Showmax 'Untied': Nonku Williams opens up about divorce

Showmax released the first episode of Untied , a bold new talk show that promises to shake up South African television.
Hosted by award-winning media personality Relebogile Mabotja, Untied dives deep into the complex and emotional world of divorce.
The show tells these stories through the eyes of famous South African women who have lived through heartbreak and healing.
Nonku Williams, a businesswoman, single mother, and reality TV star, takes the spotlight in the debut episode, according to Showmax Stories.
South Africans first met Nonku on The Real Housewives of Durban , Showmax's record-breaking series. Now in its fifth season, it stands as the longest-running Housewives franchise on the continent.
But Untied is different. Here, the glitz and glamour take a back seat, and Nonku sat down with Relebogile to open up like never before.
She shared her pain, her journey to healing, and the lessons she has learnt about love and letting go.
Nonku also explaind why she chose this moment to share her story. 'I believe everything happens for a reason, and every experience we go through has a purpose.
Not just for us, but for others who may find healing and hope in our stories,' she said. 'I trust that God has a plan, and this moment is part of it.
My hope is that my message will resonate with and bring healing to another woman who needs to hear it.'
For years, viewers have seen Nonku on reality TV. Yet, she insists Untied shows a side of her that has never been captured before.
'My purpose is bigger than that. I want to share my truth, authenticity, and experiences to inspire, uplift and give hope to others who've gone through similar struggles,' she says.
'Untied was the perfect platform for me to share my unfiltered story.'
Opening up about her divorce and the abuse she endured was no easy task. 'It comes with maturity and understanding that our experiences are meant to help others,' Nonku shares.
'Surrendering to His will gave me the purpose and fulfilment I needed to share my story, despite the challenges.'
Nonku hopes viewers will find strength in her story. 'No matter what they're facing, it's not the end. It's just a season, and with faith and perseverance, they can overcome it,' she says.
'My ministry is for those in their darkest moments, and I pray that my story will give them hope and reassurance that they can emerge victorious, just like I did.'
She admits that revisiting her past, especially the abuse, was both painful and healing. 'While the memories and triggers will always be there.
I'm grateful that I can now speak about them in a way that brings restoration,' Nonku says.
'For me, talking about my experiences has been a form of healing, and I hope that my story can help others find healing too.'
Her divorce marked a turning point. 'I've come to realise that my value and worth aren't determined by my marital status or external validation.
Instead, I've found my identity in God, and that's given me a sense of purpose and freedom,' she says.
Nonku's spiritual journey has guided her every step. 'Without the help of the Holy Spirit, I wouldn't have been able to be so vulnerable and authentic. SHARING HER STORY
God called me to share my story, and it required me to let go of my own pride and fears,' she explains.
Being this vulnerable on a public platform was daunting. 'It's not simple to expose the most intimate and traumatic parts of my life.
I've reached a point where I'm not concerned about what others think or say. I'm focused on sharing my raw, unfiltered truth, and that's liberating,' Nonku says.
Untied airs new episodes every Tuesday on Showmax.
The show will feature more well-known South African women, including reality star Beverly Steyn, actresses Dawn Thandeka King, Mona Monyane and Palesa Madisakwane, among others.
Untied will become essential viewing for anyone who wants real stories of resilience, hope, and healing.
South Africans can look forward to honest conversations and powerful moments that may inspire many to find their own path to healing.

Malusi Gigaba blocks airing of porn allegations interview

Former government minister Malusi Gigaba has temporarily halted the broadcast of a highly anticipated episode of the Showmax series Untied, which features a tell-all interview with his ex-wife, Noma Mngoma. The court's decision to interdict the airing has caused a stir in both political and entertainment circles, as the episode reportedly reveals damaging allegations against the former minister. Untied, hosted by Relebogile Mabotja, is a new eight-part talk show exploring the realities of divorce through the personal experiences of South African women. The show includes guests such as Sonia Booth, Dawn Thandeka King, and Zandi Nhlapo. Mngoma's episode was expected to delve into intimate and controversial details from her tumultuous marriage to Gigaba. According to court papers, Gigaba approached the High Court after learning about the episode through a WhatsApp message from executive producer Vanessa Tloubatla in May. Tloubatla informed him that Mngoma had spoken about their past, including alleged infidelity, addiction to pornography, the use of state funds for personal gain, and the involvement of law enforcement in her arrest. Gigaba, who served as Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Public Enterprises, and Minister of Finance between 2010 and 2018, claims the episode would severely damage his already fragile public image. In his affidavit, he stated that the show was not only prying into his private life but also making unproven and harmful accusations about his professional conduct during his time in office. The legal action names MultiChoice as the first respondent, Goat Originals as the second, and Mngoma as the third. Gigaba argues that the statements made by Mngoma infringe upon his dignity and violate his right to privacy. He also expressed concern that the content could undermine his efforts to rehabilitate his reputation after stepping away from politics.'Since resigning as a minister, I have tried to lead a private life and rebuild my name,' he said in the documents. 'I have not used public platforms to discuss or diminish the third respondent's character. Yet, she continues to do so with mine.' As part of the show's production process, Gigaba was offered an opportunity to respond to the allegations. He was given summarised content and selected clips from the interview. After viewing them, he instructed his lawyers to seek an urgent interdict. He claimed that Mngoma suggested his behaviour was inherited from his father and that he had never taken responsibility for his alleged actions. A short exchange shared in court between Mngoma and the show's host touched on accusations of extramarital affairs, screenshots of messages sent by other women, and references to Gigaba blaming his father for his behaviour. 'There is no truth to claims that I lived an extravagant lifestyle funded by taxpayers,' Gigaba responded. 'During the Zondo Commission, Mngoma herself stated under oath that I was financially struggling and she was the one purchasing household items.' The judge granted an interim interdict, preventing the release of the episode until the matter returns to court on 7 July for further consideration. Additional submissions from both parties are expected before then. The situation underscores the growing tension between public figures seeking to protect their reputations and content creators aiming to share unfiltered personal narratives. Whether the episode will eventually air remains uncertain, but it has already generated significant public interest. As the court date approaches, South Africans are left wondering whether the truth about one of the country's most controversial political relationships will ever fully come to light.

'There was a time when we were charging R60k. With a live band, we would charge R80k,' he said. Sfiso, the show's presenter — who was also Mlindo's co-road manager at the time — added that Mlindo would make an average of R250 000 per weekend, with Mlindo receiving around R120 000 after expenses. Mlindo also spoke about how the late rapper Riky Rick helped him in the early days of his career. 'Riky once asked me what I was wearing, and it was the only clothes I had. He went to his wardrobe and gave me a Maxhosa tracksuit and sneakers. 'He didn't take me shopping or send me money — he gave me clothes from his own wardrobe when I went into the studio because I was wearing nonsense,' he said. Mlindo was making about R250k per weekend when he was at the top but he'd take home R120k 'after deductions'. 🫢 How? You ask, his co-road-manager S'fiso breaks it down for free.
