2-year-old shot in stroller as gunfight erupts outside store, Florida cops say
A 2-year-old tucked in a baby stroller was shot when a four-way gunfight erupted outside a busy Florida store, according to investigators.
It happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Cocoa Meat & Produce in West Cocoa and investigators have yet to determine a motive, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said in a video posted on Facebook.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey says at least four people were involved in the shootout, which began when three men confronted a male and female as they exited the store with a toddler.
'We're not exactly sure at this point who fired first,' Ivey said. 'But as the shooting started to take place, over 50 rounds were fired. Right at 50 round from all different directions. One of those rounds struck the 2-year-old female baby in the pelvic area.'
The child is hospitalized in stable condition, he said. Details of her relationship to the male and female at the store have not been released.
The three men who confronted the couple escaped. They were seen traveling in a black Mercedes, officials said.
Investigators have yet to learn what prompted the gunfire, but the four shooters are believed to be involved in 'some type of ongoing feud.'
'Right now we have the male subject that came out of the store ... in our custody ... We are looking for other three subjects,' Ivey said.
'All four of them are shooting back and fourth at each other, not only putting the baby at risk but others that are in the area around. The parking lot was packed at the time and these individuals are out here acting like clowns, shooting at each other.'

Cell phone store theft investigation moves forward
EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they have two suspects in the break-in and theft at a cell phone store in Luzerne County. Police say one of the suspects was identified by someone who saw him on a 28/22 news social media post about the break-in. Video of the break-in at the Boost Mobile store in Edwardsville on Thursday morning shows two men inside the store. One man was identified by police as 55-year-old Peter Showalter, and law enforcement say break-ins at cell phone stores are increasing nationwide and in our area. Showalter was arrested by Wilkes-Barre Police for allegedly stealing the Mercedes Benz that was used in the Boost Mobile break-in. Investigators tell the I-Team that someone recognized Showalter on a 28/22 News social media post, as well as on the Edwardsville Facebook page, and called police. Detectives also say that cell phone thefts, both from stores and individuals, are on the rise in northeastern Pennsylvania. 'There's a large market for it. It is becoming more difficult for them to sell phones in that manner, but there's always somebody that going to be willing to buy it,' Rabb added. Spencer Rappaport is a tech expert and runs a computer store in Edwardsville. 'There's a great market for them. People take them and will replace the IMEI, which is the serial number, basically that identifies them to what carrier that can be used, which service they can put on them,' Rappaport said. South Attleboro man killed in head-on crash in Wareham
A South Attleboro man was killed in a highway crash Thursday in Wareham. Matthew Burns, 49, died when his motorcycle collided with an oncoming car on Route 28 or Cranberry Highway in Wareham late Thursday afternoon, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said. Burns was traveling northbound on Cranberry Highway when witnesses reported he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a Mercedes compact SUV traveling in the other direction, authorities said. Wareham Police and State Police officers found Burns unresponsive and pronounced him dead following CPR. The driver of the Mercedes was being treated at an area hospital. The driver of the SUV, an unnamed woman, told police she saw several motorcyclists on the opposite side of the road and when going around a bend, one of the motorcyclists lost control of his motorcycle and swerved into her lane. She told police she couldn't avoid colliding with the motorcycle, officials said. There were four other motorcyclists with Burns at the time of the crash, and one suffered minor injuries, they added. Part of the highway was shut down because of the crash, which is still under investigation by State Police. It was the second motorcycle accident in Wareham this week and the third this year. A motorcyclist collided with an oncoming truck on Glen Charlie Road Wednesday and a 20-year-old Rochester man was killed in a motorcycle accident March 4, also on Cranberry Highway. Seven Injured, Two Critically, In South Dallas Shooting
Seven people were hospitalized, two in critical condition, after a shooting in the historic Wheatley Place neighborhood of South Dallas on Thursday night. Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. at a neighborhood convenience store at the corner of South Malcolm X Boulevard and Lenway Street. Upon arrival, officers found seven victims with gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect shot multiple people at the scene. Dallas Fire-Rescue dispatched five ambulances, transporting four men and one woman, aged 35 to 48, to a nearby hospital. Two additional victims, in their 20s and 30s, were taken to the hospital via private means. Police initially reported eight victims but later corrected the total to seven, with two in critical condition. A reporter on the scene described a white Mercedes at the store parking lot as being covered in blood. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or any information regarding suspects, arrests, or the motive for the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
