Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has launched its next-generation traffic signal control system, UTC-UX Fusion, aiming to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion by up to 20% across major intersections in the city.
Utilising artificial intelligence, predictive analytics and digital twin technology, the system will dynamically optimise signal timings in response to real-time traffic conditions. This will shorten journey times and prioritise emergence vehicles and public transport, making commuting more efficient for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists alike.
The system will enable data-driven traffic management, allowing adjustments to be tested through simulations before being implemented. Additionally, it lays the groundwork for future smart mobility initiatives, such as Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS/V2X), which will facilitate communication between vehicles and traffic signals.
The system is expected to be completed by 2026.

Giza Systems unveils ambitious growth strategy to boost regional, global presence

Giza Systems (GS), a leading digital transformation enabler and systems integrator in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), has announced a bold new strategic direction aimed at cementing its role as a regional and global technology powerhouse. The announcement comes as the company officially introduces its new Group CEO, Ahmad Elharany. During a media roundtable on Thursday, Elharany outlined the company's forward-looking strategy, which includes geographic expansion, investment in high-growth sectors, and enhanced global service capabilities. The plan reflects GS Group's ambition to evolve into a global leader in innovation and digital transformation. A key milestone in this strategy is the launch of the company's new Global Service Delivery Center. Designed to serve clients across industries and regions, the center will enhance Giza Systems' ability to deliver faster, more scalable, and cost-effective solutions. By leveraging global delivery infrastructure and innovation, the center aims to boost operational efficiency, expand capacity, and streamline resource management worldwide. Giza Systems is also sharpening its focus on emerging sectors with significant growth potential, including FinTech, smart cities, smart sports, AI-powered video analytics, cloud services, cybersecurity, and Oracle-based enterprise solutions. The company's integrated approach combines operational and information technology (OT/IT) to offer full-spectrum digital transformation solutions. 'GS Group is aligning its brand with a strategy centered on purpose-built innovation, scalable delivery, and a culture of continuous evolution,' said Elharany. 'We're adapting to meet the rapidly changing needs of global customers by embedding deeper innovation, advanced delivery capabilities, and a future-focused mindset.' Backed by solutions by stc, which holds an 88.19% stake in the company, Giza Systems has achieved major milestones over the past two years. These include the acquisition of LABS, a prominent SAP partner, which marked the group's entry into the ERP space. GS has also established a dedicated Oracle implementation business unit and led several flagship smart city projects such as the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Egypt's New Administrative Capital and the Command and Control Center in Alamein. Looking ahead, GS plans to deepen its presence across the GCC—particularly in Oman, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi—through strategic partnerships, direct sales initiatives, and enhanced collaboration with global technology providers to enrich service offerings and customer experiences. Sustainability and social impact remain core pillars of GS Group's vision. The company received a -AA- rating for its first ESG/GRI report in 2023, reflecting its commitment to responsible business practices. Through its CSR arm, the Giza Systems Foundation (GSF), the group empowers underserved communities via tech-driven initiatives. In 2024, GSF supported 15 startups across eight Egyptian governorates through its BridgeZ accelerator, advancing nine of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. GSF aims to position itself as Egypt's hub for impact investment, connecting startups with investors, donors, and strategic partners. With strongholds in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the wider GCC, and East Africa, GS Group now sets its sights on a global expansion trajectory, with plans to solidify its footprint worldwide by 2027.

