Woman, 24, douses friend in fuel & lights him on FIRE after he made sexist jibe at party
AN AUSTRALIAN woman has pleaded guilty to setting her friend on fire, telling the court she felt 'overwhelmed by his presence' after he was antagonistic and made a misogynistic comment.
Corbie Jean Walpole, 24, and Jake Loader, 23, were at a house party when the arson attack took place - leaving over half of Loader's body burnt, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported.

Loader sustained burns to 55 percent of his body in the attack in January last year, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported.
Walpole claimed in court that Loader was being antagonistic towards her at the party in New South Wales, trying to wrestle her the entire night.
He at one point told her that she should "stay in the kitchen making scones" where she belonged, if she could not handle drinking with the boys, ABC reported.
Walpole, who admitted in court to being drunk and high on cocaine, left the table where they were drinking and retrieved a five-litre container of petrol from her garage.
She then poured it on Loader and reportedly waved her lighter around in the air.
Loader said: "Go on, do it."
Walpole then touched him with the lighter, setting him on fire, according to the testimony.
After the arson attack, he was placed in a medically induced coma for eight days, his victim impact statement revealed.
It said he underwent 10 operations and had to spend 74 days in a burn unit at Melbourne hospital.
Some of his sweat glands were even burned off, leaving his body unable to regulate temperature.

As a result of the extensive epidermal damage he endured, he can no longer spend time in the sun, it added.
"This attack did not only hurt me, it hurt everyone who cared about me," his statement read.
He did not attend court.
It was revealed in court that most of the group was heavily intoxicated and that Walpole had consumed cocaine.
She said: "I was feeling overwhelmed by [Mr Loader's] presence and I didn't know what to do."
She also revealed that she had been abusing drugs and alcohol since a breakup in 2022.
Walpole said: "To this day I feel horrible, remorseful, guilty for what I have done to Jake, not only Jake but his family, his loved ones, his mutual friends… Anyone who has been impacted in this entire case.
She added: "I would do anything to go back in time.
"No one deserves what happened to Jake and I can't imagine the pain - both physically and emotionally - that I've caused him and his family."
Walpole is due back in court this month for sentencing.
It comes as a woman was set on fire while asleep on a New York subway in December last year.
Debrina Kawam was homeless and sleeping on a subway car when she was attacked, police said.
The attacker, identified as Sebastian Zapeta, sat on a bench and watched his victim burn to death after the attack at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station in Brooklyn.
He pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and other charges in January.
If convicted of the charges, Zapeta faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

A disqualified driver has been denied bail after allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run on a busy Sydney roadway. Tavai was taken to St Marys Police Station where he was charged with a raft of offences including dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), fail to stop and assist after impact cause death. Police also charged Tavai with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday. According to the Daily Telegraph, Tavai did not appear in court on Saturday where no bail application was made and was formally refused. His matter is reportedly listed for the same court on June 13.

A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with terrorism offences after a series of alleged arson and bomb hoax incidents, as police foiled a 'lone wolf attack on King's Guards'. Ilyas Akhtar, of Slough, Berkshire, spoke only to confirm his personal details when he appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday. The 'lone wolf' was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and arson in Slough last week at the Salt Hill Activity Centre, near Windsor Castle. On Sunday he was rearrested over alleged terror offences. Military personnel at a barracks close by were told not to leave the grounds in uniform for two days amid the security scare. Akhtar, who was dressed in a grey tracksuit during the three-minute hearing, was charged on Friday after an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing South East, with authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service. He is accused of preparing acts of terrorism, possessing information useful to terrorists, carrying out two arson attacks and causing a bomb hoax. Kids allegedly spotted carrying lethal weapons at a busy shopping centre just days after they were banned
A popular Melbourne shopping centre was sent into lockdown on Friday evening after a group of boys were seen allegedly carrying machetes days after a ban came into effect. The group of five-to-six boys were seen arguing inside Caroline Springs Shopping Centre in the west Melbourne suburb of Caroline Springs, at about 6.40pm. A Victoria Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the boys were believed to have been armed with machetes and had fled by the time officers arrived at the scene. CCTV footage obtained by Nine News showed shoppers and retailers as they scrambled to avoid the armed mob who appeared to threaten one another. 'I feel so scared... I just quickly go and shut the cafe and tell my other staff "don't leave",' witness Pawan Kaur told Nine. Witness Hung Nguyen watched on in horror as a boy pulled what he believed to be a machete from his backpack before tensions spilled over. 'I can't believe it did happen,' he said. Shoppers affected by the lockdown plastered news of the incident across social media as the events unfolded. The popular Melbourne shopping centre was plunged into lockdown following reports of a group of boys carrying machetes 'Another machete attack while I was getting my noodle on,' one TikTok user wrote in a video filmed inside the shopping centre as the lockdown announcement played over the loudspeakers.
