Pakistan embassy staffer Danish's link emerges in Rajasthan ‘espionage' case too
Rajasthan Intelligence officials on Tuesday said they have officially arrested Jaisalmer's Shakur Khan, 49, on charges of espionage. Khan was detained a few days ago on suspicion of spying for Pakistan. As per the FIR, Khan was found to have several Pakistani mobile phone numbers saved on his iPhone and was allegedly in touch with these numbers through WhatsApp chats, including through audio and video calls. He is also alleged to have shared strategically important videos and images, which were found to be deleted, with these numbers. Inspector General of Police, Security, Vishnu Kant, said that Khan's activities had been under suspicion for a while, and he was being closely monitored. The IG said that 'during surveillance, it was found that Khan was in constant touch with some people working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, especially Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, and Sohail Qamar.' Last month, intelligence agencies had suspected Pakistan embassy staffer Danish of cultivating a network of spies – including Jyoti Rani Malhotra, a 33-year-old travel vlogger from Haryana – which began to unravel after two arrests were made by police in Malerkotla in early May. Danish was declared persona non grata on May 13 by the Indian government after he was accused of spying. He was also asked to leave India immediately. Officials in Jaipur said that during the investigation, it was found that Khan obtained a Pakistani visa several times with the help of Danish and travelled to the country. During his stay in Pakistan, Khan is accused of contacting agents of the Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). It is alleged that he used to return to India and collect information of strategic importance as per the instructions of ISI and send it to Pakistan through means like WhatsApp. With the help of Danish, he also helped other people in obtaining a visa for Pakistan. 'This was a serious security breach, as due to his position, he could have access to a lot of sensitive information,' the IG said, adding that Khan's actions come under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and that a case has been registered against him for the same. Khan had three mobile phones, which were seized and sent for technical analysis. As per officials, the phones had 'many photos and videos of strategic importance,' which were allegedly shared with his handler whose name he had saved in his phone as Haji Wali Mohammad Darash. A native of Jaisalmer's Mangaliyon ki Dhani, Khan was questioned in detail by the intelligence agencies at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur. Earlier, his association with a former Congress minister had led to an uproar, with BJP leaders demanding an investigation of the minister too.

J&K: Another clampdown on LeT and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen links, 3 govt employees dismissed
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has sacked three government employees allegedly working for terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), said sources on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Malik Ishfaq Naseer, who was working as a police constable; Ajaz Ahmed, working as a teacher in the school education department; and Waseem Ahmad Khan, a Junior Assistant in Government Medical College, Srinagar, the sources added. Since taking office in August 2020, Manoj Sinha has prioritised weakening terrorism's infrastructure by targeting both active terrorists and their support networks, including overground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers embedded in government institutions. Sinha has ensured aggressive counter-terrorism operations, with security forces neutralising hundreds of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir between 2020 and 2024 and termination of more than 70 OGW/Terror associates from government jobs under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution. This comes a month after the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, where terrorists killed around 26 civilians, mostly tourists in Baisaran valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier on May 31, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested two men, both brothers, for supplying Indian SIM cards to Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs). According to the police, the apprehended individuals were Hasin and Kasim, both residents of Rajasthan. According to the officials, the accused, Hasin, had visited Pakistan around 15 years back as his relatives reside there. Currently, he has been in touch with ISI officials for around 4-5 years. In August 2024, he sent SIM cards to Pakistan through Kasim. One of the SIM cards is in his name, and it was used by PIO. During interrogation, it was revealed that Hasin sent pictures of sensitive army establishments to the PIO and received money in lieu of that. The officials added that he also provided OTP with the ability to activate WhatsApp in Pakistan. His ISI handlers also helped him to get a Pakistani Visa for his younger brother Kasim, his brother-in-law and sister when they had gone to Pakistan in August 2024, the police said.

‘I've done nothing wrong': Indian-origin man assaulted by Australian cops after they allegedly mistake argument with wife for domestic violence; on life support
In a case of violent police encounter, a 42-year-old Indian-origin man was allegedly attacked and pinned down in Australia's Adelaide by the cops for 'resisting arrest'. Gaurav Kundi is currently on life support with suspected brain damage due to the incident that his wife, Amritpal Kaur, reportedly captured on video. The incident, which took place on Thursday (May 29), has called upon an internal investigation by the police department, according to a 9News report. In the recording accessed by 9News, Kundi can be seen shouting 'I didn't do anything wrong' while being tackled to the ground with his wife screaming that what the police were doing was 'unfair'. Amritpal stopped filming after one of the police officers put their knee on Gaurav's neck. 'Just 19 seconds of video because I got panicked and I just sat on the ground with Gaurav. I kept saying he's not well, he's not well please don't do this, just call the ambulance,' she was quoted as saying. A Commissioner's Inquiry has been launched into the arrest of father-of-two Gaurav Kundi, who became unresponsive while being arrested by police at Royston Park on Thursday. Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has advised that when people die in custody, Commissioner's Inquiries… — 10 News First Adelaide (@10NewsFirstAdl) June 3, 2025 Amritpal added: 'Doctors are saying his brain is totally damaged. Maybe he will wake up if brain works, or maybe he will not.' The couple were allegedly arguing in public on early Thursday during which Gaurav laid down on the ground and pushed her a little. Amritpal reportedly confirmed that Gaurav was drunk before he left his house and started walking on Payneham road. The scene caught the passing police patrol's attention who purportedly mistook it for domestic violence. This led to the violent incident even as Amritpal clarified they were fighting and not being violent. Later, the cops told 9News that Kundi 'violently resisted' arrest before he lost consciousness. He was admitted to Royal Adelaide Hospital where he reportedly remains in a critical condition. South Australia Police on Friday said that it was so far 'satisfied' with how the police acted.
