Interior Ministry: Over 1 million pilgrims benefit from Makkah Route Initiative

RIYADH — The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that more than one million pilgrims have benefited from the Makkah Route Initiative since its launch, reaffirming the Kingdom's commitment to serving pilgrims.
Now in its seventh year, the initiative is carried out in coordination with several government entities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and Ministry of Media; the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA); the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority; the General Authority for Awqaf; the Pilgrim Experience Program; and the General Directorate of Passports.
As part of the Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030, the initiative streamlines pre-travel procedures for pilgrims at 11 airports across seven countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Türkiye, and Côte d'Ivoire.
Services begin in the pilgrims' home countries with biometric data collection, electronic Hajj visa issuance, and passport processing, ensuring compliance with health protocols. Luggage is tagged and sorted according to transportation and accommodation details, and pilgrims are transported directly upon arrival to their residences in Makkah and Madinah.
The program, led by multilingual national teams and supported by advanced technology, ensures a smooth and spiritual experience for all participants.

Hospitals and health teams gear up to tackle heat stress cases at holy sites
Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — The Health Affairs Department at the Ministry of National Guard has allocated an integrated center to address heat stress cases in Arafat as part of its health plan for this year's Hajj season. The center, with a capacity of 20 beds, is fully equipped to quickly respond to cases of heat strokes and heat-related stress. The ministry also equipped its Mina hospital with a capacity of 26 beds, including emergency units, inpatient beds, cardiopulmonary resuscitation rooms, isolation rooms for infectious diseases, and specialized units for the immediate treatment of heat stress cases. The department has made available 10 state-of-the-art ambulances to handle emergency cases and transport them when needed. These ambulances are staffed around the clock by medical and nursing teams specialized in critical specialties, including emergency, critical care, internal medicine, preventive medicine, and epidemiology. Through this plan, the Health Affairs Department at the Ministry of National Guard seeks to ensure comprehensive and effective medical care for pilgrims. These services include preventive and curative care, infection control, water and food safety monitoring, and awareness and vaccination campaigns, which started before the start of the Hajj pilgrimage. The Ministry of Health has given top priority for the prevention of heat-related illnesses. It urged pilgrims to use umbrellas, drink water regularly, even if they are not thirsty, and wear light-colored, lightweight clothing. Symptoms of heat stress include headache, dizziness, excessive sweating, thirst, and nausea. Upon noticing these, pilgrims should immediately move to a shaded area, cool down with water, and drink plenty of fluids. Pilgrims are advised to avoid direct sun exposure between 10 am and 4 pm, refrain from walking on hot surfaces, and exercise caution when engaging in strenuous activities, such as climbing mountains, on the Day of Arafat, which can increase the risk of heat stress. The ministry affirmed that the health sector is highly prepared, with over 34 equipped field health units strategically distributed across the holy sites. These units provide urgent medical care and rapid response for heat stress cases, enhancing pilgrim safety. The ministry has also launched a health awareness kit, available in eight languages, offering comprehensive healt h guidelines.

Saudi Red Crescent conducts air evacuation in Arafat as part of Hajj preparedness efforts
ARAFAT: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority carried out an emergency air medical evacuation in Arafat on Wednesday, as part of its broader efforts to enhance readiness during the Hajj season, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The operation was launched after an emergency call was received by the SRCA's central operations room. Ground and air ambulance teams were immediately dispatched to the scene in coordination with relevant health authorities, SPA added. The patient was stabilized on-site and transported by medical evacuation aircraft to a designated hospital, following direct coordination with the hospital's medical team and the provision of all necessary medical details. SRCA spokesman Dr. Taimur Shukrullah Jan said the mission was part of a broader integrated system designed to improve emergency response across the holy sites. He noted that medical evacuation aircraft are crucial in reducing response times, particularly in areas of high population density or restricted mobility. 'The authority is harnessing all its human and technical resources to serve pilgrims, in line with its humanitarian and national mission,' Jan said. 'Our ground and air ambulance teams are operating around the clock to deliver urgent care where and when it's needed.' The SRCA's air ambulance service for the Hajj season comprises 11 aircraft deployed across 13 strategic landing sites in Makkah and the holy sites. More than 120 trained personnel are working to ensure rapid intervention and high-quality emergency services for pilgrims, SPA reported.

Pilgrims receive gifts reflecting Saudi culture
MAKKAH: The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, known as Wrth, has welcomed pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia via land, sea, and air with gifts inspired by traditional Saudi arts. This initiative, in collaboration with the Pilgrim Awareness Center and Saudia airline, aims to enrich pilgrims' experience culturally and intellectually, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Pilgrims received prayer rugs adorned by Arabic calligraphy and medallions featuring traditional inscriptions reflecting Saudi cultural values. Accompanying the gifts were informational cards about Hajj rituals, provided by the Pilgrim Awareness Center. Gifts were distributed at key entry points, including King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah Islamic Port, and the Hajj dispatching control center on Hijrah Road. Wrth's participation aligns with its mission to raise awareness of traditional arts and offer a unique pilgrim experience during the Kingdom's Year of Handicrafts. The initiative highlights national identity and strengthens the global presence of traditional Saudi arts, the SPA reported. The royal institute recently completed a billboard project along Hijrah Road between Makkah and Madinah, in collaboration with the Roads General Authority. The billboards feature designs inspired by traditional motifs and crafts such as weaving, reflecting the national identity. These showcase the beauty of local arts and regional patterns and aim to enrich pilgrims' cultural experience and promote heritage tourism.
