Rajasthan Officers Attacked By Bees During 'Operation Shield' Mock Drill
A blackout was observed at different times from 8 pm in the entire state, along with the districts bordering Pakistan in Rajasthan. There was a blackout in different cities from 15 minutes to 25 minutes.
During this time, people switched off the lights of their homes, shops and offices. People stopped the vehicles on the road by switching off the headlights.
During the blackout, there was complete darkness at some places, while at other places the whole city was lit except for a fixed area. Before the blackout at 8.15 pm in Jaipur from Khatipura Road to Hasanpura, a mock drill of the air strike was carried out under Operation Shield.
During the mock drill at Kalisindh Dam in Jhalawar, a hypothetical situation of a drone attack was created. During this, a real emergency situation arose on the spot. In fact, many officers and employees, including the Collector-SP, present on the dam, were attacked by bees. All the officers ran away to save their lives.
A real-time mock drill was conducted on the ground of a government school located on Khatipura Road in Jaipur.
This mock drill was of a drone attack and a missile attack on the Army's residential colony. Jaipur collector Dr Jitendra Soni said, "Reached the spot immediately on the information of the attack. It was simulated that nine villagers were passing through this field. During this, one person died in the attack, while eight people were injured. During the mock drill, rehearsals were also done to rescue people trapped on the roof. During this, people climbed on the roof and shouted for help. After this, people's lives were saved with the help of a crane."
NCC cadets also played a role in the mock drill. A mock drill of an air strike was conducted at Kalyan Medical College in Sikar. Four explosions were simulated here. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade, ambulance, civil defence team and police reached the spot immediately. During this, a small girl got scared, who was taken care of by women police personnel. After the blast, many people were stuck on the 5th floor, who were brought down with the help of ropes. They were taken out. Before the blackout, the police team informed the people in the colonies.
In Ajmer, a blackout was observed from 8 a.m. to 8.30 pm. During this, the government lights on the streets were switched off. People switched off the lights in their houses. The market was closed during the blackout in Barmer.

Major Search Operation In J&K's Kathua After 3 Suspected Terrorists Spotted
A major search operation is underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district after locals reported suspicious activity near a forest area, according to the police. The operation was launched after a civilian spotted three suspected persons in Saladhi area of Hiranagar, the cops said. A joint operation team is engaged in the search, and vigilance has been intensified in the area and along the highway. A similar exercise was undertaken last Tuesday when security forces launched search operations in the higher reaches of Kathua district following information about movement of suspected terrorists, officials said. Last week, Omar Abdullah took his council of ministers and the whole administrative set up to a resort in north Kashmir's Baramulla district for a meeting aimed at negating the perception of fear in the Valley. This came a day after a meeting of the council of ministers at a resort in south Kashmir's Pahalgam. On April 22, terrorists attacked holidaymakers enjoying picturesque Pahalgam, in a lush valley beneath snowcapped Himalayan peaks. Survivors said the attackers separated the men, asked several about their religion, and shot them at close range. All 26 killed were Indian nationals, except one from Nepal. Most were Hindus. One was a Kashmiri Muslim who gave horse rides for tourists. The Pahalgam attackers are still on the run. Following the terrorist attack, the Border Security Force and Army troops were deployed across sensitive regions including Rajouri and Poonch, while the border force strengthened its forward presence in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua.

Call to curb drug abuse
Eluru: District collector K Vetriselvi highlighted the collective responsibility to combat drug use during a 5K walkathon organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event took place on Sunday, starting from Sir CRR Mahila College to the indoor stadium, and was attended by over 600 participants, including officials, public representatives, students, and sportsmen. A drug control pledge programme was also held, where collector Vetriselvi and MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar signed a board advocating for a tobacco-free society. Vetriselvi noted that the central government is taking steps to eradicate drug use and trafficking. She urged the public to report drug-related information to the toll-free numbers 1972 and 14446. De-addiction centres are being established to support those affected. She expressed concern over youth addiction to substances like marijuana and called for awareness programs in schools and colleges to prevent drug abuse. In preparation for the International Day Against Drug Abuse on June 26, she proposed a campaign from June 1 to June 26 to educate the public about the dangers of drugs. She emphasised the need for strict measures against drug trafficking and stressed that public involvement is essential for creating a drug-free district. The collector presented medals to 5 men and 5 women who performed most brilliantly in the walkathon programme. Additional SP Nakka Suryachandra Rao, who participated in the programme, was presented with a medal by the Collector. Along with this, in the men's category, M Ch Raju, S Bhargav, D Narendra Babu, D Srinivasu, GSK Dhanaraju of the Excise Department were presented with medals. In the women's category, students of KPDT School G Bhavya Varshini, Ch Lavanya, M Jahnavi Priya of St Teresa's, and officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department Ch Suryacharkaveni, V Mallika were presented with medals by the Collector. Delhi: 18 years on the run: Fake ‘Army officer' hiding in Punjab old age home finally caught
On the run for 18 years, a 77-year-old man was arrested for allegedly duping people by posing as a colonel in the Army and offering them real estate under a fake Army Welfare Housing Scheme (AWS), the Delhi Police said. The accused, Sitaram Singla, who has an MA in History and Economics from Panjab University, was hiding in an old age home in Patiala since 2007 when he jumped bail. On Saturday, a Crime Branch team received a tip-off about his whereabouts. 'The information revealed that the accused is a resident of Mansa, Punjab. After jumping bail, he is presently living in an old-age home in Patiala, Punjab. The team of ARSC Crime Branch reached the spot and arrested the accused,' DCP (Crime Branch) Apoorva Gupta said. Police said Singla was arrested in 2007 after a complaint was filed at Vivek Vihar police station by a bank employee, Anil Nigam; he claimed Singla duped him of Rs 56,000. 'The accused offered a flat to the complainant, which he said was be built by the Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) under a fictitious scheme, and also offered to book a shop under it. He took Rs 56,000 as earnest money and handed over two receipts to the complainant,' DCP Gupta said. Singla was arrested and got bail the same year, police said. But he failed to appear in court and had been on the run ever since, police said. On April 26, 2025, he was declared a proclaimed offender by the Karkardooma court. Born in Sirsa in 1948, Singla came to Delhi in 1987. 'He started working as a contractor in the Indian Army and supplied oil to various cantonment areas all over India. During his work, he gained knowledge about various ranks of Army Officers and learned about the recruitment process,' DCP Gupta said. Armed with insider knowledge, Singla then allegedly started posing as a colonel and duping people on the pretext of getting them discounted real estate and jobs using AWHO. Police said Singla cut off all contact with family to stay under the radar while on the run. He has two sons; his wife passed away a few years ago. 'He was found involved in three cases of cheating and forgery at Shakarpur police station and the Crime Branch,' the DCP said.
