Hibs contract latest for season 2025/26
Some have been locked down more securely than the crown jewels. Others are, regardless of their contract status as signed-on employees of Hibernian Football Club, a good deal more loosely connected to their current employers.
Hibs boss David Gray has made great play out of the importance of retaining key figures as he heads into his second season as Hibs boss. Which means sporting director Malky Mackay working overtime to do some sort of deal - whatever it takes, effectively - that would bring Nectar Triantis back to Easter Road for another season, at least. Over to Sunderland and the player himself on that one, right?
With Rocky Bushiri and Junior Hoilett both effectively out of contract and considering their options, Hibs fans will know to expect a summer of some uncertainty. But the club HAVE tied down a number of key performers to long-term deals over the past year or so, avoiding the very prospect of over a dozen players entering free agency all at the same time.
Here's how the squad looks at the moment, then, complete with contract details. If you've forgotten about one or two of the Hibs players loaned out last season, well, that's entirely forgivable.
1 . Rocky Bushiri – Up in the air
Out of contract in a matter of days, Bushiri has been free to talk to other clubs since January. Named Players' Player of the Year by his team-mates, the big central defender has options in Belgium – and Egyptian club Zamalek had a bid knocked back by Hibs mid-season. A lot of factors at play here. | SNS Group Photo Sales
2 . Lewis Miller – Sticking around
Aw yeah? Hibs triggering the one-year extension in his existing contract was a bit of a no-brainer. Versatile defender is here for another season at least. | SNS Group Photo Sales
3 . Jordan Smith – Long term deal signed
Arrived as a back-up. Steadied the ship at a vital moment. Signed a new deal tying him to Hibs until 2028. Will probably face competition for a start as Hibs enter the market for another goalie this summer. | SNS Group Photo Sales
4 . Dylan Levitt – No movement
Under contract until the end of next season. Might be one Hibs look to tie down, depending performances once the new campaign kicks off. | SNS Group Photo Sales

Gary Lineker names his ‘favourite' to win Ballon d'Or ahead of Mohamed Salah
Gary Lineker has named his 'favourite' to win the Ballon d'Or ahead of Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah. Despite intense speculation over a departure from Anfield, Salah enjoyed arguably his best season at the club, scoring a league best 29 goals in the Premier League. Salah's form helped Arne Slot's Liverpool clinch the Premier League title and led to calls for the Egyptian to bag his first Ballon d'Or award, given to the best footballer in the world over the past year. But Lineker believes Salah, 32, will be left disappointed yet again and has tipped Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League winner Ousmane Dembele to be recognised as the best player on the planet. Dembele starred in PSG's maiden Champions League triumph and also helped Luis Enrique's side clinch a domestic double, scoring 33 goals in all competitions. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. 'We have to come to the inevitable question of the Ballon d'Or,' ex-England striker and Match of the Day host Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast. 'It's obviously hugely influenced generally by the team that wins the Champions League. But in some ways because of the nature of PSG's teamwork it doesn't come down to one individual. 'You could probably give it to quite a few of their players. I suppose Dembele will be the favourite. He had a couple of really good moments in the final despite not getting a goal. 'He was very involved in quite a few of the goals, one assist and maybe a pre-assist as well. I think he will probably be favourite now. 'Donnaruma might have a slight chance but goalkeepers rarely get it. Maybe Hakimi as well.' Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer added: 'I would guess Dembele, he would probably be the favourite for it now.' PSG beat Premier League clubs Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on route to the final and then thrashed Inter Milan 5-0 to lift the trophy. Following the final, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard said on TNT Sports: 'Does Luis Enrique deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola? The answer is yes. 'This team he has created and put together over the past year or two can beat you in any given way. 'The talent across this squad – it is a special group of players and they're getting coached by a special person as well.' More Trending Meanwhile, Salah recently discussed his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or, admitting he used to be obsessed with the prospect of landing the gong. 'It used to drive me crazy before,' Salah, who has signed a new deal to stay at Anfield, told Sky Sports. 'Some stuff is not in your hands so you give up in that direction. 'When you go to work you remind yourself what you want to achieve in the season so it drives you to work harder. 'I'd love to win it one day. But if it didn't happen, it's okay. I'm sure there's a good chance to win it this year, but we'll see.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Aberdeen plan to back manager Jimmy Thelin this summer in the transfer market as the Dons grapple with juggling domestic commitments with European football until Christmas. Thanks to winning the Scottish Cup final against Celtic on penalties last week, Aberdeen will enter the Europa League at the play-off round. Should they win, they will advance to the main phase of that competition but if they lose, they parachute into the Conference League. Jimmy Thelin has received backing throughout his time at Aberdeen. | SNS Group The same fate befell Hearts and not one but two head coaches in Steven Naismith and Neil Critchley this term. Aberdeen chief executive Alan Burrows and chairman Dave Cormack are aware the strain fighting on multiple fronts can have on the squad and know that depth is required. 'We've got European group-stage football to work towards now,' said Burrows. 'Aberdeen last year, Hearts this year ... the pitfalls of European group-stage football can be that it impacts your domestic season. You need to be ready for that: mentally, physically and having some depth. Aberdeen 'have spent a bit of money' 'Dave has said that we will look to support Jimmy. I think most Aberdeen fans would agree that Jimmy's had a fair bit of backing from the club already. We've tried to back him in year one, we've spent a bit of money. Hopefully playing in group-stage European football will allow us to keep doing that, given there's going to be a real increase in the volume of matches in the first half of the season.' However, players such as Jack MacKenzie and Jamie McGrath have left after their deals expired. Burrows is confident that the remodelling of the squad will take shape. 'We've got another couple just about in the tank,' continued Burrows. 'We've got a fair bit of work to do. There's no secret that there's guys out of contract, we've got loans, and the nature of a player trading model is that players will leave and come in. 'Anyone who was humming and hawing over it, the fact you have the carrot of European group-phase football might nudge some over the line or attract someone into the reckoning.'
