World number one Scottie Scheffler stormed to the top of the leaderboard with a four-under-par 68 in a "challenging" third round of the Memorial Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The 28-year-old American continued his impressive run of form to go one shot ahead of compatriot Ben Griffin, whom he had trailed by three going into the day.Scheffler is searching for a third victory from his latest four tournaments and went bogey free on Saturday, making pars on the first 13 holes before finishing in style with birdies at 14, 15, 17 and 18.That surge gave him the lead on eight under overall.Griffin had five birdies and five bogeys in his level-par 72.Canada's Nick Taylor carded a two-over 74 and is three shots off the lead, while Ireland's Shane Lowry has a share of seventh place after a one-over 73.Scheffler said of his low-scoring round: "I was definitely proud of the way I finished, and it was really challenging."Around this golf course, even par, I think, today would have been a pretty solid score."I felt like I could have got a little bit more out of the round, but I felt like I was playing nice and just a couple lips here and there would have changed the score a little bit."Taylor said of the challenge of competing against Scheffler for the title on Sunday: "I'll be trying to chase him down."He's obviously playing phenomenal, so I'll have to play some of my best golf to be in the hunt there with the last few holes to go."

NFL Network to air all-female 'Good Morning Football' for two days

June 2 - It will be an all-female cast running "Good Morning Football" -- the NFL Network's Emmy-winning show -- this Thursday and Friday. Jamie Erdahl, who regularly hosts the weekday program, will be joined on Thursday by Cynthia Frelund, an NFL Network analytics expert; Jane Slater, a reporter for the network; and Kelsey Conway, a Cincinnati Bengals beat reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer and USA Today. Erdahl will be joined again on Friday by Slater as well as Madelyn Burke, a New York Giants team reporter and CBS Sports HQ host, and Tamara Brown, an NFL and college football reporter who formerly served as a sideline reporter for the New England Patriots. Others appearing include Andrea Kremer, a sports journalist and winner of multiple Emmy Awards; Tracy Wolfson, the lead reporter for The NFL on CBS; Dawn Mitchell, a television sports anchor and reporter in Minneapolis; and singer Melissa Etheridge, a Grammy and Academy Award winner. "Good Morning Football resonates with fans, as evidenced by our Emmy nomination this year, because of our unique and fun way we cover the NFL," Erdahl said. "These episodes of GMFB will bring that same personality and energy, just with leading female voices who love the game." The show airs weekdays from 8-10 a.m. ET on NFL Network and also streams on NFL+. --Field Level Media

Bubba Watson among 7 LIV golfers to WD from U.S. Open qualifier

June 2 - Bubba Watson was one of seven players tied to LIV Golf that opted to withdraw from a U.S. Open final qualifying site on Monday in Rockville, Md. Monday is the final day of U.S. Open qualifying, often billed as "the longest day in golf," as players at 10 sites across North America play 36 holes to compete for the final spots in the major championship field. A number of LIV Golf members signed up to play at the Woodmont Country Club qualifying site before the league plays outside Washington, D.C., later this week. Watson opted not to move forward with the qualifier, joined by Ben Campbell of New Zealand, David Puig of Spain, Matt Jones of Australia, Thomas Pieters of Belgium and Englishman Lee Westwood. Additionally, Australia's Wade Ormsby, a reserve who has appeared in two LIV events in 2025, dropped out. Not all LIV players decided to skip out, of course. Marc Leishman of Australia shot a 1-under-par 70 in his first 18 holes. Brendan Steele and India's Anirban Lahiri were in the mix after even-par 71s. However, only the top four players at the site will qualify for the major, slated for June 12-15 at Oakmont Country Club outside Pittsburgh. Several of LIV's most prominent players are already in the U.S. Open field. Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Spaniard Jon Rahm are invited as U.S. Open winners from the past 10 years; DeChambeau is the defending champion. Englishman Richard Bland was invited after winning the 2024 U.S. Senior Open. A pair of other recent major winners -- Phil Mickelson (2021 PGA Championship) and Cameron Smith (2022 Open Championship) -- are exempt as well. Sergio Garcia of Spain fell one stroke shy of a playoff at a final qualifying site last month in Dallas. --Field Level Media
