Narasaraopet Member of Parliament Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu has said that enhanced collboration and coordination among the departments of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) would ensure the meaningful impact of this 'world-class institution' on farmers at the grassroots level.
Addressing the academicians, agricultural scientists, and policymakers during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the university on Tuesday, the MP emphasised the need for focused research on doubling farmers' income by minimising the cost of cultivation.
'It is not only technological innovation but also inter-departmental synergy that will ensure that our research reaches the last mile,' he said.
Participating in the programme as the Guest of Honour, Macherla MLA Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy highlighted the agrarian challenges specific to Palnadu, including frequent crop failures in red gram, cotton, and chilli. He advocated the introduction of horticultural crops as viable alternatives to stabilise farmers' income.
The event was presided over by ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. R. Sarada Jayalakshmi Devi. Among the eminent attendees were Dr. G.R. Chintala, former chairman of NABARD; former Vice-Chancellors Dr. S. Yelamanchili Shivaji, former MP and board member of ANGRAU, traced the institutional milestones of the university. He praised ANGRAU's success in transferring technology from lab to land, and urged the institution to sustain its efforts.
A keynote lecture titled 'Building the Future on a Legacy of Excellence @ 60' was delivered by Dr. Chintala, an alumnus of ANGRAU. This was followed by reminiscences from former Vice-Chancellors, university officers, and farmers.
Industry-academia session
An industry-academia session brought together experts from both sectors to explore collaborative opportunities.

"All parties united against terrorism, sending strong message globally: BJP MP Anurag Thakur

New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): After returning to India, BJP MP Anurag Thakur, a member of the all-party delegation led by NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, highlighted the unity of Indian political parties against terrorism. 'Most delegations were led by opposition parties. Almost half of the people in each group were from opposition parties. This sent a big message to the countries of the world that in the Indian democracy, all parties are united and raising their voice against terrorism... Pakistan supports terrorists by hiding behind a nuclear shield. They train them, and after sponsoring them, attacks are carried out on India. This is a threat to the whole world,' Thakur said. TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, also a member of the delegation, stressed the need for global cooperation against terrorism. 'There needs to be a collective action to identify terrorist organisations not just in Pakistan, but across the globe, and so countries like Pakistan will act according to proper conventions,' he said. The all-party delegation, led by Supriya Sule, aimed to build a united front internationally against terrorism and strengthen diplomatic ties. As part of this effort, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule shared her observations from the Operation Sindoor global outreach program, during which the delegation visited several countries to convey India's strong stance against terrorism. On how the visits changed India's image globally, Sule told ANI, 'It is just a beginning, a lot of countries expected, further Parliamentary friendship groups to ensure that this relation will have a briefing, EAM will be meeting us, I will give this feedback to him that a lot of countries felt that we need to create new friendship groups between our country and those countries, and have continuous interactions be it trade, culture, education, pharmaceuticals.' The delegation, led by Supriya Sule, included Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Anand Sharma, V Muraleedharan, and Syed Akbaruddin. The delegation has briefed international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key countries. CHAKRA by MUHS: A new nucleus for healthcare innovation and education

Nagpur: In a major step towards transforming health education and research in Maharashtra, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) launched CHAKRA — Centre for Health, Applied Knowledge & Research Autonomy on Sunday. Designed as a Centre of Excellence, CHAKRA is set to act as the central hub for innovative, technology-enabled, and socially relevant healthcare education and research. Nagpur, being a hub of medical education with two state-run medical colleges and hospitals, will play an important role in the success of this initiative. "CHAKRA, a symbolic name, also represents a revolving, integrated model of continuous improvement and innovation in health sciences," said registrar of MUHS, Dr Rajendra Bangal. He explained the concept after CM Devendra Fadnavis launched this project on Sunday at MUHS Headquarters in Nashik. "CHAKRA aims to advance applied health research, promote digital learning and simulations, support faculty development, foster startups and innovation in healthcare, and improve clinical practice through data and research," he said. CHAKRA will function as the 'hub', while MUHS-affiliated medical colleges will act as 'spokes' in a decentralised yet unified system. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo This hub-and-spoke model is expected to ensure equitable access to high-quality medical education, training, and healthcare innovations across urban and rural Maharashtra. For UG/PG students, CHAKRA matters a lot because it ensures exposure to simulation-based learning, interdisciplinary research opportunities, and skill-building initiatives tailored to real-world challenges. For faculty, it will serve as opportunities for collaborative research, pedagogy improvement, and access to global knowledge platforms. For doctors and healthcare workers in the state, CHAKRA will be a space for lifelong learning, policy-impacting research, and innovations that can be implemented in clinical settings. For society, it is expected to channel innovations and research towards affordable, accessible, and community-relevant healthcare solutions, particularly for rural populations. With a clear 150-day action plan, a dedicated Rs 14.80 crore funding, and a future-ready vision, CHAKRA is positioned to become a beacon for healthcare education and research not only in Maharashtra but nationally. MUHS has clearly stated that CHAKRA will prioritise genetic health, public health research, digital tools, and community-driven healthcare models. The centre also aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) and the govt's vision of a self-reliant, health-secure India.
