A Man Was Charged and Imprisoned For Killing a Woman, Then This Netflix-Style Plot Twist Changed Everything
Southern Indiana police thought they solved the murder of a 35-year-old woman earlier this month by throwing the suspect in jail. However, new evidence led to a crazy plot twist that you have to read to believe.
New charges filed April 25 brought the mystery behind the death of Wilma Robertson to an end. The mother of two was found dead with stab wounds to the back inside her home on Hickory Drive in Hanover, Indiana on April 15. Jefferson County prosecutors say they were called to her home for a welfare check when they found her. Later that day, 33-year-old Shawn Bailey was arrested for the alleged murder.
At first, there were no doubts about his involvement, given he'd allegedly admitted to the crime and allegedly had a video of Robertson's dead body. Also, a Facebook account with Bailey's name sent a few cryptic messages to Robertson's ex-husband's girlfriend, per a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime.
One message was a video attachment showing Robertson dead on the floor with Chris Brown's 'Stutter' playing in the back, the report says. The second message read, 'Tell her babe daddy that he doesn't have to worry about her anymore and my bad for me and him getting in it over this b*** me and him both got the same last name. I did him a solid favor.'
However, as the investigation continued, police said the DNA evidence they recovered didn't match Bailey at all. It matched 34-year-old Nigel Thomas of Oxford, Ohio, police said. The cops came to the conclusion that Thomas was the one who stabbed the victim in her home. They claimed he then engaged in 'an elaborate plan to frame a man named Shawn Bailey for her death.'
Police found Thomas went the extra mile, fabricating evidence to incriminate Bailey by creating multiple social media accounts in his name. Police said Thomas then used those accounts to send out messages to relatives of Robertson 'purporting to be Bailey admitting to the murder.'
Questions still remain about how Thomas knew the victim or what the motive was behind her killing. Regardless of the details, Thomas was charged with Robertson's murder and Bailey was set free after spending 10 days in jail for nothing. Thomas is currently in custody in Ohio, waiting to be extradited to Indiana, police said.

One woman told the publication that in 2006, when she was 16-years-old, Leto approached her outside a Los Angeles café. She claimed Leto was sat with fellow actor Ashley Olsen – who was then 19 – and he had grabbed her arm. 'I looked down and it was Jared Leto,' she told Air Mail, adding: 'We had a quick conversation, and he got my number.' She went on to say that Leto called her home a few days later, recalling: 'I don't know if he was on drugs or what … It was the weirdest, grossest voice … [but] for me, it's Jared, you know?' 'And the conversations turned sexual,' she continued. 'He'd ask things like: 'Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a dick?'' Model Laura La Rue came forward with similar claims, saying that when she was 16-years-old in 2008, she was at an event in a private residence in Beverly Hills where Leto was 'watching her so intensely'. She described a separate visit when she was 17 years old, where she alleged Leto walked out of a room completely naked. Another woman who spoke to the outlet said that she and Leto began texting while she was still underage. She alleged he would ask her inappropriate questions during her visits to his house, including 'Do any of the little boys you hang out with fuck you?' The woman alleged that once, when she was 18, Leto had 'suddenly pulled his penis out and started masturbating'. She told Air Mail: 'He walked over, grabbed my hand, and put it on him. A man who works as a fire inspector for the City of St. Paul has been charged with the kidnapping and attempted sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. James Allen Thomas, 73, of Woodbury, offered the middle school girl a ride to school after she missed her bus on the morning of a wet May 21, but first took her to his apartment. There he allegedly tried to force her legs apart, and when she refused he offered her $50 to take her clothes off, to let him touch her, and for her to touch him, the charges state. The girl says after missing her bus she had sought help from a medical clinic on Phalen Boulevard in St. Paul, but as she got near to the entrance she encountered Thomas, who was wearing a uniform and sitting in a grey SUV. She accepted his offer of help, thinking he was a security officer. When they got to his apartment, the girl told police that Thomas locked the door behind them before attempting his assault. The victim told police she "wanted to cry the entire time" she was with Thomas, and instantly started crying after she got out of his car when he dropped her at school. A school staff member said she was outside the building when the victim arrived, and says the victim immediately hugged her, which she said was unusual, and said the girl was shaking and visibly upset. The staff member told police that a man then got out of the car, identifying himself as a "Sergeant with the St. Paul Fire Department," and said he'd picked the girl up and brought her to school. The vehicle he exited from was later identified as belonging to Thomas. When arrested on June 5, Thomas admitted giving the girl a ride to school, claiming he first took her to an elementary school by accident. When told that his vehicle is equipped with a device that automatically tracks its location, Thomas admitted that before dropping the girl at school, he had to stop by his apartment to lock it, but claimed the girl never got out of the car. Despite surveillance from outside the clinic, the school, and his own cellphone data showing it took Thomas 45 minutes to travel the six-and-a-half miles from the clinic to the school, Thomas denied that it took that length of time. He then denied touching the girl or asking to see or touch her private parts. He said the only touching was possibly rubbing against her arm when he looked at her iPad.
