Scottish Sun22-05-2025

Her skydiving club, Sky-High Skydiving, later said the horror appeared to be 'a deliberate act'.
An inquest heard today how there was 'no reason to suspect equipment failure'.
Coroner's officer Alexis Blighe said Jade's provisional cause of Jade's death was listed as "blunt trauma".
Crook Coroners's Court heard Jade's body was identified by Bryn Chaffe, the chief instructor at Ms Damarell's skydiving club.
Area coroner Jeremy Chipperfield adjourned the full inquest until August 21.
The tragedy unfolded on April 27 as Jade, who had completed more than 400 jumps, hit the ground at Wrefords' Farm.
Nigel Wreford, 56, who works on farm nearby, previously said: 'I've been told by quite a few people that she knew what she was doing — she had apparently left a suicide note.'
While a friend said at the time: 'This wasn't an accident. We believe she intended to take her life, sadly."
Durham Constabulary confirmed the Jade's death was not being treated as suspicious.
Jade studied marketing at university in Leeds before marrying solicitor James Damarell in 2019.
It was previously reported they lived in Yorkshire but are believed to have separated, with Jade later moving into rented accommodation used skydivers in Peterlee.
Jade's family paid tribute following her death and called her a "brilliant, beautiful, brave and truly extraordinary person".
They said professionally, she was "exceptionally talented" and had found "freedom and purpose" with her skydiving.
You're Not Alone
EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide
It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.
It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.
And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.
Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.
That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

The family added: "A bright, adventurous, free spirit, she lived with immense energy, passion, and love, and touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness.
"We miss her beyond words but Jade's love, brilliance, courage, and light will live on in our family and among all those who knew and loved her.
'Some stars are so bright they burn through their time too quickly – but their light never truly fades.
'We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in the emergency services and the local first responders as well as the skydiving community. Your care and compassion mean more to us than we can express.

Amazon warns illegal streamers of hidden danger on ‘dodgy' Fire Sticks used to watch Premier League games on the cheap

Sky calls for tougher action to address the problem STREAM OFF Amazon warns illegal streamers of hidden danger on 'dodgy' Fire Sticks used to watch Premier League games on the cheap AMAZON has warned Fire Stick users of the hidden dangers when using dodgy apps to illegally stream Premier League games and more on the cheap. A new report has pointed the finger at tech giants like Amazon for being "both friend and foe" in solving rampant piracy that's costing TV firms billions. Big broadcasters like Sky say Amazon isn't doing enough to address the issue. Nick Herm, Sky Group's chief operating officer said the report "highlights the significant scale and impact of piracy, particularly on premium live sport". "It's a serious issue for anyone who invests in creating and delivering world-class content," he explained to the BBC. Advertisement "We'd like to see faster, more joined-up action from major tech platforms and government to address the problem and help protect the UK creative industries." Amazon told The Sun it has made changes to its Fire TV devices to make it more difficult to stream pirated content. And it has on-device warnings to alert customers of the risks associated with sideloaded apps which are downloaded from outside the approved Amazon Appstore. Those risks are largely concerned with fraud. Advertisement There have been numerous cases of people looking to illegal streaming as a way to slash their TV bills, only to be left severely out of pocket. One victim recently revealed to The Sun how thousands was accessed from his bank account after signing up to one. Major Illegal Streaming Network Shut Down Across Europe Fortunately, his bank flagged it as fraud and stopped the payment, but not everyone has been so lucky. 'Pirated content violates our policies regarding intellectual property rights, and compromises the security and privacy of our customers," a spokesperson said. Advertisement "We work with industry partners and relevant authorities to combat piracy and protect customers from the risks associated with pirated content. "Our Appstore prohibits apps that infringe upon the rights of third parties and we warn customers of the risks associated with installing or using apps from unknown sources.' Elsewhere in the report, Facebook-owner Meta was accused of being a source of adverts for illegal streaming devices.

Shocking moment biker yob drags hero cop down road after fleeing during arrest for doing wheelies in town-centre

Watch the footage in our video player BIKE HORROR Shocking moment biker yob drags hero cop down road after fleeing during arrest for doing wheelies in town-centre SHOCKING footage shows the moment a biker yob dragged a hero cop down the road as he tried to arrest him for anti-social riding. Sergeant Tom Brookes asked Scott Ryall, 21, to pull over after he spotted him doing dangerous wheelies in Bargoed, Wales, on April 8. The bike could be seen zooming from a side street, across an island of traffic lights and onto a main road as shocked onlookers watched on. Dramatic video shows the officer clinging on for dear life as he was dragged across a main road. Ryall then lost control of the motorcycle as he enters a slip road, with a Gwent Police car in hot pursuit. Advertisement The speeding biker then weaves between a road sign and a traffic light before clipping a bin. Footage then shows the two men and the bike crashing to the ground on a grass verge in chaotic scenes. At this point, the police vehicle crosses the main road to catch up with him and assist in the arrest. Gwent Police said Ryall had been spotted riding dangerously and pulling wheelies when Sgt Brookes got out of a marked police car and asked the biker to pull over. Advertisement The force said: "When he tried to detain the rider, however, the rider accelerated, pulling the officer across the road in front of an onlooking bus driver. Shocking moment car flies through air and smashes into newly repaired roof of veteran's hall "The bike ended up on a grass verge opposite the junction before Sgt Brookes arrested the rider." Ryall, of Blackwood, Caerphilly, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance at Newport Magistrates Court. He was handed a suspended sentence but banned from driving for 15 months. Advertisement His green Kawasaki was seized and crushed. Speaking after the sentence, Sgt Brookes said: "Both the rider and I were extremely fortunate that the road wasn't busier at the time. 'The defendant shouldn't have been on the road in the first place, but his reckless and thoughtless riding by pulling wheelies on a main road in a town centre put himself, officers, motorists and pedestrians at risk. 'Our neighbourhood team across Caerphilly north will not tolerate the illegal and dangerous use of off-road vehicles and continue to plan proactive operations to keep roads and rural areas safe and remove these vehicles from our streets." Boxer turned Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko lands major blow as he blasts ‘authoritarian' Zelensky

