The Denver Nuggets have made a big decision ahead of a very important offseason. After being knocked out by the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7, the team has chosen David Adelman as their full-time head coach.
Adelman had taken over temporarily after head coach Michael Malone and General Manager Calvin Booth were both fired just before the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Even though some people were surprised by the sudden firing, David Adelman has done a pretty decent job. Adelman worked closely with star player Nikola Jokic and let him help lead the team. Under Adelman, the Denver Nuggets managed to secure their last three regular-season games, and beat the LA Clippers in the first playoff round, and almost made it to the Western Conference Finals.
Team president Josh Kroenke said he chose to keep David Adelman as head coach to help the Denver Nuggets remain strong. The team still doesn't have a permanent general manager, but Kroenke believes Adelman can guide them back to the top. Adelman has now officially taken over as the Nuggets' new head coach.
Kroenke said, '
We are going to be moving forward with David Adelman as our head coach for next season and beyond. I think the way that the group really rallied around him, and not only a different voice, but a different style of communication, was fantastic to see.
'
He added, '
We are really excited about him, both what he's shown over the last six weeks and then having a full summer, a full training camp and a full year to get things under his belt before we go back at it again this time next year
.'
'I think a lot of our answers are internal right now,
" said Kroenke.
"With where we are from a roster standpoint, we have guys locked into contracts. We're going into a coaching transition. And to be frank, that's a huge change. Huge change. … DA's philosophy, how he might use these guys slightly differently, there's gonna be a lot of big changes throughout our organization already," he said.
