The Ape and Apple Pub just off Deansgate belongs to the Manchester -based Joseph Holt brewery, established 175 years ago.
First opened in 1997 by Manchester United legend, Denis Law, the historic pub now boasts a number of new features.
The new refurbishment sees a top-to-toe decoration including the installation of new white marble topped bars, Manchester Evening News reports.
The interior has a brighter, sleeker and more modern design and lighting while their function room and popular roof terrace have also undergone improvements.
There are also nods to the pubs history including a photo of Denis Law pouring the pub's first pint at the venue's opening up on the wall.
With its weekly Comedy Balloon nights, the pub is one of the liveliest entertainment venues in the city.
The venue also plays host to salsa classes on a Monday night, one of the few pubs in the UK that holds these events.
It doesn't stop there either with an improvised Murder Mystery night on the second Thursday of each month.
The work holds a special place in the heart of Jane Kershaw, whose great-great-great grandfather was founder Joseph Holt, who set up the brewery in 1849.
Jane designed the sign for the Ape and Apple at the age of 10 and it still hangs outside the pub today.
Her father, Richard Kershaw, the company's CEO, asked Jane to design the sign on a rainy Saturday morning to give her something to do.
Jane is now a director of Joseph Holt and the sixth generation of the family to work in the company.
She said: "I always loved drawing, and even at the age of ten was obsessed with anything to do with the brewery.
"From how the beer was brewed to the pubs themselves.
"So I immediately set about making the sign for the Ape and Apple.
"I was thrilled when this was then turned into the sign which is still there today.
"It remains one of my proudest achievements – especially now the pub is in its 30th year and has this wonderful reputation for being such a popular venue.
'The Ape and Apple is one of our Manchester city centre flagship pubs.
"And following its recent refurbishment it's likely to prove even more popular with customers who want somewhere to go to enjoy a lively night out as well as our selection of cask ales.
"It's also popular with those who come to Manchester for a city break and are looking to enjoy the night life here.
"The Ape and Apple has such a wonderful history and we're looking forward to a bright future for it too.'
Jane's handiwork shows an ape balancing an apple in its hand as it perches on a barrel of beer and the sign has hung outside the pub since 1997.
A blue plaque can also be found on the wall outside the Ape and Apple.
The plaque commemorates scientist John Dalton, dubbed "The Father of Modern Chemistry".
The Joseph Holt brewery headquarters have been located in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester since 1860.
As of 2025, they own 127 pubs across the North West.

THE 1% Club eliminated 15 players on a difficult letter question - but are you smarter and could you have solved it in 30 seconds? Hosted by Lee Mack, contestants put their logic and common sense to the test in the hit ITV quiz. 3 3 Lee was on top form on the ITV favourite in which he is tasked with finding who is the brainiest of his 100 audience members. Every week, fans see the players whittled down as they fail to advance past the increasingly difficult questions. This time around was no different, as 15 people failed to correctly work out the 70% puzzle. Reading the question to the audience, Lee asked: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. "Is a sentence that uses every letter in the alphabet but which letter appears the most?" Lee then gave the contestants the choice of A, E, I or O. And as the thirty seconds counted down he joked: "The foxes around my way are very cocky. "They knock on the door to remind me to put the bins out - I'm joking, my wife puts the bins out." Once 30 seconds was up, it was revealed 15 people had given the wrong answer and were eliminated. The correct answer was O, as it was explained: "Many people think it's E as it's the most commonly used letter in the alphabet. The 1% Club knocks out 25 players on 'easy' picture question - can you get it? "But it is in fact O which appears four times in the sentence." Since debuting three years ago, the game show is well-known for its tricky puzzles. A previous episode saw a whopping 30 people wiped out on a smiley face brainteaser. The 1% Club's Most Difficult Questions The 1% Club sees 100 contestants try and make it to the 1% question and be in with a chance to win a share of the jackpot. Emmerdale star ‘struggled' filming soap's ‘weird' intimate moments as she breaks silence on sexy scenes

EMMERDALE star Roxy Shahidi has admitted she struggled filming intimate scenes on the soap. The actress - who played Leyla Harding in the ITV soap - has broken her silence on how she felt filming sexy scenes. 3 3 3 Speaking to former co-star Matthew Wolfenden, Roxy opened up about how she felt having to kiss her co-stars - and it's safe to say she's not a fan. Matthew said: "They decided to try to put David and Leyla back together — do you remember? — and we had to do a kissy scene. It was the weirdest thing, wasn't it? "Because it's alright when you're doing those scenes with... (people you don't know so well)." She said on their podcast The Celebrity Side Hustle Roxy said: "I really struggle with them, because I am someone, and I know it sounds daft as an actor because people listening will be saying, 'It's your job.' 'It is, and you do get on with it, but for me personally, I'm so weird about personal space. "I've just never felt comfortable with it." She added: "It's always made me anxious. "I always get a bit awkward, but the best way I found to deal with it is to almost choreograph it like a dance." The actress left the show in 2024, and bowed out after her character, Leyla was killed in the tragic limo crash. A source close to the telly star said at the time: "Roxy has adored her time on the soap and has made so many happy memories since first joining when she was 17. I was stunned when I found out my Emmerdale character Leyla Harding was going to die in limo crash… it was very tough, admits star Roxy Shahidi "The cast have become like family to her and she has grown so much as an actress, but now feels like the perfect time to spread her wings and try something new. "She is really excited about her meaty exit storyline, which will see her character Leyla die on screen. 'She'd rather go out in a blaze of glory and be remembered."
