Kagiso Rabada Removes Usman Khawaja And Cameron Green In One Over

Last Updated: Khawaja failed to open his account despite facing 20 balls in the first innings of the WTC 2025 final, whereas Green made 4 runs from 3 balls as a No. 3 batter. Kagiso Rabada is on fire for South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, which is currently underway at Lord's in London against Australia. The premier pacer opened the bowling attack for the Proteas on Wednesday (June 11) after their captain, Temba Bavuma, opted to bowl first. The 30-year-old fast bowler from Johannesburg didn't concede any runs in the first three overs of the match, and then on the third ball of the fourth over, removed Australian opening batter Usman Khawaja. Khawaja, who is Australia's leading run getter in the WTC 2023-25 cycle, faced 20 balls during his stay at the crease but failed to open his account. He was caught by David Bedingham in the first slip. After Khawaja's dismissal, all-rounder Cameron Green came out to bat at No. 3, and he opened his account with a first-ball four. But on the last ball of the seventh over of Australia's first inning, he handed a routine catch to Aiden Markram in the second slip for 4 runs from three balls. The video of two dismissals in one over was shared by ICC on X, and within no time the clip went viral on the internet. Rabada is South Africa's leading wicket-taker in World Test Championship history, and he will be a key player for the WTC 2023-25 table toppers in the remainder of the match as well. Travis Head On The Brink Of Breaking Ajinkya Rahanes ‘THIS' WTC Final Record Against South Africa

Travis Head, who played a match-defining knock in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final, is once again at the center of attention as Australia takes on South Africa in the WTC 2025 Final at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. The Australian left-hander is on the verge of breaking a notable record held by Indian veteran Ajinkya Rahane. As the much-anticipated final gets underway, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first, putting Australia's top order, including Head, under the spotlight from the very beginning. With Australia batting first, all eyes are on Travis Head, who needs just 19 runs to surpass Rahane and become the leading run-scorer in WTC Finals history. For context, Ajinkya Rahane has scored a total of 199 runs in four innings across two WTC Finals, making him the top scorer in summit clashes of the tournament so far. Travis Head, on the other hand, has already notched up 181 runs in just two innings, including a sensational 163-run knock against India in the 2023 final. That innings not only led Australia to a commanding victory but also earned Head the Player of the Match award. Players with the most runs in the WTC Final Ajinkya Rahane 199 Travis Head 181 Steve Smith 155 Rohit Sharma 122 Virat Kohli 120 Now, with form, confidence, and the opportunity on his side, Travis Head is well-positioned to rewrite the record books. If he manages to score at least 19 runs in the ongoing final, he will cement his place as the most prolific batter in WTC Final history, a remarkable achievement in the highest format of the game. As the final unfolds at Lord's, cricket fans around the world will be watching closely to see if Head can rise to the occasion once more and etch his name in WTC history.

From India to Lord's! India bowling legend plays a role in WTC Final

Pat Cummins and Temba Bavuma (ICC Photo) NEW DELHI: South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bowl first against Australia in the World Test Championship final at Lord's on Wednesday. With overcast skies looming over London, the conditions looked ideal for South Africa's pace attack to make early inroads. Australia, however, also bring a formidable pace battery into the contest. One of the notable developments for the reigning champions is Marnus Labuschagne stepping into the role of opener for the first time in his Test career. "We'll have a bowl first," said Bavuma at the toss. "The surface looks a good one, with solid overhead conditions. "I'm happy. It's too late now for anything else. We've selected the best team for the conditions." Reflecting on the occasion, he added: "It's (a) massive (occasion). I think all of us have some sort of allegiance to Lord's. It should be a spectacle of a game." Australia skipper Pat Cummins remained unfazed by the conditions and was content with his side batting first. "There's a few clouds but that's not unusual for England," he said. "It's dry and might turn later in the match. "I don't think there's any extra pressure (as defending champions). We've been here before and won it. This week is about enjoying it." Indian bowling legend Javagal Srinath officiated the high-stakes clash as the match referee. Both teams confirmed their playing XIs a day earlier. For Australia, all-rounder Beau Webster retains his spot at number six, while the experienced Josh Hazlewood has been selected ahead of Scott Boland in the pace department. South Africa have slotted all-rounder Wiaan Mulder at number three, and opted for Lungi Ngidi over Dane Paterson — despite Paterson's recent county stint with Middlesex giving him local experience. Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada returns to the Test fold, playing his first match since serving a one-month ban earlier this year following a positive test for cocaine. South Africa are chasing their first major ICC trophy since clinching the Knockout (now known as the Champions Trophy) in 1998. In contrast, Australia, the current top-ranked side and 2023 WTC champions, have a rich history of success in white-ball tournaments.
