Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is always known for being vocal about court issues. While playing against the Los Angeles Lakers, the young Timberwolves guard got into trouble again when LeBron James approached the referee and complained. However, he found fans' support this time, who thought Edwards was right in calling out the referees' biased approach.
Minnesota Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards called out referee's bias with a candid comment
While playing Game 2 of the playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers, Timberwolves' Edwards was charged with a technical foul. It led to Edwards losing his cool, and he didn't hold back calling out the referee's biased decision. Apparently, he saw the referee taking the call on the Lakers' LeBron James' complaint. An NBA insider took to X to revisit the moment, tweeting:
''that's a tech when i say that s**t!' - ant re: lebron'
It is not the first time Anthony Edwards has gotten into trouble because of being foul-mouthed. The Internet is full of instances where Edwards made uncalled-for comments. Also, he is not new to tech fouls. The Timberwolves guard gave a very safe reaction when asked about his tech foul rate. He said:
'Yeah I won't get no techs. I won't say anything, I'm going to stay super quiet. One hundred percent.'
Edwards' rant has highlighted the referees' tendency to take sides and give tech fouls often, as per the player's team and status.
Fans support Anthony Edwards reacting to referee's decision
Anthony Edwards got the fans on his side this time as they also feel that the referees' decisions sometimes become questionable. They supported Edwards and shared reactions extending their nod to Edwards' observation.
One fan commented, 'ant doesn't have the entire league in his back pocket like some.'
Another fan wrote, 'NBA techs really hit different depending on the jersey—some players get the whistle, others get the warning! The refs' consistency is as unpredictable as Ant's next highlight.'
'And he's right,' said another player supporting Edwards.
'He's not lying tho,' was another response to NBA Insider's tweet.
'He's got a point. Lol,' wrote an amused fan.
Edwards has a high tech foul rate, which sometimes bothers his teammates too. In February 2025, he got the 16th technical foul, which led to his ejection from the game and suspension from the next game.

Jasprit Bumrah Troubles India Batters During Training Session Ahead Of England Tests
India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is up and running in Beckenham, putting in the hard yards before the upcoming five high-stakes Tests against England, slated to kick off on June 20 at Headingley. A new era beckons for India in the Test format as the modern-day giants gear up for their first assignment without the prized batting bigwigs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Shubman Gill, India's youngest Test captain, has taken the baton from Rohit to guide the nation to success and challenge for the World Test Championship mace. During India's training session in Beckenham, Kent's second home venue, Bumrah displayed his unparalleled mastery in the art of pace bowling. With the ball in his hand, Bumrah showed signs of breaking the notion of requiring assistance from the surface to wreak havoc. Deemed to be the world's current best, Bumrah extracted significant seam movement and constantly tested the outside edge of batters. He constrained the batters inside the crease with his searing yorker-length deliveries, according to ESPNcricinfo. The 31-year-old could be heard chatting with India bowling coach Morne Morkel about his two five-fors at Trent Bridge, according to ESPNcricinfo. He talked about how, on his first trip in 2018, the Duke's ball was doing things in swing and seam-friendly conditions. But on his later tours, it became less responsive. Bumrah's utilisation will remain limited throughout the five Tests in England. During the announcement of India's squad for the upcoming Test tour of England, chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed Bumrah was advised not to contest in consecutive Tests as part of his workload management. The precaution around Bumrah's usage stems from a stress reaction in the back during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January. He missed India's victory campaign in the Champions Trophy and returned to action for the Mumbai Indians in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). Last week, head coach Gautam Gambhir revealed that they have yet to take a call on which Tests India will field Bumrah in the playing XI. India's Test squad for England series: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav. Fans Can't Stop Laughing At Wasim Akram's New Statue In Hyderabad: 'I Fainted'
