the second incident wherein power cables of the Metro network were stolen. On May 22, Metro services experienced disruption on a route in Ahmedabad city after unidentified persons stole 500 metres of power cables worth Rs 9 lakh from the tracks near Shahpur station. ‘Substantial evidence': ED opposes bail for ex-min Mahesh Joshi in JJM scam
Jaipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Tuesday opposed the bail plea of former public health engineering department (PHED) minister Mahesh Joshi, who is currently in jail in connection with the multi-crore Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam. At a hearing in a special court for cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the ED submitted that it had substantial evidence against Joshi, alleging that the proceeds of the crime were funnelled into a company owned by his son. The court will hear the matter on Thursday. On May 27, Joshi's counsel senior advocate Vivek Raj Bajwa had contended in the court that the former minister was not named in the initial FIR lodged by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) and argued that the ED failed to trace any proceeds of the crime back to him. Bajwa had argued that Joshi was being falsely implicated due to political rivalry. In response, ED's lawyer Ajatshatru S Mina Tuesday pointed to the four FIRs filed in the case by various govt investigation agencies, including one each by the Jaipur police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and two by the ACB. Mina told court that Joshi was named in one of these FIRs, which formed the basis of ED's enforcement case information report (ECIR).
