TV channel, kickoff time announced for Alabama vs. Georgia
TV channel, kickoff time announced for Alabama vs. Georgia The television channel and kickoff time for one of the SEC's greatest rivalries has been set. Georgia will play Alabama at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 27 on ABC, writing another chapter to the rivalry between these two SEC powerhouses. The rivalry started many years ago but reached its peak in the late 2010s and early 2020s. Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart, who previously served as defensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has historically struggled against his old team. Smart has a 1-6 record against the Crimson Tide, but Georgia has arguably been Alabama's greatest adversary, even during the Nick Saban era. In the 2017 national championship, Georgia led Alabama 13-0 halftime, but Alabama came back to win with a walk-off touchdown in overtime. The same scenario in the 2018 SEC championship when Georgia lost a 28-21 third-quarter lead, which effectively ended Georgia's season. In 2021, it looked like Georgia would play second fiddle to Alabama again when the Bulldogs lost the 2021 SEC championship to the Crimson Tide. Fortunately, in the 2021 national championship, Smart finally triumphed over his old team and Georgia won against Alabama 33-18. However, even after Saban announced his retirement after the 2023 season, Kirby Smart's struggles against Alabama continued in 2024. With Georgia down 33-15 in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs rallied, scoring 19 unanswered, but a bomb from Jalen Milroe to Ryan Williams allowed Alabama to walk away with victory 41-34 last season. The loss broke several records that Georgia had built up to that point. As for 2025, fans of Georgia and Alabama are expecting another thriller. Georgia will also play Auburn at night (6 to 8 p.m. start), and the games against Ole Miss and Texas have flexible kickoff times (afternoon or night) for maximum viewership. The Bulldogs' first three games against Marshall, Austin Peay, and Tennessee are all at 3:30 p.m. ET. After their first bye week, Georgia will play Alabama at 7:30 p.m. ET and Kentucky at 12:00 p.m. playing Auburn at night and Ole Miss on a flex schedule, the Bulldogs will enjoy their second bye week. After the bye, they'll face Florida at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC and Mississippi State at noon. To conclude the regular season, Georgia will play Texas in the flex spot, followed by Charlotte at 12:45 p.m. ET and vs. Georgia Tech at 3:30 p.m. ET. Georgia football's 2025 schedule Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m. (ESPN): Marshall Thundering Herd (home) Sept. 6 at 3:30 p.m. (ESPN+/SEC Network+): Austin Peay Governors (home) Sept. 13 at 3:30 p.m. (ABC): Tennessee Volunteers (away) Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. (ABC): Alabama Crimson Tide (home) Oct. 4 at 12 p.m. (ABC or ESPN): Kentucky Wildcats (home) Oct. 11 at night: Auburn Tigers (away) Oct. 18 at flex kickoff time: Ole Miss Rebels (home) Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m. (ABC): Florida Gators (neutral in Jacksonville, Florida) Nov. 8 at noon (ABC or ESPN): Mississippi State Bulldogs (away) Nov. 15 at flex kickoff time: Texas Longhorns (home) Nov. 22 at 12:45 p.m. (SEC Network): Charlotte 49ers (home) Nov. 28 at 3:30 p.m. (ABC): Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (neutral in Atlanta, Georgia) Night kickoff time: 6 to 8 p.m. start.
