Dry skies in northern Utah, chance of storms in the south
SALT LAKE CITY () – Happy Tuesday, Utah! It's a tale of two cities again today, with dry skies in northern Utah and the chance of storms in southern Utah. Temperatures will be close to seasonal norms statewide, or even slightly below average. Bottom Line? Cooler Tuesday with isolated storms for the southern part of the state. The start of the work week brought two systems working in tandem, with a low with tropical remnants embedded impacting the south as a cold front swept through the state. We currently have above-average moisture potential, so the chance of a hit-or-miss storm is possible. While storms won't be widespread, we still have an environment that supports heavy downpours, gusty winds and small hail. Our flash flood threat has decreased since Monday, but it still remains elevated. The setup allows for 'possible' flash flooding in areas like Grand Staircase, the Mighty 5, Buckskin Gulch and Paria Canyon. It's always important to be weather aware, so if you're recreating in southern Utah, know the risks or plan for another day of exploring, especially in low-lying areas. As we hit midweek, another surge of moisture is expected with a cut-off low-pressure system moving through the Desert Southwest. We will see another day of slow-moving storms with the flash flood threat likely increasing on Wednesday. The Weather Prediction Center is calling for a marginal risk for excessive rainfall in southern Utah on Tuesday, and pushes that threat further north for the midweek. We could even see a few storms make it to Northern Utah by the end of the work week, so stay tuned. We'll keep you posted on the latest updates in our 4Warn Weather, both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Mostly sunny Tuesday, new tropical activity in the Atlantic
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Mostly sunny Tuesday afternoon with highs in the upper 80s. Rain chances will be very, very spotty throughout the area around 2 p.m. The typical summer-like pattern continues for us as this week progresses. Slightly higher rain potentials remain for each day the rest of this week as humidity levels increase a bit. It continues to be hard to pin point exactly the time and place of rain in the afternoon. These showers are mainly driven by the heat of the day. Activity in the Atlantic continues to capture the attention of many. This brings no impact to us locally, but the east coast could see this low pressure develop some tropical characteristics come the end of this week. It is expected to move NE at about 10 -15 mph.'Jaywalking' alligator issued summons for crossing the road in Houma At NOWFE, Gulf Shrimp on a slice of life & carrot cornbread Kidcast: Alaya Gary from New Orleans-Uptown! Hot, hazy through Wednesday before a stormy Thursday
Happy Tuesday! It's a quiet, cool, comfortable, and foggy start to the day. The thickest of fog will be found in our typical valley locations, so be sure to drive safely. Temperatures are in the 40s/50s which means you may need a light layer (sweater, light jacket, etc.) early on. The one accessory you won't want to forget today? The shades! Highs will hike into the upper 70s to low 80s with tolerable humidity, sun, clouds, and wildfire smoke. That extra haziness in the sky because of Canadian wildfire smoke will have minimal impacts on our overall air quality. Our AQI will check in at moderate today which means those most sensitive groups (elderly, very young, lung/health conditions) should take it easy. Overnight into Wednesday morning, it's hazy and mild with lows near 60. Wednesday will be very hot, sunny, and dry with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. It will be commonplace to see some fair weather clouds bubbling up late in the day as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Overnight into Thursday morning, a few showers can't be ruled out in northern New York. Lows will only tumble into the mid 60s. After a warm Thursday morning, it will be easy to get back into the mid 80s Thursday afternoon with a mix of sun, clouds, and isolated strong to severe storms. The best chance for those big boomers will reside from central Vermont and points south, but it's something we're continuing to fine tune and watch closely. Nevertheless, Thursday will be our next best chance for active weather. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
