Iran Appreciates Malaysia's Support During 12-day Attack

Barnama8 hours ago

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) — Iran has expressed deep appreciation to the Malaysian government and its people for their support during the 12-day Israeli assault on the country that began on June 13, according to its Ambassador to Malaysia, Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi.
He also thanked Malaysia for taking a firm stance against Israel's actions, which he said were in clear violation of international law.
'I would like to thank all of them (Malaysians). Of course, we coordinated with the Malaysian government,' he told the media at the Iranian Embassy on Thursday.

He said Malaysians can now travel to Iran at any time, as the situation remained stable during the attack and continues to be so during the current ceasefire.
Valiollah said Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday to discuss how Iran and Malaysia can collaborate to promote peace and security in the region, particularly in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
Asked how Iran hopes to work with Malaysia, the ambassador said Malaysia's influential voice in the international arena, particularly within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations, could help rally global efforts to stop Israel from launching further attacks, adding that without Iran's self-defence, other countries could be next.
Valiollah said Iran hopes to work with ASEAN as a friendly bloc and expand its relations with the region.
Regional tension escalated in the Middle East since June 13 after Israel launched coordinated air strikes on multiple sites across Iran, including nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
The conflict escalated further when the US conducted aerial attacks on three Iranian nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan early June 22.

MOE probing claims Pakistani national officiated school sports event

IPOH: The Education Ministry is investigating claims that a Pakistani national officiated a school sports event in the Kerian district, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. "We are looking into the matter," she told reporters briefly after attending the Perak-level Maal Hijrah 1447H celebration, which the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, officiated here on Thursday night. A video recently circulated on social media showed the man being given the honour of launching the athletics meet in Simpang Empat Semanggol. Meanwhile, Fadhlina expressed her gratitude to Sultan Nazrin for posthumously conferring the Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Award on her late mother, Datin Dr Siti Zalikhah Md Nor. "She was a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a defender of syariah law. Empowering women in all aspects was her life's work and area of expertise. "On behalf of my family, I would like to thank His Royal Highness and the state government for this meaningful recognition," she said. Earlier, Sultan Nazrin presented the award to Fadhlina, who accepted it on her late mother's behalf.— BERNAMA

Fahmi calls on Muslims to begin new chapter with good deeds this Maal Hijrah

KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims in this country need to make the Maal Hijrah celebration a starting point to move towards a better life, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He said the new year also needs to be accompanied by repentance and a resolve to strengthen faith and practice. "Let us turn a new page with a fresh spirit, a clean heart, and the determination to continue contributing to the good of ourselves, our families, the country, and society. "May our every step be always under the protection and blessings of Allah SWT. Happy Maal Hijrah 1447H," he said in a Facebook post last night. This year's Maal Hijrah celebration carries the theme "Membangun Ummah Madani" (Developing a Civilised Society), which emphasises the importance of Muslims taking lessons from the event of Hijrah in building an inclusive and gracious society. The theme also highlights efforts to produce human capital that is not only excellent from a physical perspective but also superior in terms of spirituality and noble values.– BERNAMA
