Mahfoud: For strengthening state's presence by preventing events in Syria from affecting Lebanon's stability
NNA - In an issued statement this afternoon, the head of the "Change Movement" party, Attorney Elie Mahfoud, warned against groups attempting to implicate Lebanon in light of what is happening in Syria.
He underlined the "necessity of fortifying the presence of the Lebanese state by preventing the events on the Syrian coast to affect Lebanese stability as in the past."
"The danger here lies in the volunteering of groups to intrude and storm into the developments, which will allow Lebanon to be dragged into adventures that bring chaos and destruction. Hence, the responsibility of the rule and government lies in establishing a defensive boundary to protect the Lebanese Republic," Mahfoud asserted.
He concluded by stressing that the opportunity of the current changes requires affirming and activating the slogan of "Lebanon First and Last.'"

He noted that the elected municipalities will have to play an effective role in the reconstruction project when it will be launched.
