Arya Borse and Arjun Babuta won gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup.
India's Arya Borse and Arjun Babuta delivered an exceptional performance, defeating China's Zifei Wang and Lihao Sheng 17-7 to secure the gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup on Saturday.
Borse and Babuta excelled under pressure, decisively overcoming the Chinese team in the prestigious competition.
The Indian duo progressed to the gold medal match with a combined qualification score of 635.2, just 0.7 points behind Wang and Sheng's world record-equalling 635.9.
Individually, Borse scored 317.5, while Babuta shot 317.7 in the qualification round.
Earlier this year, Borse partnered with Rudrankksh Patil to win silver in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the World Cup in Lima, Peru.
The other Indian pair in the event, Elavenil Valarivan and Ankush Jadhav, finished sixth in the qualifications with a score of 631.8.
Norway's Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Jon-Hermann Hegg claimed the bronze medal, defeating the USA's Sagen Maddalena and Peter Matthew Fiori 16-14.
This is India's fourth medal and second gold at the ongoing World Cup, adding to Suruchi Singh's gold and the two bronze medals won by Sift Kaur Samra and Elavenil in their respective individual events earlier this week.

'And I don't know where you'd play him in the other three Test matches, but you want to make sure you play him in those crucial games. I probably wouldn't even play him in the first Test match, actually,' added the chinaman who played seven Tests, 123 ODIs and 15 T20Is for Australia, before urging India to play some mind games with England. "I'd just go, 'Right, England, we don't have Bumrah.' And you could just see England thinking, 'Oh, they don't have Bumrah – that's good, we don't have to face him.' But then they're going to start worrying about him in the second Test match. And if he turns the tide in the second match, then all of a sudden England are playing catch-up. So I'd add a bit of by-play there," stated Hogg. With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin retiring from the longest format of the game recently, Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are two of the most senior players in the side. The England Test series also starts a new era under new captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Although Gambhir and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar have made it clear that there is no expectations from Gill, the 25-year-old will certainly be under some kind of pressure, leading his country at the top level for the first time in his career. Previously, Gill had captained India against Zimbabwe in a T20I series back in 2024.

U Mumba TT etched their name into the history books, clinching their maiden Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) title with a dominant 8-4 win over Jaipur Patriots in the Season 6 grand finale on Sunday, thanks to a stellar team performance. Wins for Lilian Bardet and Bernadette Szocs gave U Mumba an early lead, before Szocs and Akash Pal swept the mixed doubles 3-0 to take them to the brink. Teenager Abhinandh PB sealed the title with a clutch game win in the fourth match. Although Yashaswini Ghorpade didn't feature in the final, her standout semi-final display epitomised U Mumba's collective strength this season - hallmarks of a campaign expertly managed from the dugout by coaches John Murphy and Jay Modak. For their performances in the final, Akash and Szocs were named the Indian and Foreign Player of the Final, respectively, while Jeet Chandra claimed the Shot of the Final. VVS Laxman's role in intra-squad game clarified as Gambhir's absence sparks coaching rumours: 'Target is to win in ENG'
The presence of former India cricketer VVS Laxman, who is officially associated with the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, in the intra-squad game in Kent on Saturday amid the absence of head coach Gautam Gambhir, who returned to India the same day owing to personal reasons, sparked various speculations. One of them pertained to whether he was filling the role of Gambhir until his return. Not to forget, Laxman was reportedly the first choice for the BCCI officials as Rahul Dravid's successor for the head coach role. Laxman has extensive experience playing in England. Donning the Indian white, he has been on three tours of the country—2002, 2007, and 2011—scoring 586 runs in 19 innings, including five fifties. He has also played 23 other first-class matches in England—16 for Lancashire across the 2007 and 2009 County editions and seven others were tour games for India. Hence, Laxman, who has been filled in as a temporary replacement for the coaching role over the last two years, would be an excellent choice as Gambhir's replacement. But a Cricbuzz report said he is not in England for that role. While he may be spotted at the intra-squad game and could even have a word with the support staff members, his role was "nothing more." It added that he is likely to leave England soon. "He has gone there for some other purpose, not on any assignment with the Indian team. He travelled to London from Lausanne," a BCCI source told Cricbuzz. Another source added, "The target is to win in England, and he may have spoken to the coaches and selectors present here, and perhaps even attended the intra-squad game. But he holds no official role with this team." Yet another source said, "He went to Switzerland and simply stopped by in London to spend time with the boys. It was always part of his plan." It has been learnt that Laxman went to Switzerland for a conference. The intra-squad game ended on Monday, implying it was merely of three days of action in Kent, where Shardul Thakur and Sarfaraz Khan scored their respective centuries. The five-match contest will begin on June 20 in Leeds. The Indian players will have a day off on June 16, before they leave for Headingley on Tuesday.