Saudi Arabia Commits USD 600 Billion to US During Trump's MENA Tour

The deal includes a historic USD 142 billion arms agreement, the largest in US history, covering advanced military support. During President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom signed a strategic economic agreement committing USD 600 billion in investments across key US sectors, including defense, technology, energy, and healthcare. A central component of the deal is a USD 142 billion arms agreement—the largest of its kind in US history—which encompasses state-of-the-art military equipment, services, and extensive training programs for Saudi armed forces. The package includes advanced systems such as C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft, THAAD anti-ballistic missile systems, Patriot PAC-3 missile defenses, and MQ-9B SeaGuardian drones. While discussions about the potential sale of F-35 fighter jets have occurred, no confirmation has been made regarding their inclusion in the deal. Beyond defense, the agreement includes significant investments in technology and infrastructure. Saudi data centre operator DataVolt plans to invest USD 20 billion in US AI and energy projects. Additionally, a consortium including Google, Oracle, and DataVolt has pledged USD 80 billion toward joint technology initiatives. In the healthcare sector, Shamekh IV Solution is committing USD 5.8 billion, which includes the establishment of a high-capacity IV fluid plant in Michigan. The agreements also cover cooperation in customs, judicial coordination, infectious disease research, and a new partnership between Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. President Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia is the first stop on his Gulf tour, with subsequent visits to the UAE and Qatar planned.

Sennheiser introduces Profile Wireless 1-channel mic and releases 32-bit float firmware update - Middle East Business News and Information

New system caters to solo creators, while keeping users' options for upgrading open Dubai, 16 May 2025 – Sennheiser today announced a one-channel version of its Profile Wireless 2.4 GHz all-in-one microphone solution. The streamlined single-mic system comes in a compact bag and includes a second USB charging cable instead of the charging bar of the two-channel version launched in late 2024. Designed to be lightweight and ultra-portable, the one-channel version covers typical usage scenarios of solo creators, while allowing for later expansion of the system by including the same two-channel receiver as the Profile Wireless 2-channel system. Also, a 32-bit float firmware update for all Profile Wireless systems is available for download on the Sennheiser website from today. The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic system includes a clip-on mic with mini windshield and magnetic mount, a two-channel receiver, two USB cables, USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable and a shoe mount adapter Streamlined one-channel version 'Following the huge success of the Profile Wireless 2-channel system, we're now catering to the solo creator, who does not require the full two-channel package but would rather like to save on weight and cost and still have Sennheiser audio quality,' says Hendrik Millauer, Product Manager Broadcast & Film at Sennheiser. 'Profile Wireless 1-channel is also ideal for the casual user looking for a wireless mic to hook up to their laptop, for example.' Profile Wireless 1-channel is also an ideal solution for users looking for a wireless mic for their laptop Just like the two-channel version, the solo system is quick and easy to set up – no app required. It can be used on cameras, with smartphones and computers, and can be combined with an external lavalier microphone or even used to create a wireless boom. The mic has an operating time of up to seven hours, and 16 GB of memory for up to 30 hours of internal recording. Profile Wireless can also be used to create a wireless boom, here in combination with an MKE 400 mini-shotgun mic The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic system comes in a rugged pouch that includes the clip-on microphone with mini windshield and magnetic mount, a two-channel receiver, two USB cables, USB-C and Lightning adapters, a camera cable and a shoe mount adapter. As all Profile Wirelesss components can also be bought separately, nothing stands in the way of expanding the system to two channels at a later point in time. 32-bit float update for Profile Wireless 'With the latest Profile Wireless firmware update, we're addressing user requests for a 32-bit float functionality,' says Millauer. 'This will allow creators to record with extremely high dynamic range, and help them to recover clipped audio.' For 32-bit float recording, Profile Wireless combines the audio signals of the two A/D converters inside the Profile Wireless mics to create a single 32-bit float audio stream. Creators who prefer 24-bit recording due to its lower memory requirement still have the option to deactivate 32-bit float recording and turn on the Safety Channel Mode. This will output a -6dB version of the audio in addition to the original sound level and thus help protect against clipping. To update their Profile Wireless system to firmware version V4.1.0, creators are asked to visit . Under Downloads, they will find various firmware updates for Mac and PC, with a smart tool guiding them through the update process for the receiver and transmitter(s). Please note that the first batches of the Profile Wireless 1-channel mic also need to be updated to firmware version V4.1.0. Millauer concludes, 'With the addition of the one-channel system and 32-bit float recording, Profile Wireless becomes the most versatile tool for creators who value excellent sound and see it as a key differentiator for quality content.' The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic is available from today and retails at EUR 199 (MSRP), USD 199 (MAP), or GBP 169 (MSRP).
