Chempedak fruit have fungal disease
My chempedak tree has finally fruited after more than a decade. Unfortunately, the fruit are mouldy and fall off. How can I prevent this from happening?

Your chempedak fruit seem to have a fungal disease similar to that found in its relative, the jackfruit. Such diseases are common in warm, humid and rainy conditions.
Prune the tree's canopy for better air circulation and ensure the tree is growing in well-draining soil. Remove any diseased fruit.
You can also protect developing fruit with copper fungicide, which is an organic fungicide that you can buy online and at large nurseries.

Let the plant grow and develop more identifying features before attempting to eat it.

This plant seems to be the Red Egyptian Spinach (Corchorus species). Its leaves are edible and they have a mucilaginous texture.
However, avoid eating it for now. Let the plant grow and produce flowers and fruit, so it can develop more identifying features.

Tillandsia ionantha's leaves turn red when it is flowering. You can see purple flower buds emerging from the centre of the plant. After flowering, the main plant will stop growing and new plants will emerge from between the leaves.
Apply pesticide to control whiteflies

I have had this bonsai for a few years and prune it every two months. Yesterday, I noticed whiteflies and a few black branches. I have sprayed the plant with soap. What is wrong and how can I treat it?

The black parts of the plant could be sooty mould that grows on the sugar-rich secretion from whiteflies.
These pests can be difficult to control and you need to be diligent in applying pesticides that have a rapid knock-down effect. Since this is an ornamental plant, you can use pesticides like cypermethrin, which is available for sale in most nurseries. Regular and thorough applications are necessary for adequate pest control.
You can also try sprinkling dinotefuran pellets around the root zone of your plant. This is a systemic pesticide that will be taken up by the plant and kill the whiteflies that feed on the pesticide-laden sap.

Is my Monstera sunburnt, facing a pest issue or just lacking in nutrients? I could not see pests on the leaves. It is on the floor of a balcony that gets filtered light in the morning and direct light in the afternoon. The soil is dry.

If the plant is being grown in a sunny spot, the yellowing could be due to sunburn, especially if it was previously in a shaded spot. The leaf may also have been burnt by coming into contact with heated window glass. Plants are best located away from window glass and need to adapt gradually to higher light levels.
The yellowing is likely not due to a nutrient issue, but check for sap-sucking pests like spider mites. These common pests appear as small red dots on the leaves and can be difficult to spot with the naked eye. If the infestation is minor, several applications of diluted soapy water can be used to suffocate them. A simple wipe with a wet cloth can also do the trick.

Gold falls on strong dollar; US-China talks take spotlight
Gold prices declined on Tuesday, hurt by an uptick in the U.S. dollar as market participants awaited details from the second day of trade talks between the U.S. and China in London. Spot gold fell 0.6% to $3,307.72 an ounce, as of 0502 GMT. U.S. gold futures slipped 0.8% to $3,327.50. The dollar index rose 0.3% against its rivals, making gold more expensive for other currency holders. The trade talks between the world's two largest economies encompass issues ranging from tariffs to rare earth metals restrictions. 'With U.S.-China trade talks still in the works, gold is trading reservedly until we see any progress is made between the two global superpowers,' said Tim Waterer, chief market analyst at KCM Trade. U.S. President Donald Trump said his administration was 'doing well' in the negotiations. Last month, both sides agreed to a temporary pause in tariffs against each other, offering some relief to financial markets. Data from China showed export growth slowed to a three-month low in May as U.S. tariffs affected shipments, while factory-gate deflation worsened to its deepest level in two years. Gold prices remain stable in Pakistan Meanwhile, U.S. inflation data, due on Wednesday, could give investors more guidance on the U.S. Federal Reserve's monetary policy path. 'If CPI has ticked marginally higher, that would be an expected result, but if it jumps, then that could raise some alarm bells for investors, and any resulting flight to safety could help the gold price,' Waterer said. Gold gains appeal during times of geopolitical and economic uncertainty and tends to do well when interest rates are low. Elsewhere, spot silver was down 0.5% to $36.52 per ounce, platinum was flat at $1,219.65, while palladium gained 0.4% to $1,078.94.

Chilling true story behind real-life exorcism of 'possessed' woman that inspired Al Pacino's The Ritual
Hollywood legend Al Pacino is starring in his first ever horror movie, The Ritual. The terrifying film is based on the real-life exorcism of Emma Schmidt in Iowa back in 1928. The case is the most documented exorcism in history, largely thanks to theologian Carl Vogl's 1935 book Begone Satan. It's also believed to have partially inspired the 1973 horror classic, The Exorcist. While some specific details of Schmidt's life and alleged demonic possession are unclear, most accounts state that she started showing signs of Satanic interference from as young as 14. Schmidt, who was raised Catholic, began hearing 'sinister inner voices' that compelled her to do 'shameful and unmentionable' things, according to Vogl's book. Some of her behavior included sexual acts, an aversion to holy objects, and the urge to attack her spiritual advisor. According to Bloody Disgusting, Schmidt was 'uniquely aware of the presence of religious artefacts'. If somebody approached her with a holy object, even if it was hidden, she could sense it and would fly into a rage. She was also 'highly sensitive to holy water', to the point that she once refused a meal that had been sprinkled with a few blessed drops. Multiple doctors examined her at the time and could find no signs of mental or physical illness, which only further fueled the theory that she'd been possessed. Schmidt underwent her first exorcism in 1912 at the hands of Father Theophilus Riesinger, who is played by Pacino in The Ritual. At one point, it was suspected that she had been possessed by her Aunt Mina, who was believed to be a witch. While little is known about her first exorcism, Riesinger returned almost two decades later in 1928 to perform a second exorcism. This one was far more elaborate, with Riesinger and another priest, Father Joseph Stieger, played by Dan Stevens in The Ritual, taking Schmidt to a convent in Earling, Iowa. Schmidt was given a pseudonym, Anna Ecklund, to protect her identity during the chilling exorcism. The second exorcism was performed in three sessions over a period of four months, totalling 23 days in total. Riesinger claimed that Schmidt was possessed by four different spirits, including her own father, who had unsuccessfully tried to get his daughter to commit incest with him. According to Vogl's book, Schmidt levitated in the air, vomited repeatedly, contorted her body, and made inhuman animal noises during the exorcism. Eventually, Riesinger completed the ritual after three consecutive nights and days with no breaks. Schmidt survived and lived out the rest of her life in peace, although some reports claim that she suffered from mild possessions over the years until her death. Her case largely remained a secret until a widely-read Time magazine article was published in 1936, Religion: Exorcist & Energumen. Now Schmidt's chilling story is being brought to life in The Ritual. Directed by indie filmmaker David Midell, the movie sees Pacino transform into Father Riesinger, who teams up with Dan Stevens's conflicted Father Steiger to banish a demonic spirit from, Schmidt, who is portrayed by Abigail Cowen. It's new territory for Pacino, who has steered away from the horror genre throughout his illustrious career. The closest that the 85-year-old has come to horror is the psychological thrillers The Devil's Advocate, Insomnia, and 88 Minutes.