Last Updated: Wasim Akram's life-sized statue in Hyderabad left fans laughing and sparked some hilarious memes due to its inaccurate facial depiction. Fast-bowling great Wasim Akram was honored by a life-sized statue in Hyderabad, Pakistan, but it had the opposite effect to what was intended — leaving fans laughing and feeling sorry for the cricketer on social media. The statute, reportedly unveiled in April, got popular overnight after a meme page on X (formerly Twitter) shared a photo of it, inviting thousands of impressions and hilarious one-liners. The life-size statue outside the Niaz Stadium had Akram in Pakistan's jersey from the 1999 World Cup. It showed him in his bowling stride, loading the famous slingy action. Although the maker did a good job in getting the dimensions and his body structure right, his face looked quite different, with his frown of effort seeming like one of sadness. His hair also made the former captain look quite old. Check more reactions here: — Sidra (@sidzu04) June 6, 2025 sorry @wasimakramlive 😂 — Xulaman (@SulamanShabir) June 5, 2025 Wasim Akram's statue at Hyderabad stadium @wasimakramlive fainted after watching this 🥹 — Raza Hashmey (@papabureau87) June 5, 2025 The reaction is not too different from the time when the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai unveiled the statue of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who fans felt resembled Australia's Steve Smith more. Akram represented Pakistan in international cricket from 1984 to 2003, participating in 104 Test matches and 356 One Day Internationals (ODIs). In Tests, he took 414 wickets at an average of 23.62, and in ODIs, he claimed 502 wickets at an average of 23.52, becoming the first bowler to achieve 500 ODI wickets. Skilled with the bat as well, he scored over 6,000 runs across formats, with his highest Test score being 257 not out. Akram was a member of Pakistan's 1992 World Cup-winning team and competed in four World Cups overall. Additionally, he captained Pakistan in 25 Tests and 109 ODIs. Having worked as a coach in the IPL, for domestic sides, and briefly for the men's national Pakistani team, too, he currently does commentary and broadcast stints around the world. 'What a tragedy? ': Sunil Gavaskar finally opens up on stampede during RCB's IPL 2025 victory celebration
Sunil Gavaskar has reacted to the tragic stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB's IPL 2025 title celebration, calling it heartbreaking. The incident claimed 11 lives as thousands of fans gathered to see their team celebrate its maiden IPL title after 18 years. read more Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his grief over the tragic stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where several people lost their lives. The heartbreaking incident happened as fans gathered to see their beloved Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team celebrate their first-ever IPL title win. RCB defeated Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final by 6 runs last week to win their maiden trophy after 18 long years. The team flew from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru via a chartered flight the next afternoon to celebrate the victory with their fans. Upon arrival, the RCB team was taken to the hotel, and from there, they went straight to the Vidhana Soudha for a felicitation ceremony by the Karnataka state government. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD They were greeted by tens of thousands of fans throughout their route from the airport to the hotel and then to Vidhana Soudha. RCB team was scheduled to visit the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as their last stop for fans to see the trophy and their heroes. Many people were gathered outside the stadium in the hope of getting a seat inside to see their heroes. RCB had announced after winning the final that they would celebrate the title with fans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on 4 June, and that there would be limited free tickets available. The post was deleted after the stampede incident, which killed 11 people and injured several others. Earlier, the Bengaluru traffic police had cancelled the open-bus tour due to safety concerns. Sunil Gavaskar reacts to Bengaluru stampede Writing in his column for Mid-Day, Gavaskar said 'What a tragedy? The loss of lives due to a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium is heartbreaking indeed. All that those people wanted was a glimpse of the players who had given them so much joy and happiness over the years, especially in the last two months. The IPL Trophy, which they kept hoping would be theirs every year but never did, was finally coming to them after a wait of 18 years." 'If RCB had won the Trophy in the first few years, there would not have been this outpouring of emotion as happened after the long wait of 18 years. Other teams have won but their celebrations have been a lot less frenetic maybe because their fans didn't have to wait this long. The slogan 'Ee saala cup naamde' seemed to be like a millstone around the necks of the team. This year, when that slogan was barely heard, the team played some superb cricket, most of it away from their fans,' he added. 'They won every single game they played away, which is a new record in the IPL. No wonder the home fans wanted to give them a special ovation. Heartfelt condolences to those who lost their loved ones. Prayers of the fans can change fortunes, and there's no doubt that the prayers of their loved ones made a contribution to bringing that elusive Cup to Bengaluru,' Gavaskar concluded.
