Dallas Wings Have Bad News for Paige Bueckers' Rookie Season
The Dallas Wings selected former UConn star Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in Monday night's WNBA draft. The Wings are coming off a season in which they went 9-31 and finished with the second-worst record in the league.
New general manager Curt Miller wasted no time reshaping the roster. He pulled off a major four-team trade to bring in DiJonai Carrington, Tyasha Harris and NaLyssa Smith, then added Myisha Hines-Allen in free agency.

Along with a revamped roster, the Wings are also set to debut a brand-new arena and practice facility. However, the bad news is that neither will be ready in time for Bueckers' rookie season.
"They don't have these things in place this year," Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports said on "The Ringer WNBA Show." "The facility, the practice facility, the new arena, those are going to be here next year. And so I think, you know, having one season with Paige in Arlington is going to be interesting."

For the upcoming season, the Wings will continue to play their home games and hold practices at College Park Center on the University of Texas at Arlington campus—their home since relocating from Tulsa in 2016.

But starting in 2026, the team is set to move to downtown Dallas. As part of a 15-year, $19 million agreement approved by the Dallas City Council, they'll play at the newly renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium inside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. A brand-new practice facility will also be ready that same year.
