Alpine Leads at the Halfway Mark of the 6 Hours of Spa
The three Ferraris dominated qualifying to start first through third, but their qualifying dominance has not been followed by complete race dominance. The N0. 50 Ferrari 499P of Nicklas Nielsen led until the final pit cycle before the halfway mark. The No. 36 Alpine has had a wildly good start to the race, taking the lead on lap 63 on pace after starting in sixth.
Frederic Makowiecki took the start for Alpine and moved to second through the first two and a half hours, first making the move for fifth on the opening lap and to fourth by lap eight by passing the No. 94 of the Peugeot with Loic Duval behind the wheel at the time. On lap ten, Makowiecki set his sights on the Ferrari's first passing the No. 83 of Hanson and then moving to second by passing the No. 51 of James Calado down the Eau Rouge.
Makowiecki was the first group of leaders to pit as the No. 50 of Nielsen stayed out to extend the opening segment the longest of the leaders.
Two laps later, when the lead Ferrari pitted, the Alpine with its new driver, Jules Gounon, on hot tires was making his way around the circuit, and the No. 50 narrowly made it out of the pits ahead. With the speed and warmed tires, the Alpine was able to take the lead from Ferrari at pace to lead the next 30 minutes before, just a minute before the official halfway mark, the No. 95 United Autosports McLaren was turned in a high speed crash at the exit of turn six to bring out the second safety car of the race.
The No. 50 and No. 51 Ferraris run second and third at the half, with the No. 51 battling back after falling to fifth early. The No. 20 BMW M Team WRT is the first car outside the podium position in hypercars as they continue to run after the half behind the safety car.
The No. 93 and No. 94 Peugeot TE's briefly held third and fourth as they battled the second Ferrari before falling back to fifth and sixth, respectively.
The No. 7 Toyota Gazoo shortly was running in second behind the N0. 50 Ferrari as one of the last leaders to pit. Toyota had an abysmal one-lap pace in qualifying with the No. 7 starting 16th. After Mike Conway completed the first pit, the Toyota was still able to hold on to a top-ten at the half, running in seventh.
The NO. 38 Cadillac HTJ made a move by the No. 5 Porsche Penske on lap 74 to take eighth, and it's sister car of the N0. 12 rounded out the top ten.

Real Madrid eye move for Arsenal prodigy whose contract expires in 2026
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on three players across Europe as they look to eye move Bosman deals in the near future. One of them was Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly, a left-back who made his breakthrough for the Gunners this past season. Advertisement Lewis-Skelly was involved in 23 Premier League matches, almost becoming a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta during the backend of the campaign. Lewis-Skelly's breakthrough has led to intense speculation over his future, especially with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026. Real Madrid are interested in Lewis-Skelly Just hours after the report, Fabrizio Romano has now chimed in on the matter, confirming Real Madrid's interest in Lewis-Skelly. It appears Los Blancos are aware of the youngster's contract situation at Arsenal and could be potentially eyeing a future Bosman move for the player. What does the future have in store for Myles Lewis-Skelly? (Photo by) Advertisement Real Madrid, after all, have shifted their transfer policy greatly in recent years, focusing more on players with expiring contracts. This was indicative in Real Madrid's deals to sign David Alaba, Kylian Mbappe and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Real Madrid could be planning to pull a same move on Lewis-Skelly, although Romano adds that Arsenal are not too keen on releasing the player. The Gunners are confident of convincing the teenage prospect to sign a new deal at Emirates, which will secure his long-term future at the club. Real Madrid, therefore, may have to do more than just convincing if they are to have any hopes of signing Lewis-Skelly in the future. Fortunately, the club have other options in the market, including Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate, who has emerged as a top priority for the club in 2026.

The Jetsons Promised Us Jet-Propelled Cars of the Future. Here's Why That'll Never Happened
Automakers are on a massive quest to find alternative fuel sources. Some believe batteries are the future, while other, more skeptical minds are exploring hydrogen , synthetics , and other alternatives in hopes of keeping the combustion engine alive . However, they might have overlooked a far more exciting alternative—jet propulsion. A new Garage 54 video attempts to find out if you can propel a car entirely by high-pressure steam, and it turns out that yes, you can. However, it doesn't appear to be an efficient, effective, or safe alternative to gasoline, electric vehicles, or walking. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The crew outfitted an old Lada with external braces to hold the high-pressure tank that they filled with water. They then built a fire around the tank to create the necessary steam inside, but it took them several attempts to get it to work right. However, the system finally worked, propelling the little Lada across the field before running out of steam. The pressure was strong enough to deform the vehicle's structure, revealing the tremendous power water and fire can create in specific conditions, but it's a short-lived source of propulsion. It took the Garage 54 team several hours to get it working, and in a world where our cars must be reliable, waiting around to create enough steam to make it all the way to work would take too much time. Sadly, jet-powered cars are not the future, no matter what the Jetsons promised. The massive jet of steam out the back isn't practical or safe, even if it looks cool.