The wartime leader faces a gloves off confrontation with his own capital's mayor amid similar accusations from Trump GLOVES OFF Boxer turned Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko lands major blow as he blasts 'authoritarian' Zelensky KYIV's mayor and former world champion boxer Vitali Klitschko stepped into the ring with Volodymyr Zelensky - accusing him of "authoritarianism". The former heavyweight blasted the Ukrainian wartime leader for paralysing his city with "raids, interrogations and threats of fabricated criminal cases". The 53-year-old mayor's claims come after ex-comedian Zelensky was taunted earlier this year by Donald Trump and his right-hand-man JD Vance. The Don tripled down on his criticism of Zelensky in a blistering Truth Social rampage in February, branding the Ukrainian President a "dictator" and a "moderately successful" comedian. And just days after that, a furious Trump dramatically booted Zelensky out of the White House amid a seething row over US backing of the Ukraine war, sparking global chaos. Advertisement READ MORE WORLD NEWS WORDS OF WIS-DON Trump reveals marriage advice he offered Macron after Brigitte slap Trump has also accused wartime hero Zelensky of "refusing to have elections" - despite this being normal protocol under martial law. Klitschko's allegations towards Zelensky of authoritarianism come as his Kyiv administration faces a string of arrests. Some of Klitschko's deputies have been purged by the national anti-corruption bureau under an operation called Clean City. The probe has exposed widespread corruption under the mayor's watch - and seven of his subordinates have so far been arrested, with another three under investigation. Advertisement The former athlete has now lashed out at Zelensky, saying that the work of his city council has been plagued by fake criminal cases and threats. He says that these hampered the ability of Kyiv authorities to make key decisions. Kyiv's mayor told The Times: 'This is a purge of democratic principles and institutions under the guise of war. Sky documentary reveals feud between Ukraine's president and Kyiv's mayor over child's death 'I said once that it smells of authoritarianism in our country. Now it stinks.' Advertisement He also accused President Zelensky of using military administrations across the country to take power from elected mayors. This is not the first time ex-sportsman Klitschko - who is also said to have presidential ambitions - has called out his rival Zelensky. The Kyiv mayor called out the Ukrainian President in February amid stalling peace negotiations. Zelensky then hit back at the boxing champ, saying: "Klitschko is a great athlete, but I didn't know he was a great speaker." Advertisement 8 It comes after Trump clashed with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in front of the world's press 8 Vitali Klitschko said his celebrity status protected his criticism Credit: Getty 8 Vice President JD Vance was also involved in an unseemly war of words with Zelensky Klitschko said that his recent criticism of Zelensky has been protected by his celebrity status. Advertisement 'Many of the mayors are intimidated, but my celebrity status is a protection," he explained. "You can fire the mayor of Chernihiv, but it is very difficult to fire the mayor of the capital who the whole world knows." He added: 'That is why everything is being done to discredit and ruin my reputation.' Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko said that the conflict betwene the two rivals goes deeper. Advertisement The expert said it reflected concern about abuse of city funds in wartime, calling it a "response to manifestations of corruption in the Kyiv city administration". He told The Times: 'During the war money should go primarily to defence, to protect the country, yet there is all this construction." Questioning the corruption in Kyiv, he added: "In some other cities, even stadiums are being built. "In the Donbas there are large landscaping projects. The frontline is near by, and the money is not going to defensive structures, but to greenery." Advertisement Kyiv locals have been baffled as luxury flats keep popping up instead of shelters or schools — often built on public land using a dodgy 'toilet loophole'. This starts with setting up a par-per-use toilet for example, to then receive something similar to squatters' rights. Many of the ten Kyiv officials under investigation have been charged with corruption relating to the approval of these land permits. Klitschko's ex-deputy has been charged with taking bribes to help war conscripts escape, while a former city councillor accused of embezzlement has fled to Austria. Advertisement He responded to claims of corruption under his watch, saying that he had sacked eight of the officials being investigated. "I have 4,500 employees in this building alone and about 300,000 employees working for the city," he said. "Corruption cases sometimes happen, but we react harshly and quickly." He added: "We co-operate with law enforcement, provide all the necessary information and hope for an impartial investigation of all cases." Advertisement Klitshcko's main rival in Kyiv, Tymur Tkachenko, has slated the mayor for showing 'weakness' during wartime. Tkachenko told The Times: 'Mr Klitschko could not close the brothel in the basement of the same building where he lives." He was referring to Tootsies, a notorious strip club raided and shut down by the security service last month as part of an investigation into sex trafficking. Klitschko hit back at claims he was tied to the strip club which is near a hotel complex he owns, calling it a 'lie' meant to smear him.
